1-800-704-0285 - a legit chase number. I called it the first time and there was no voice prompts, and the guy was asking questions pretty quickly, so it seemed fishy and I hung up. Went online, got chases customer service, they forwarded me to the fraud dept, who said this number was a directly line to the fraud/security dept.

Got a call from the number, they seemed legit, I did being to provide my personal info and when I thought I was being to generous I googled the number and came here. Afraid, I asked for them to prove they were with chase and he advised me to call a number from their website or credit card. So I did, and it turns out there was fraud activity going on. It seems like the number i first called and the confirmed chase number asked the same info and knew the same info. My conclusion is this number was real.

Received call from 1-800-454-9078 Claimed to be Chase Credit Card Fraud. It was automated asked we confirm recent transactions on our Freedom Card Acct. It provided the last four digits of this so called acct. Problem, we do not have a Freedom Card. I hung up and they called back and the auto voice ask for my wife by 1st and last name! Must have stolen/hacked bank info. I hung up. I then called Chase Directly to report the incidents. Yes it was a scam/fraud with numerous complaints recently.

My wife got a call from someone claiming to be Chase Fraud wanting to review activity on my account and they asked for our password. I called the number 1 800 704-0285 and the person did not identify who I was calling and ask my name and full credit card number. I told them I thought this was a fraud and he said you can call the number on the back of the card instead. Earlier I did call Chase through a legit # on the website and they said there was nothing unusual on the account and they would never ask our password on the phone. I asked about the 1-800 704-0285 and Chase did not verify it as legit. I guess I would never call this #, but rather a number on your card or on the Chase website.

They are criminals. I hope the FBI or the police investigate them and catch them. The try to convince you to give them your personal information. Do not speak with them. They should be reported and jailed for fraud.
Victim 2012-06-13 01:24:04 Unknown
These people are frauds. I have no idea why the FBI or the authorities have no investigated them. They are criminals who want to steal your information. Hang and up and report them.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

I received a phone call from Chase. They left me call back number as 800-704-0285 number and reference number. I called them back with the reference number they asked me about my transaction from couple days ago. They knew my name and I did not provide anything else, but a reference number they left me. Looks like it was Chase Visa after all. Lady on the phone did not tried to get any information from me except for confirmation that it was a valid transaction.
J 2011-12-02 18:16:34 Unknown
It isn't Chase. It is the fraud department with Wells Fargo
Robert 2011-09-28 17:58:27 Unknown
It's a valid number fromt their fraud dept.
David Newman 2011-06-06 20:58:18 Unknown
Legitimate number. It's used by JPMorganChase to check for credit card fraud.
real number 2011-06-06 20:58:18 Unknown
its a real number and they only call when there are weird charges and need to confirm them
Keith 2010-09-29 20:39:23 Unknown
It is fine..more or less. Chase really should put that number on their website. As is I simply called the fraud number on their site, went through the standard questions and talked to an agent who said their was a very specific transaction that raised a red flag. Told them it was legit and everything was fine. Good they were looking out. Annoying that they call with a number that is not easily confirmed.

Received call asking me to call back 800-704-0285. I'm always suspicious of these things. And anyone else should be too.
If ever in doubt, just call the number on the back of your credit card. I did regarding this issue. In this case, the number is for Chase fraud dept, but why take the chance?
If you use common sense, you'll be fine, just don't panic.
Shawn 2010-01-04 18:41:58 Unknown
This is a scam call... I have received 3 calls and have been given two differet bogus numbers. (800) 704-0285 and (800) 876-4818 The scammers are tryimg to get the Vin number on the back of your card.
If you want to double check always call the number on the back of your card.
Do Not give any information to these pieces of trash!!!

800-704-0285 is valid and is Chase. They noticed suspicious charges at strange times on one of company cards and denied the transactions. Good for them. They were great.

1-800-704-0285 is a VALID number for Chase. It is the direct number to the Business Credit Card Fraud Operations department. Calling this number will take you directly to a Fraud Representative without going through the prompt menu.
847-488-6000 is the local number of our office. When any calls are made out of this specific office, it will carry the building phone number. We are located in Elgin, IL so that is where the 847 area code is coming from.
If we called you, it's generally because we want to verify some activity on your account. Normally, we will put a block on your account until you call us back. This is to prevent any further charges in case it really is someone else using it against your permission.
If you do not call us back, we will try calling you again and the hold will remain on your account, preventing you from using the card. This is for your protection and the bank's.
Again, 1-800-704-0285 is a VALID phone number for JP Morgan Chase Business Card Fraud Operations. 847-488-6000 is the building phone number we are calling from in Elgin, IL.
If you have any concerns, we always advise to call the phone number on the back of your card. Follow the prompts through the menu. If there is a hold on your card, it will normally get routed directly to Fraud. If there is no hold, it will be routed to Customer Service. With either rep, you can verify that phone number with them as valid.
Ohh, by the way, if we are calling YOU, we (normally) do not ask you to give us any information. We might ask you questions like "Are you still residing on So-and-So street?" or other questions like that. We will provide YOU the information, you just say yes or no.

1-800-704-0285 is Chase Fraud protection. I called their contact # off their website to make sure and they verified that this is a legitimate # from their fraud department.
Cardholder 2009-01-29 20:52:59 Unknown
It's a fraud. If you ever get a call from this number, do NOT call them back. Call the number on the back of your card instead.
Bruce Nayowith 2009-01-06 15:39:24 Unknown
I did the same. I called the main Chase number customer service on the back of my credit card, and they verified that it IS legit, and that yes, someone had called me earlier today.
They also said that, if there are EVER any questions, all I need to do is to call the MAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER at the back of the credit card, and ask THEM to connect me to the Fraud Dept, so I don't have to dial any strange numbers that I don't recognize.
Makes sense to me

The 800-704-0285 is the Chase Fraud phone number. It is not a bogus number. You can contact Chase to verify.
