4/29/14 325pm Got a call from this number and after a pause it only said 'We're sorry we have the wrong number."
I said OK then hung up but worried that it might be a scam using my OK for something else.

I received a call from this number on 4/16. On 4/18 I started getting fraudulent charges to my debit card, one from Mexico and two from UK. Cancelled my card today once I caught this and BOA is refunding me fraudulent charges. Check your bank accounts just in case!

Got the same thing as Bimage above verbatim and from Alissa.  My return # was 800-538-0096.  I came close to calling back because I am in the process of getting a new card.  I am so glad that I googled before called!

I just received a scam call  from 800-709-9925 also (we have reached your number in error message) -when i called back just a strange beep. There needs to be a reporting agency or something to gather info about this type of call. Am I on someone's list? Obviously.

I got this same message the other day offering me a rate as low as 2% on my credit card.  Funny thing is that I just did a balance transfer to a zero rate for 14 months so 2% makes no sense, and proves the call could not have been legitimate. That's why I have caller ID and a delete button!  Deee-lete!

I got a call today from the same number. It is probably a scam to determine what time of day you are home so the dialer can preschedule a telemarketing call on a future day on or around the same time.

I just received this same call. My question is this, how do you know you have reached my number in error when you didn't even ask who was speaking? Do not call has been a joke since day one.

At 4:35 pm on March 18, 2014 the phone rang and the caller ID showed the call was from out of area. As soon as I said hello the caller said "We're sorry we have reached the wrong number" and ended the call. It sounded like a recording, but maybe it was a live person. I get sick of the LAZY scammers that think they will get some one to fall for their crap. The number that came up was 800-709-9925.

First time we got one of these calls. It better be the last. They tie up the phone and you cannot even use it if there is an emergency. Will never do business with creeps who make these calls. They need a hex put on them that will give them incurable itching in unreachable places.

I didn't pick up.. received the following recorded message on my voicemail:

"Hello, this is Alissa from Card Services in the Underwriting Department.  I am calling on your existing credit card account.  Based on your recent payment activity and balance, you're eligible for an interest rate reduction under our debt management program.  Your account interest rate could be reduced as low as 2 percent.  There's additional information I need to confirm your eligibility, so please return my call directly in the Underwriting Department at 800-538-0096.  Once again, that's 800-538-50096.  This will be the only notice you'll receive, and this offer is only valid for 3 business days.  Thank you."

She failed to name which credit card account she was referencing or name of company she represents - simply "Card Services."  The call came in as 800-709-9925 on Caller ID but message directed me to call 800-539-0096

Folks, two things.  First, the Do Not Call list does work. The companies who follow the law don't call you any more. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that 99.9% of these calls you are getting are either scammers or companies who figure that they are too small for the FTC to go after. Why bother to answer? Would you buy an alarm from a company who broke the law to sell it to you?

Second, the reason you are getting a "sorry wrong number" robo message is because their operator wasn't ready to talk to you.  These scumbags figure that your chances of answering their call when they call back are greater because they figure you will want to know why someone would call  your "wrong number" twice. Rather than creeping you out by just hanging up because no operator was available to talk to you, you get the robo "sorry wrong number" message.

Hope this sheds light on the mystery.

Got this call today, with a recorded robotic sounding message of a man saying he had reached my number in error.

Since this call is evidently trying to find valid phone numbers for telemarketers or scammers, I have now blocked it on my Panasonic KX-TG4771.  The phone was worth every penny, since it lets me block up to 30 phone numbers as well as all out of area numbers that don't list a phone number.

Scammers, Some middle  eastern noob, Told him when he goes to the zoo the animals shake and  hide, When he goes to family reunions all the young children and the dogs hide too. He started cussing at me . I really like to ask them to repeat and start over as I bang the handset on the desk. What the heck might as well enjoy the ride.
