it says that its from a debt collector. it is for the national action financial. he was trying to get in touch with my wifes ex fiance. so i dont know if that will help.

I think they're trying to collect for defaulted student loans.

I have been receiving numerous pre-recorded voicemail messages. Caller does not reference my name; does not reference the name of any agency or company.  "....Due to the sensitive nature of this matter, I cannot discuss details in this format. You must contact me at 800-697-4980. This is from a debt collection agency." This is suspicious and I simply ignore them. I'm pretty sure that EVERYONE who has ever extended me credit has asked for my address and they can mail me a letter of any issues!!

caller had called with same messges, when he got me at a family members house, staying during ice storm he was rude and bullying what a jerk.  Did not even have my correct address currently and had no other information.  What an you know what he told me maybe instead of sleeping at 7:55 am that I should be productive and get a job good way to get me to talk to him AGAIN not

got this message on my VERY UNLISTED 'Family plan" cell phone. Unidentified? can Stay unidentified. Sounds like a scam.  I haven't defaulted on any student loans.  My cell phone is dead and I was checking Vmail so I have no idea what the caller ID may have said. But my cell is NOT my business line. It's for family and emergencies.  My job doesn't even have my cell. So if anyone needed to get in touch w/me they'd call MY HOUSE, not my cell.
That's why I'm fairly positive this is a scam. Especially now since I see I'm not the only one receiving the EXACT SAME MESSAGE.

I will add this though.  The message said call 1800694980, but the vmail said "message received from 18003048519...

You can send them a cease and desist letter, but since they don't abide by the law anyway the best option is to just ignore them.  You can also send a brief letter to your Attorney General.  When they get enough of these complaints they may launch an investigation.  Go to the FTC's website on how to send a cease and desist letter.

I have been getting calls on my cell phone from a "Mr. Lynch" that leaves only a telephone number and no company name or other information. (note from jp of 5 Nov 2008 is the same info they leave). I have also received a letter from them and replied that the debt was not owed and still receive annoying calls from them.
Why can't something be done?

Another scam collection agency, ignore and then file complaints with the ftc.  I always do even with only a phone number to go by; but this site is great for additional info..............

Do not answer phone or cooperate with this agency-they are bogus at best
and bad news period.They are operating under the radar screen if you will.
If they truly know who you are they can find more comfortable above board ways of contacting you and ealing with you including the mail and identifying themselves on caller id.

I get a call from this number every Saturday before 8:00am.  The man calling says that he is Mr. Braun and that I owe him money.  He is rude, threatening and today when I asked him to stop calling me, especially before 8:00am which is illegal in my state, he began to scream and swear at me.  I don't own anybody money and particularly not "Mr. Braun".  How do I get this man to stop calling?

Mr. Bona has called several times looking for my brother. He has also called my parent's home. As posted above, he is pushy and rude. My brother has no outstanding debt, although he did about 7 years ago. Apparently, Mr. Bona wants to speak to him about a matter "that has been settled". Sorry Mr. Bona, my brother and I suddenly became estranged!

He has persistently called for a member of the family that moved away 12 years ago. The message is "to call Mr. Boma about urgent business."  Today I happened to be home to answer his call, he tried bully me into giving out a number.

Answered phone to hear a recording from a supposed debt collector instructing me to call back this 1-800 number.  When I did a male requested a confirmation of my phone number, name, and went on to say that he could not locate me.  He then asked me for my social security number.  I said "No thanks", and he said "Alright...bye".  He then hung up on me.
I find this to be very fishy and a scam.  DO NOT GIVE OUT INFO!!!

He was rude, pushy, and condesending. He also told mis-truths to me and other people related to the situation.
