Debt Collector
I have received many calls from this company about a debit I do owe. I had fallen on times of where I was completely unable to turn loose of any monies as I did not have anything extra once household bills were paid. I took a job paying extremely less than what I was making before... although I am very grateful to be employed. I was also a victim of identity theft in the past and had to pay a large court cost to prove I was myself and have derogatory remarks removed from my credit and background information.  With that being said, I spoke with a Juan Gibson at the Law Offices of J.C. Bonewicz. It has been stated that CITI  Financial has a "pending" lawsuit against me ... I did look on casenet and it is true there is a lawsuit on there. I have no problems paying this amount that this Juan person suggested but I do not want to give my bank account information over the phone and he assures me that if I don't I will be taken to court and made to pay in full. I don't have the "in full" amount at this time. I am capable of the payment though. Any ideas on how to stop the law suit and harassing calls?

HELP!

I had quite an experience with the law office of John Bonawitz. They will do everything they can to collect for their clients. They pulled a hard inquiry on my credit without my permission. According to the FCRA they cannot do this. However, you have to take them to court to get any resolution, and that would cost wuite a bit to only get $1,000 fine slapped on them. Furthermore, they are some lying SOB's! I told them I would agree to their terms if they sent me a written agreement that was notorized so I could keep it for my records as proof of the agreement. They said they faxed it to me. I stood next to the fax while they were "faxing it" to me. It never came. I made an additional request to fax immediately, and then they changed their tune and started yelling at me that I was just trying to get out of paying the debt, and I was stalling, and that they were again marking me as a failure to pay. Eventually, their client to me to court-in a different county than my residence, serving me a summons with incorrect information and still won a judgement against me for more than double the original default amount. A major shaft job. So, now I am looking at a bankruptcy. F*** you Bonawitz, and CACHE LLC ! !  My recommendation to you would be to contact an attorney immediately if you ever have contact with these bozo's and let them negotiate a settlement on your behalf. Even though there are supposed to be laws protecting your rights, people like Bonawitz can drive right over them with impunity...

This scares me to death!! I setteled an account that i had with them back in december and the guy was really stern but never rude, i knew i owed the money and was willing to pay but didnt have the full 1200 dollars right then. he got kinda upset and was like well this has to be settled so i worked out paying 300 dollars (automated withdrawl) a month for 4 months. all fine and good but he never sent me ANY paper work. well now i have one month left and my bank just sold out to another bank and my account number is changing and i tried to get in contact with them to let them know that the last month would be a new account. well i have no way to contact them the guy didnt leave a number or anything so i tried calling the 800 number they say they have no record. but i called my bank and they gave me the name and the number to call and they still say they have no knowledge.

I dont have any past due accounts of any kind, I get calls constantly from this bonowitcz law firm regarding people who apparently have the same last name, Looks like these people just go thru the phone book and call anyone with the same last names. I have told them repeatedly to not call me...They are arrogant and very disrespectful.. How can I make these people quit calling my phone number? I am on the "do not call list" and am sick and tired of answering the phone to be put on hold as soon as I answer.. Is there some kind of legal action I can take against these people?

I have been a debt collector for the past 12 years and people only have bad things to say about us, we are paid to do a job, that is to collect on bad debt.  Now i have witnessed very rude collectors however i believe you can catch more bees with honey so where i am firm in my request for payment i am not rude and don't believe a law firm would be stupid enough to break the FDCPA or allow employees to do so...The bottom line is this....You owe the money....pay up !!!!!

These jerks called me, asked how to say my name, I said who is this.  He said an attorney, now give me your social security number, and birthdate.  I said I don't give that information over the phon.  He replied well, you are.  I said no, send it in the mail.  He said no, it doesn't work that way.  I told him to not call me again, and anything else should be sent in the mail.  I get 2-3 calls a day.  Blocked the number.  Very , very rude.

I am doing my research on creditors rights and the law.  If you have sent a cease and desist letter to the collection agency and they continue to contact you then they can be finded for each time they make a contact to you.  You must contact the correct party ( will look this info up ) and inform them.  You have one year from the day that they make each phone call to take action.  Keep all documents with dates and times and recorded phone conversations.  There are laws and they can not continue to abuse us.  No calls on Sundays.  No calls after 8 pm during the week.  No calls if they have been sent a cease and desist.  Everything everyone has said on the blog has happened to me.  I will not be harrased by this John C. Bonewicz.  Harrasement is against the law.

these people should not have access to our numbers at all. They call themselves federal management when they called.Someone should somthing to stop these kind of fraud people contacting us and harrassing us for nothing. May be the governor or state or federal should catch these people and lock them up. It is really disturbing when they harass you and yoru family and get all your personal info. Nobody should have acces to your personal info and no business bank or anyone should share your personal info to anyone without your permission. Maybe all these will stop. The cops should catch them for sure I hope so soon and put them behind bars forever.

Boy you are quite the a***ole....no wonder you are a debt collector with your shining personality what else could you possibly be.  You are hidious, malecious, malevolent and acting in bad faith.  Don't expect any mercifulness in life because you do not deserve it.

FYI when these jerks call you, record the conversation because they make all sorts of legal mistakes when they call and harrass you.  You will be able to use your recording in court as long as you let them know you are recording the conversation before you record it.  In all likelyhood the jerk will refuse to carry on the conversation.

There was a message on our office answering machine with a garbled, cut off message, but I heard the law office name.  I called back because we do see workman comp & MVA patients.  The woman on the other end was very rude (first finishing her lunch order to someone before even speaking to me).  I gave her our office phone number so that she could look up what they were calling about.  She said the name of the person (Deborah _____).  I asked whether she was patient.  No, she said, an employee.  I said not presently, was this person applying for a job.  The entire time this employee of a supposed law firm was very hostile.  She ended with hanging up on me.  This was so unusual I looked up the attorney's name and found this and other sites.  I haven't looked through past employees files yet for the name, but I just might to give her a heads up with all your advise.  She may very well need attorney representation.  This sounds like a predator/scavenger company.

This "attorney" has been calling me asking for someone who I've never heard of nor am I related to, sounding very threatening and trying sound "tough" by saying their office is located downtown in the loop in Chicago. WTF? I googled the number and it's in Aurora, IL, a VERY western suburb, not the loop. I finally figured out how to block calls and have been blocking but they call everyday from a different number. I'm shocked to see so many other people complaining about this firm. Anyone want to go in on a class action suit?

Best of luck to anyone who gets harassed by these jerks, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I too have recieved calls from them, I tried to get them to settle on a payment plan in which I could afford, but they will not work with me.  I sent them a Certified Letter disputing the amount owed and also wanted proof that they actually bought the debt from the original creditor.  I was told by my original creditor that it was sold to Square Too Financial, but some how I get calls from Bonewicz along with a letter.  No word as of yet on the ceritified with return reciept.

Received a call on my cell phone today from 216-502-3704. Left a message for my husband saying to call back at 1-800-700-2106 ext 7246 to talk to Mr. Casey from the law office of John C. Bonewicz. Said message would be marked time sensitive so it would be in his best interest to call before the end of business today. Also called our home phone last night from 216-502-3699. Only reason I know both of these numbers are from the same place is because I called the number that called our home phone from my cell to see who it was. As soon as they stated who they were on the recording, I hung up. We've been harassed by debt collectors for about a year now. Our financial situation is like everyone else. Plagued with unemployment, layoffs, reduction in income, and increases in daily living expenses has made it impossible to breath. I totally feel everyone's frustration and plight as I read the posts on here. It's so hard to make it. Keep praying and keep hope alive. There has to be something better than living like this everyday. Does anyone know who specifically they are collecting for? Do letters to them get any results? As far as cease and desist and finding out who they are collecting for. I appreciate all the information posted on these sites. Everyone has been very helpful and informative. This is what Ametica is about. Fellow citizens looking out for each other. Thank you! I know these collectors will be getting a letter from me and NO return or answered calls. On to their games and I don't need the stress or garbage.

I just spoke to a representative at this "Law Firm".  Asked them to send me written verification of the debt they are trying to collect. The person said I was just trying to buy more time from paying my debts and they were not sending anything. I am not giving any info to this "Firm" until they send me some written documentation of debt.  Also should point out that I was not very nice when they stated I was trying to buy time. I do not want my bank info in hands of a place that will not provide me info on what they are doing.

Mr. Runners,
Even if people owe a debt, they are still protected under debt collection practices law.  Your firm does not abide by these laws and if you are not careful will find yourselves on the receiving end of a lawsuit.
