Just received a call from this number - when I answered no-one was there. I am ex-directory and on TPS - how are these people getting our numbers and why are they telephoning.

Had a call from these guys a few minutes ago - the second of the week, last night they were selling loans but today it is mobiles - had the computer woman telling me I was in a queue and then Bob came on the line, I have TPS and when I pointed this out I got some serious abuse - he even called me a liar and said our government had given them my number.  Wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor or give me a number to call when they all got back from lunch - when I put the phone down on him he was stil ranting on.

I had this number call today to my home number in the UK.

When I answered, I got a message saying my call is in a queue and would be answered in rotation.  I hung up.

When I answered, I got a message saying my call is in a queue and would be answered in rotation.  I held on out of curiosity and spoke to a call centre asking for someone I'd never heard of.  I told them it was a wrong number and hung up.

Should be possible to sign up to the telephone preference service (UK)and let these people know that it is an offence to call you. I gather that telemarking companies can be sucessfully sued if you're on a do not call list such as TPS - turn it to your advantage:-)

They have called 3 times today. When I answer, there is never anyone on the other end.  

Looks like they have moved on to hassling us on the other side of the atlantic now! I'm in the UK and had this missed call today. 0018007018418. Couldn't figure out who from so I thought I'd try the Internet. And low and behold all your comments! Now I think of it, we've had a few calls from various Indian sounding people over the last couple of days. Claiming to be offering me some "Free" Mobile phone and persistently using the word "Obviously". They won't take no for an answer. One got so far as to say it'd cost me £12 something a month before I hung up on em. How do we get our number off the list here guys? Is there any regulator on this kind of thing in the UK?

I've just started to get these calls... I answer and no one is there.  When I check the number it is 001 800 701 8418... strange since no other US number comes up... it usually says "number not available"

odd times 3 calls this week

I am in UK. They keep calling around launch time. When I answer no one is there. The caller id just shows the full number which is 0018007018418. The call come every day, and we receive 2-3 calls a day. This is very disturbing.
