We have student loans. and also paper work from them. They are legit...

THEY CALL EVERY DAY FROM MORNING TO NIGHT.  I DON'T OWE ANYONE MONEY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS. ALSO, THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY HARRASSING CALLERS. THEY MUST BE SOMETHING SOMEONE IS ABLE TO DO TO STOP UNWANTED, UNNEEDED, UNKNOWN HARRASSING CALLERS. I TRIED REPORTING TO NYS DO NOT CALL. BUT THEY STILL CALL.

Last night at 8.36 I got a call from this no 18006992908. And asked me my date of birth but it was suspected to me because the time they call me and when I was asking him some questions he then asked me my last 4 digits of social. I he said they website is despise.org but it supposed to be .gov not .org if real.

I have no one in family that has ever had a student loan.  So they cannot be calling for late ir none payments of anything.

I am 87 years and graduated 60 years ago ter paying my own way through college. This a scamand I have enough smarts never to answer their calls which comes daily three or four times in several HOURS..JUST DO NOT ANSWER THESE CALLS OR CALL THEM BACK.

I just got a call from this number but he didn't ask for a student loan payment. He asked if I wanted to pay off my direct tv acct that I paid off 2 years ago. Not only could I not understand him, he kept rushing me to make a payment and I felt uneasy about paying it so I just hung up.

This is fedloan.  If you or your child has a student loan and are late on a payment, they will call you.  I think this one is legitimate, not a scam.

800-699-2908 calls every now and again, including today...leaves a message about my student loan which I must address right away.  The irony is, I do not now have nor have I EVER had a student loan.  Even If I had a loan, it would have been paid long ago since I am now retired!!  So, this is some sort of scam!!!

They never asked for a social security number. You're just freaking out for no reason.

got called from this number for the first time yesterday. no message, so nothing yet...just marked it as a debt collector in my contact list.

I've received calls on both my landline and cell phone on a few occasions.  I took one student loan in 1980 for cosmetology school.  It's been paid for so long, that I'm sure it's buried.  I didn't take out any student loans for college, so there's no debt incurred there.  My guess is that they are either calling the people who once had the numbers I now have, or it's an autodialer.  If it's for me, they're completely insane.    

This is a credit reporting agency confirming information reported against you.  It is Credit Plus. Still be smart before you give away your social, but I use them daily to verify tradelines on a credit report for a mortgage company. So they could call you about a car loan, insurance, etc. Anything.

yeah, I have never had a student loan either, and all of the sudden I started getting these calls.  they must be a scam or have the wrong number. they NEVER leavea message

Laurie - per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, request their physical address, send them a physical letter (I notarize mine & keep a copy for my own records scanned in) saying that they are to cease communication of all sorts with you. Go search out the FDCPA on wiki for the items that they are required by law to tell you when they call.  I have WAY too much experience with this when people started coming after me for debts my ex-husband had incurred after we divorced.

Got a call from them, didn't answer it since it says UNKNOWN.  Search out the FDCPA - they are allowed to call between 8am & 9pm for debt collection. In my case, however, I haven't had a student loan since 1993.  If I had one owing, I do believe someone would've called sooner.  Also, I have a discharged bankruptcy, so I know for a fact, this call was invalid.

Another 800 call.  No id.  There should be a law requiring caller ID.

Called three times this week. They don't leave a message. Up above said it is about student loans. I don't have any. I am on the no call list.

Got a call from this # this evening.
I have never (ever!) had any student loans.
I told her she must have the wrong person.
She asked for me by name.  
I asked to be removed from her list, which she claimed she couldnt do, unless I gave her my DOB or last 4 of my SSN.  I didnt want to give her any more personal info than she already had.
Any advice on how to proceed?

I've received 2 calls from these people today alone.  I know for a fact that I don't owe these people any money as my student loan is paid off!!!  On my voicemail I specifically state that if they are not calling for myself or my husband (and I clearly state our names in the voicemail) that this is their 1 and only warning to remove our number from their database or face legal action.. Guess what, they called again so I've forwarded the information to my attorney and plan on suing them to the fullest extent of the law!  We get calls all day/night long looking for 2 women who is not me.  I've told them numerous times that I am not who they are looking for yet they continue to call.  So now the gloves are off and I'm going after them!

It's FedLoan Servicing. If you have subsidized or unsubsidized loans especially from Western Career College or Carrington College. They tend to take over education loans so that you're only paying to one company. Refusing to talk to them when you have these loans is bad news. If you don't have these loans, just tell them and they'll stop calling you. Tell them that the number they are calling doesn't belong to said debtor/ loan holder. BUT only if it's true. If you don't pay back the loan, or talk to them about adjusting when you can pay it, they'll turn you over to collections services and garnish your wages, etc. They're a legitimate company, I have my school loans through them.

Called at 9:14AM.  Left no message.

I don't owe anyone,  I am a widow and no one leaves a message.  Plus if you c all it back it says no longer a working number, which that scares me.

same here I am a widow, I do not answer numbers I don't know.  I live alone and they scare me.  Because you never know how to answer these folks and most of the time when I do call back that number it says not a working number.
