I received a phone call from this number.  I didn't answer it because I didn't recognize the number.  Dan Stoddard left a message about my gmail account, internet activity, a case matter, blah blah and more blah.  They sure can leave information about me but nothing about themselves. HA!  I work for an attorney and he called them requesting them to send everything they have via certified mail and all correspondence needs to go through him.  They hung up on him.  Hahahahaha.  Scammers.

I got a call from this number this week. A man left a message saying he was an investigator calling from VR services regarding one of my yahoo accounts and he went on to state the yahoo address. It just so happens to be the email address I rarely use cause I get tons of spam. Oh and he made a comment that had me a little worried saying it had to do with my SSN and my Drivers lincense number. I called and left him a message. I will talk to him when he calls back to see if it is legit or is it a scam.

Called my house phone 5 times in a row and hung up. I tried calling back and there is no answer.

We rec'd a call today, with a case # and name of an employee who hasn't worked for us in YEARS.  Told us we needed to give them information.  NOT.  Keeps calling, now leaving LONG voice mail messages for us to NOT listen to!  BLOCKED this caller with our telephone provider online! LOSERS!!! Do NOT answer any calls to 1-800-628-9724 VR Services.

Got a call from this number... Did not answer but they left a message on my cell. Said they were from VR services and were looking for one of my good friends. Actually said his name. Then proceeded to say that the file number they had was "my cell number". WEIRD!! They wanted me to call them back... so I did, but never got an answer. Had me on hold for about 5 minutes and said nobody was available to answer. I dont know why they would be calling me, asking for my friend and had my cell number as their file number... I WANT ANSWERS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone called my supervisor and asked me to call them back. He said the call was directly connected to a problem with my social security number. I have no idea who they are or where they got my work number. I called the number and a recording said it was Viking Recovery. I have never heard of them. Hmmm! Who knows what that's all about, but I am not calling them back!!

I get calls from this number.  After I say hello, the call is ended.  This has been going on for over a month, and is starting to get rather annoying.

These people are scammers.  They do not have legal claim to any debt.  They have received some list from some company, the list is not validated, and if they collect money they get to keep it.  If they were legal and above board, you would receive a notice, then a registered letter(if they are taking you to court), and the debt could be reported on the credit bureau.  

Some of the techiques:  your in trouble and it needs taken care of today -use this on friends, parents, siblings..anyone the can collect from. They called numerous times to try and create a dialog with the person, then the hit them up for the money.  Sometimes only part of the "debt".

If your family gets a call from them ,especially older citizens, tell them to not even talk to them.  DO NOT ANSWER!!!


But, if you feel you must talk, go ahead and be rude, I cursed one out and he never called again.

I called a got a call yesterday at 830, stating that the needed to spk to me regarding internet activity, with my email address & SS #. She did leave her name and number 800-638-9724. I see everyone's response and I believe its not best to call. What do you think? I have Debt out there but nothing I have done thru the internet!!! Should I call or not?? Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. And for "Scam Alert" - really you must not have anything better to do then read columns like this! I have been in collection for 7 years and I know the law, they cannot harrass or threathen you. Its called the Fair Debt Law!! So as everyone else said go back to your job arrogant A**HOLE!!!

I too received a call from Viking Recovery and although their practices sound a bit unscrupulous and sneaky, I legitimately have a debt with them.  The message they left me just said something about a business matter with their office, so I did call and they were surprisingly helpful in setting up payment arrangements so that I could take care of my debt.    Just in case though, before I disclosed any of my info and payment arrangements, I was sure to get the first and last name of the rep I was speaking to and his phone number and a physical mailing address for the company.  For me, this was a legitimate call but I know that's not how it is for everyone else.  Just be careful to verify their identity and get any claims of debt they have against you in writing. Even though their call to me was legitimate, the way they appear to be going about business does seem a bit sketchy.  Hope this helps!

This number kept calling me repeatedly everyday while I was at work.  Today I am home and every time I picked it up the line would go dead.  I finally called the number back and it brought me to Viking Recovery Services.  I spoke to a representative who said that they were looking for someone who had my number before.  He said he removed my number from that guys account but that I would receive the automated dial calling service for another 2-3 days.  I'll let you know if it stops but try calling during the weekday business hours.  Hopefully this works for others.

Same here.  This company tries to imply Internet Fraud.  The rule is that they can't get money from you if they can't talk to you.  However, they're trained to get money if you talk to them, so they say whatever they can (and this includes making you mad) just to get you to call them.  Don't call!

I just got this call.  "Mr. Brown, Special Investigator in the legal department for VR Services" and said my number was given as a reference.  Whatever.  If they need to reach me, they can send me a letter.... SNAIL MAIL.

This man from Vr Services can get info on you, like you neighbors phone number to leave a message for you. How do they do this? This is an invasion of my rights. He told my neighbor that I have used them as a reference and he wanted any info they could give on me. I have never used them on any documents, this is a scam....watch out.

This number called my phone and the woman (shockingly I couldn't understand her name) said that she had a situation that warranted my immediate attention.  There was a file on her desk linking my name and SS# to activity on the internet, and I should refer to claim #---328.  This is outrageous.

That's what they said to me!  They said they had my SS# and name involved in internet activity.  Like I'm really going to call them when they didn't even say who they were with.

Sorry "Scam Alert" but this company is not a real collection agency. First and foremost, they are required by law to tell you...even if they are leaving a message, the name of the company. Not just say "My name is Mr. Farantino and a civil matter has been placed with our office involving your ss# and driver license #, you are using the email blahblah@ whatever.com. Please call me back and reference the # blahblahblah. When leaving a message they do not have to reveal who they are collecting for, however, once you contact them, they do have to tell you. So like "tired of calls" said go back to your scamming BS and leave us people who are trying to warn hard working americans alone. Peace out Biotch!

If they are registered with the state, what is the companies legal name and where can we find out more about them? There is a difference with people getting a collection call and getting a harassing call where you are being threatened. These people are ruthless and don't know how to talk to people. I would love to find out more about them.

I just received a call from this number, The Guy said that his name was Vincent Cignarate with VR Services and that they had my SS# , my drivers #, my e-mail address and that there was a case number on me . I told him that I had no out standing monies due to anyone and that he was mistaken. He became very angry, wanted me to give him personal info. I just laughed and hung up. I then typed the number into google and I found all of this. It must be some kind of scam.
