So how much are they paying you to post this glowing recommendation?  If your mom does indeed work there and she conducts herself in the manner in which people are complaining about, well then I would have to say that she is definitely not a very nice woman.  A simple search of the net comes up with 100s of complaints on their business practices regarding collections and their harassment of people not even in default on their mortgages.  They can seemingly bypass the FDCPA since they are doing the collection calling themselves and are thus not a "third party debt collector".  I would certainly never do business with them, and if my mortgage was transferred to them would immediately seek another mortgage provider as provided by RESPA.

A class action law suit was brought against them in April of 2013.  While the information on this web site is furnished by a law firm and thus may be skewed, I find that in reading other complainants stories that most of what is contained in here is indeed fact:

We'll first they are just doing their job my mom works there and they are trying to help you not go bankrupt so you won't lose all your stuff also they have a list that prints out numbers and if it prints out a number that is near the person and they call and it's not the right name they will ask you to tell your neighbor because they are sure that the person is your neighbor. Don't call them jerks because they are doing their job. What if you were them? Would you want someone to call you a jerk for doing your job?

man was placing this on my door, "IMPORTANT NOTICE- Please call Green Tree, 1-800-666-1143"  and said they needed to stay in contact with me, so please call the number ASAP.  He had on a denim shirt with a local casino logo on it. Not real professional. He left, then came back and said he needed to ask my name. Really? If they need to talk to me wouldnt they know my name? Didnt call the number, pretty sure this is a scam.

I received the same envelope tagged on our door.  It really rattled me as I thought there was a problem with my loan mod work.  My better judgement told me not to call...but to google the # instead since I wouldn't give any acct# to a strange telephone #.  Thanks so much for posting, as it gives us a peace of mind to know about unsavory things going on out there.

I received an important message to call my mortgage company at this number after a few days of closing my new home. I called back and it requested my account number, social security number and phone number. I entered but it said those information could not be relocated. Then I contacted my mortgage company and found out it was not necessary to call back at those numbers like this.

First Verizon is not just a wireless phone company, they are also are the local landline phone company in many states ( they are my landline company in MD).

Second, is your unlisted phone number on your deed?  Skip trace companies like this often pull the property records for neighbors of those they are trying to reach and then call the neighbors to leave a message.

My caller ID show a call from (205) 977-6278/Green Tree Services with a message from Tracey @ ext 64119.  A search of this number showed it is a Verizon land line (tee hee - Verizon - a land line?  right!)  in Birmingham, AL.

She asked me to call to her and help her locate my neighbor, "neighbor's first & last name", as she had an urgent message to get to neighbor  or would I give "neighbor" her number as "it is very important "'neighbor' get in touch with her.

What bother's me the most is my # is unlisted and somehow Green Tree could get the unlisted phone # of "nieghbor"'s neighbor (me) !! Where are my rights and protection?

This is a mortgage modification company with a long history of consumer complaints including several lawsuits against them.  Google Greentree Servicing for all the dirt on this company.

Found a similar note on our front door today with the same phone number.

just got a note in a manila envelope on the door with this phone number.  The note said "IMPORTANT PLEASE CALL"  It said it was from G-Tree.  I'm not going to call.

I found an envelope taped to my front door with this same phone number. It's being used by a company called Greentree Servicing.
