Just got one from them on my cell phone. I answered, but they hung up. Go figure.

Same number but new tactic.  Some Arabic guy says we have to get some kind of health insurance card to make up for what Medicare won't pay.  I asked him what company he was with and he said, "National Health Insurance".  I asked where he was calling from and he said New York.  I told him not to call here ever again and to take my name off their list.  Two hours later he called again.  Scam.  Is it not possible to trace and track these guys down?

Can the phone companies stop them?

This caller has called several times in the last month.  Telling me he is with the IRS and thats where I either hang up or I tell him he as the wrong number.  He also called asking for (John) which I tell him hes got the wrong number, he starts stamering like and idiot, he definatly has an asian accent.
Now that I have read this site about the # I will listen next time and get more info.

Called 1/11/07 5:55 pm eastern. I dont answer numbers I dont recognize, searched online, found this site and all the interesting information above. Thanks for the info and much appreciation to whoever designed and maintains this site. Great idea.

I got the call this morning on my wife's cell phone, I answered and the line was silent and then it hung up.  I call back and just receive a busy signal.  I "googled" the number and found this.  I will keep researching to see what I can find.  We have to report these people.  This is just ridiculous.

Calls several times a day.  I always hit ignore and do not answer but it is very annoying!!!

Number calls 5-6 times a day when I answer the call ends.

I got a call from these guys today. I did not call back. If you call back they will see your number and google it to get your name and address etc. That is how they know things about you that some have mentioned above or they may just pick your number from a book etc. and google the number before calling to get your name and address. If you don't believe, me try putting your number or a friends (unless it is unlisted) into a google search and see what you get.

Answered the phone "U.S. Federal Bureau of Instigation".  Never heard anything more.  Of course ragheads don't know the difference.

Recieved a call today from the same # about, go figure a 2500.00 refund. man said he was from the IRS. My wife said it was a scam and the man on the phone threatened to fine me 2000.00 dollars and put me in jail for 1 year for "Insulting a Senior IRS Official" then he said I will recieve a letter about this in the mail. An have a good holiday. Thinking he was going to hang up after this I held the phone for a bit.. DE JA VU he never hung up, obvioulsy waiting for me to tell him anything he wanted to know for  my "REFUND".  I will be awaiting my "FINE"  yeah right.  NOTIFY EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS. NOT TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THIS SCAM IS LIKE HELPING THEM, SO TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

ok, they called back about 30 minutes ago.  this time i talked with someone they told me that i was eligible to receive $2500 from the IRS forpaying my taxes on time.  They verified my phone number and address and told me they would need my bank account info.  I asked that if it were truly the IRS, why couldn't they send a check directly to me?  He said they could only deposti the money.  I then told him that if he were truly the irs, then he should have my bank info since i always get my refund direct deposited.  He told me, they don't keep that info on file, that i would need to supply it again.  I reused and told him that i would contact the IRS myself and the local FBI office and let them know that their company is funding the terriorist, and if they knew anything about me, they wouldn't waste their time trying to steal something i don't have. Which is MONEY!!!

They called once yesterday.  When I see their number I start my fax which is kept on manual mode.  They didn't call later... I usually get 3 calls per day.

I saved the number in my contacts as "pain".  Then I know not to answer.

I receive several phone calls per day from this number and have asked they cease and desist from calling me.  They have failed to comply.

Just got a call from them. They left a voicemail and said "hello?.......hello???"

A male answered and said that he was from the Internal Revenue Service and that I was going to get a refund because I had paid my taxes on time and my credit rating had gone up. I told him that he was not from the IRS and asked who was calling, he hung up. Caller ID showed: Unknown Name 800-698-5898

He knew my husbands name and a previous address (creepy). He asked if the address was correct i told him it was not then he asked for my current address and I hung up. How do we report these people.

getting these calls constantly, only on wife's cell # though, and numbers are near consecutive. Finally answered one today after third ring, as soon as i picked up the line went dead. I called back got an auto msg that the number was not in my service area or something like that. msg code was "Manchester 413. Manchester (NH--near where I live) is a 603 number.... Searched internet for number, found this site. one post mentioned TrimLife was responsible and listed their number. Called the number, no mention of a company name when answered so cannot verify if it's trim life or not. Man on phone answered with "Customer Care" and his name. Said phone number doesn't sound familiar, then searched the database and *said* my number was not in it. Could be a good liar, but he sounded genuine.

After registering my number with the DO NOT CALL list,  I didn't receive any calls for about a month or so.  I just now received one so I guess the DO NOT CALL thing doesn't work and I guess the calls are starting again.  The man that calls always asks for Tracy Alley. We have told him repeatedly that no one lives here by that name.  Just like other people,  he said I would get some kind of refund from the government.  Today he left a message saying , Tracy are you there?  Hello?   Hello?  My husband says ignore the calls, don't answer.  I want to answer and talk to this person and here what they have to day just to play along.  I can't believe they can put a man on the moon, but they can't trace an 800 number.  I would like to report this to authorities and have them investigate it but I don't know who to talk to.  I too, think it has to do with terrorism.  The man that calls always has a thick accent.  I wish something really evil would happen to these people for what they are doing.

I got a chance to answer this time and the phone was heard ringing. When someone picked up, they asked for the person who owned the phone number. I immediately told them to remove me from the calling list however they hung up on me. I should play it cool next time if i can get them to slip up. I've been in the telemarketing business for years so i'm sure i can come up with something.

i have been getting calls from this number, but since i never answer 800 numbers, i was never concnered.  then one day i decided to try to call it back and it told me that the call wouldn't go through.  then, i searched and found sights like this stating that it must be some type of scam.  the next time they call, i am gonna answer and talk with them and play with them like they have been playing with me on my cell.  we'll see if bin laden has something to do with this.  since i received one call this morning, i am sure will have another today.  we'll see what happens.  i will let ya'll know.

These calls recently started up on my cell phone as well.  I noticed the past couple of weeks my phone would ring and the ID would only show 980 or 3-980 when I answered there was no one there.  Just this past week the 800 number started calling - each time a voice with a heavy accent but each time with a very American sounding name (Tom Smith, Daniel Brown).  They start to mumble something about working the IRS - I let them talk and then ask them a question they can't answer (my favorite is - Oh my goodness you work for the IRS too!!!  I can't belive it - what office number are you in?) usually i hear silence and then a click of the phone hanging up.  I'm fairly sure that their goal is the same - to get ahold my bank information and as much personal information as possible.  My goal next time is to give them all of the information that they need (fake numbers of course) I'm hoping once they feel as though they've scammed in information they'll have no further interest in it.  Just a though

A very big pain - no one answers when I pick up.  What's the deal?
