I just got the same call this time from Dave. They called Good Friday and again Easter Monday and said I had until Midnight monday to enter the promocode. The website does exist but it does sound fishy. Anyone shed some light on this? I see there are lots of previous posts on this but no one has responded as to an explanation of who they are. I can only assume GODADDY gave them my info last week as I renewed my website.

ya i keep getting phone call from searchenginestartup.com giving me a promo code for free setup on my website. but when i enter in the promo code they still want to charge me 300 dollars. what the f--k. is this a scam.

I got the same message everyday since I started anew website. They say to go to searchenginesstartup.com and enter a promo code and enter whether I want to go local or national and today was the last day so I don' t have to pay set up fees. Whay are they after?

Even reporting this, the caller/domain, can still get as much info from this/these posts, I think, as well! That's scary!

Called me three times in three days, I block their number.

Now they are calling me on Skype.. What the heck?!

Maybe them, maybe not them after all.  But they WILL work with me and determine what happened here.  So I'll give them that much.

Well, they responded to me quickly and will work with me to get to the bottom of it.  So if not them...then WHO?

The CULPRIT was DOMAIN.COM.   They SOLD domain name registration information which was protected by a PRIVATE WHOIS listing to 3rd party telemarketers.

I say again, the responsible party was DOMAIN.COM, an online company which does discount registrations.   The information was SOLD to a 3rd party telemarketer under their convoluted terms of service.   Apparently "discount" comes at a price....next time, I'll go with a company who will PROTECT my information, not SELL it to the highest bidder.  

They were the ONLY entity who KNEW I was tied to that domain name and had my information.
By default, they are 100% responsible.

Transcript from the voicemail message:

"Hello, this is Dick with search engine start up dot com. We've been trying to get a hold of you over the last few days in order to set up your search engine listing options for your website, and whether you want to be listed locally or nationally. If you do have questions or need assistance is will be our last attempt to contact you in regards to this due to our inability to get a hold of you at this point, so you can call me directly at 1(800) 689-5843. I'll be happy to speak to you all set up an answer any questions that you may have in regards to this. Again, it's (800) 689-5843. I look forward to hearing from you."

..."last attempt," yeah sure.  Only the 3rd identical message I've received.

Called saying that they have an urgent message regarding my website. Called back a got voice mail. Caller left no name for himself or his company. All this type of call does is waste time and money. I would never do business with a company that markets its services in this manner... NEVER.

Yes they keep calling me day after day.
There is lots of website traffic happening with my site.
I'don't seem to be able to block it from my Nextel/Sprint phone.
I think it's a scam and wont call it.

Same thing, Nick saying something along these lines, "Due to an inability to contact you, we are sending you this message about improving your search engine results, please press 1 to be connected to our operator.." yada yada yada... I didn't press one.  eff Nick, and that phone number.

Telemarking calls offering search engine help. Unwanted and unrequested calls.

Received 2 ROBO calls within a 4 days from this telemarketer searchengine startup.com giving me a promo code to start my website. I do not have a website, nor have I ever done business with this company.

received 2 phone calls and tried to return calls only get answer machine, and most importantly HOW DID THEY GET MY INFO? I don't even have a WEBSITE!!!!  Guy said his name was NICK.

yea, it they said "go to searchenginestartup.com" and use the given promo code. but no sight exists.. but it told me by doing so they will put my web-sight in major search engines such as google and yahoo

Got this call also... Luckily I have a Google Voice number, so I can block them from ever calling me again.

They are calling an unlisted un published number.  So much for privacy.

got the message as well called my web site company, says its a fradulent company ... the website doesnt exist
