Got a call from this number today.  I do owe money to Lane Bryant but the message I was left is NOT the way to get me to pay it.  He was incredibly threatening, didn't tell me who he was ('this is in regards to a matter that came across me desk'), wanted my attorney to call him and if I didn't have one it was in my best interest to contact him back.
At this point, if Lane Bryant wants it's the $400 in late fees I owe because they never sent me a bill, they can take me to court.

I called them back and they said I owed a company I know I do owe. It's a balance of $460. He then proceeded to tell me that I could start making payments as of today. I informed him I didn't know my account number. Then he said he would take my debit card as payment. I told him I didn't feel comfortable about the call. I told him I would call the card company myself and talk to someone directly. He told me that they couldn't help me because my "case" was brought to his desk.
I do plan on calling the card company tomorrow and talk about it.
The whole call seems fishy in general.

It sounds like a scam to me.  I think they are trying to scare you into paying a debt you don't owe, or they are trying to scare your parents to pay that fake debt for you.  They can't really do anything to you.  Calling your parents about your debt is illegal.  No legitimate debt collector would do that.

If you are still concerned call your bank.  Use the phone number on your credit card or on your bank statement.

Got a VM today about 10:42am on 4/25/14 stating that I or my attorney need to contact them no later than 3:00 pm. The agent name that he stated is Mr. Bathwell and he left this number 1-800-695-7444 ext: 1227622. So I goggle this number and it appears to be connect to this company WFNNB. I have heard of this company before. He kind of made a threat and said if I or my attorney did not call him before 3:00pm today that he would have to make a decision that would effect me in a harmful way. I believe that this is a scam. If it was a debt collector they should have said so and leave there company they work for. I don't take highly to threats MR. BATHWELL WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS. If it is a debt collector they need to send me a notice stating they are attempting to collect a debt for a amount and the date to collect it.

I received a call from this number similar to the rest. I do have a card that is very past due, but I also have 3 cards in excellent standing with them. I was asked the name of my attorney and told that I had until the end if the month to resolve this matter or they would be forced to take legal action. The debt is for 1900.00 and they are offering a payoff of 1200. I'm scared. Scared that they will garnish wages, freeze bank accounts, and that I will be sued. The account is past due 11 months due to job transition. What do I do? Please help!

I've received multiple calls all day from this company. blocked, unblocked, world financial, cell phone #s on my caller ID from them. Now threats for a lawyer, I mean seriously people I know I do owe a bill to Lane Bryant but does a $321 bill really warrant this level of collection status, threats are very unprofessional and if I had the money Don't you think I would of settled this matter plus I returned $110+ in merchandise they said they issued credit via email, I didn't receive it, I haven't purchased anything since and they said I was out of luck for the refund.

Since when does collection agencies threaten with,"have your attorney call me"? Ok,so if my attorney does call you then what? He would laugh at you just as I did. I owe a bill,so what who doesn't owe some type of bill. This woman called my cell phone asked for me and said my attorney needs to contact her about a matter that came in her office today. I could see the caller id when she called said World Financial. I guess they use scare tactics to try and get people to pay.Well,I'll pay when I can and for now I'll just keep blocking their numbers.

Agent Nicole asked for Morris. My wife's name is Morris, I said she was not home.  Caller stated it was a personal matter.  Would not say what company he was with nor the reason for the call.  Knowing there was another Morris at this number TEN YEARS AGO, I decided to call back to find out the last name of who she was trying to find.  Ended up being the Morris who had our phone number 10 years earlier.

We had a call from these idots since two years ago , and on the message today the lad said she was agent Arnet and that either we call or our attorney... Well if they call again our attorney will call them...Maybe we'd suit them...

I think this lad missed her true calling; she should be in Hollywood, as an actor. She sounds just like the  main FBI Agent on that TV show called 'The sopranos".

I got a call from "No Caller ID unknown" four times today.  One message was left by a Miss Seaton or Seedon or Seadum calling from "The Bank".  They have apparently been trying to contact me for a month, and since there has been no response they are going to escalate this outside of their office.  She requested me or my attorney to call her back to look at "our final options for resolution".  There is no indication given on what "The Bank" is or who they are representing or what it is that needs to be resolved.  "Miss Seaton, Seedon, or Seadum" sounds like she is reading from a script.  After reading all these posts, I see "The Bank" is World Financial Bank.

The Bank? WTH?!   I don't answer calls that have no caller ID, and I don't call back people who leave me vague information.  If I owe money, send me something in writing with your real full-name, real account number, real organization, and all of that good stuff.

Received several calls from a "Private" number that I did not answer.  Then, last night at 8:00 PM received a threatening voice message asking  my daughter -in -law or her Attorney to call to resolve this "situation".  Caller "Mr. Baswell" said if you have an Attorney you must call tonight by 10:00 PM, or I will take steps that will affect your life.  This used to be my son's number, but they asked for my daughter-in-law by her maiden name.  He did not identify the name of the company he was calling from or the nature of his business.

Got a call today from Mr. Jones... stating that some "very disturbing information about me" had just come accross his desk and that either myself or my lawyer needed to contact him as soon as possible to resolve the issue.  I could hear the call center in the background... who do they think they're fooling with this ruse??
This is over a $92 balance on a Torid card I used once... in fact, the $92 is charges they added... I paid for what I actually purchased months ago.

Updating on my post above. Per a letter I received today, 1-800-695-7444 X1227523 is indeed Roaman's, a.k.a. Comenity Bank, a.k.a. WFNNB. The phone calls never say who they are calling on behalf of, nor that this is an attempt to collect a debt, nor any way to contact them other than this phone number. They simply make vague threats about legal action. Also, I have sent at last count seven letters to Roaman's, but they refuse to reply to them, instead insisting on phone calls. That's because they know my rights won't be protected if *I* call them. They also are using an in-house collection agency because those people calling are technically employees of Roaman's, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act doesn't apply to them. I've already sent a complaint to my state's attorney general and through consumerfinance .gov, and will have to send yet another registered letter to Roaman's, which they will undoubtedly ignore. This is not a large balance, not even after they added $400 in fake fees to it. Unbelievable the lengths they will go to for such a small amount.

I received a message from 800 695-7444 ext 1277538 from Mike. He also called my mother's cell phone from a restricted number and left a message. I called back, he said he was from Comenity Bank and did I have my debit card handy.  I told him no, wanted to know what he was trying to collect and he said a letter was sent,,which I never received. I asked if he could send it to my email, he refused. He was rude and refused to give me any information. The message he left said "he was getting ready to make a decision that would directly affect my life". Reporting him to the FTC and Attorney Generals office. Very poor customer service!

Someone called my brothers house and said he was an Attorney Mullins and was calling regarding a case that was forwarded to his office and that if I wasn't represented by an Attorney that he needs to hear from me by tomorrow. 800-695-7444 Ext. 1227616. They had called my cell but didn't leave a number or message. I Googled the number and it showed up as being from World Financial Network National Bank, and when I called it later when I got to work, offices were closed. Trying to make it sound like it's some URGENT matter, bill collector. When I did try to make a payment online (for lower service charge), it wouldn't let me and kept telling me my information didn't match up.??

Three calls today from "Unknown," on the first two I would say "Hello?" a couple times, hear someone rustling around, then they'd hang up. The third time I let it go to voice mail, and they left a message, where a "Miss Cass" claimed they had a "matter" I was required by law to contact them about immediately. They said I must retain a lawyer or call them by 10:00 PM, or else they would make a decision that would affect the rest of my life. The number given was 800-695-7444, which online info says is Redline Recovery Services, not that I'd know from the message because they won't tell you who they are. Given how much this sounds like a threat, I'm not surprised it's a debt collector. Not only did they not reveal the company they work for, they didn't announce per the Fair Debt Collections Act that they were attempting to collect a debt. Online info shows they work for Comenity Bank, which makes sense, because I have been disputing a charge on my Roaman's account for months, and have sent them numerous letters, but they ignore them all. They just left messages constantly insisting I call them back, which I won't do -- per the FDCA, calling a creditor does not protect your own rights.  It doesn't surprise me that Comenity is resorting to fake legal threats, either. I saved a copy of the voice message and will be filing a complaint with the government over Comenity's practices. Oh, and if you want to know what Redline Recovery Services is like, look up the news article "Woman Sues Debt Collector Over Phony Call" -- someone from Redline pretended to be her lawyer and scared her into using her husband's retirement to pay them off!
