Legit.
Call the number on the back of your card, they will forward you to credit card security. I was travelling out of the country and swiped most of my transactions and this triggered the call. My card was cancelled and another was sent out.
J.P. 2013-09-24 17:04:59 Unknown
This is a legit number. However call your bank immediately as your credit or debit card have been compromised.

I called RBC at the number on my credit card and they told me that this number is a good number. I wouldn't call this number but I would verify the call using a known RBC number.
steve 2013-09-19 07:24:20 Unknown
Legitimate,
I recieved the same message on my home answering machine and cell phone voicemail. I didn't call the number back but instead. I called the number on the back of my debit card, and said that i recieved a message claiming their security department was trying to reach me. They said that their wasn't anything wrong with my account and that the number 1 800 713 9195 wasn't theirs.
Well, I just called the number on the back of my rbc credit card and told the operator that I recieved a message claiming to be from their security department. The operator transfered me to the security department that said that my card number indeed had been compromised. The security department read me my latest transactions and thankfully everything was fine and my account wasn't tampered with. The operator then instructed me to destroy my credit card since she just cancelled it and that I will be recieving a new one in the mail.
Moral of the Story - Call the number on the back of your card, but tell them what the message you recieved and that it was their security department that was trying to reach you.
Koko 2013-09-13 00:51:22 Unknown
This is NOT a scam. My card was indeed compromise. Do yourself a favor and call them ASAP. If you are worried like I was, then call the number at the back of your credit card, press 0, and ask to be transferred to Risk Management.
GP 2013-08-26 21:08:08 Unknown
Completely legit, call RBC.
Suzanne 2013-08-15 20:21:02 Unknown
this is a call from Royal Bank. Call the number on the back of your Credit Card. Ask if Royal Bank has been trying to contact you.
Bill 2013-06-09 00:43:45 Unknown
My caller identified himself as Royal Bank security, left a number to call and said "or call number on back of your card", left a reference number and his name......I called the number on the back of my card and gave her the name and reference number....she said she could take care of it and asked me if I was on holidays in Santo Domingo?....I said no way, I am at home in *******...she said my card number was being used in Santo Domingo and I said jeez, cancel it right away!....we discussed how this breach haD OCCURRED
Robert 2013-05-28 00:02:40 Unknown
its a good number, call your branch, I just checked it.
Robert 2013-05-27 23:12:40 Unknown
He probably is working with them, got the same call, its scammers..
Rob 2013-05-23 16:47:46 Unknown
The message left in my voicemail was of the nature "...immediately toll free at 1800 719195 to verify activity... it is important we speak with you"
Let me confirm that this call is legit! I also had the same concern that I may be getting a phising call, but I called RBC through the number at the back of my bank card and they confirmed to me that the call was indeed from their security department.
Moral of the story is: even if you cannot trust any other RBC number found on the web or given to you by others, you can at least trust the number printed on their bank or credit card to get the verification that you need.
A 2013-05-16 20:13:12 Unknown
Although I couldnt find the number on the net as RBC, but when I called a number I found on their site, they did confirm that it is theirs.
hey transfered me to Security, and I have an other number you can call if you dont trust this 9195 one.:
1-800-361-0152
Johnpaul 2013-05-13 18:23:43 Unknown
I received a call from this number saying they where from Royal Bank and that I should er urgently call this number. I instead called the number on the back of my bank card. The actual Royal Bank people said this number is NOT a real royal bank number. This is a phishing attempt.
Diane 2013-05-06 16:41:31 Unknown
This call was legit. I received a call from this number and a voicemail was left on my cellphone. The voicemail did not mention who its calling from, so I ignored the message. After a few minutes, the same number was calling my work phone. I picked it up and this time, the automated message mentioned RBC security. I called the number at the back of my credit card and the customer service person that I was talking to confirmed that the call was legit and it's from RBC. It's something about using my credit card where there might have been a security breach.
Jane 2013-04-30 18:54:40 Unknown
I just got this call too and the recording said my name and to "press any number to continue". I hung up.
$bojangles 2013-04-18 18:39:03 Unknown
The call was legit..I called RBC security and they confirmed that my Visa card may have been compromised.I conveyed to him (RBC) that I find the auto caller with a request to return the call for verification is a poor strategy to run security checks on cards...who knows who is out there phising??It is not like you are speaking to a real person!
Chris 2013-03-22 23:48:03 Unknown
Had a message to call this number. I was skeptical so called my branch who put me through to security. Apparently my card has been used at a merchant know for fraud so they are sending me a new card/deactivating the current number. She went through the current charges which were all valid so no issues there.
Leo 2013-03-20 18:06:01 Unknown
It's legitimate. I called RBC Visa instead of the 800-713-9195 number and they redirected me back to that source. My credit card had been compromised and needed to be replaced.
Jamie 2013-03-13 00:55:37 Unknown
This was for real, i know the automated thing sounds like a scam but it IS NOT A SCAM!
My wife received the call and had a message on her answering machine. She called it back to see what it was but became suspicious herself about the fact that it was an automated service which is weird for something telling you that your card has been compromised and is asking you security questions. So RBC you might want to rethink that...
Anyways, I called RBC Visa card service and they said that there was suspicious activity on my account and then transfered me to the security service department.
Believe what you want, but you might be unhappy if you have a cancelled card, or worse yet charges that you didn't make.
pauk 2013-02-26 18:32:46 Unknown
you idiots. the call is legit. if you ignore it best case scenario is you're going to wind up with a cancelled credit card that won't work; worst case is someone's running up a bunch of charges on it. Don't post stuff about it being phishing and a scam if you don't know what you're tlaking about
Mike 2013-02-22 19:49:40 Unknown
Yup,
Legit Royal Bank number. Sounded super sketchy, but I called the branch and my card had been used at a store where the machine had been tampered with. No fraudulent charges on my card, but they are sending me a new one.
I would prefer an automated call that says "this is RBC, please phone us regarding your credit card", but instead they choose to creep you out with this automated interactive call - oh well!
Mike

This number isn't a hoax although it does seem sketchy. They called my cell and my work number nearly simultaneously to let me know of the issue. When I called back they didn't ask me for any personal information aside from confirming what my name was and to push a button to confirm my postal code. They ask to confirm your last few purchases (they read them back to you) and you say yes or no. They don't ask you for your CC number or anything like that.
This number is legit, so don't be paranoid, but you can always call the bank directly if you really wanted to.
Dave 2013-02-15 19:13:24 Unknown
I also received the call and also thought it was a hoax. So I instead called the # on the back of my card to report it. Well, it turns out there was suspicious activity on my credit card and the bank did try to contact me through an automated service. So, as rmon said, call the bank directly. Don't ignore it though.
rmon 2013-01-31 21:26:42 Unknown
got a call from these guys - landed in my voicemail; it' s a phishing call as the message was exactly what keebler above said- if you get a call from this number, call your bank directly; they will tell you that this # is used by scammers; wonder if emmanuel is working for them
Emmanuel 2013-01-03 19:27:57 Unknown
Got a call from this number ... called Royal bank afterwards to be sure it was a legitimate number that they have and it is. So don't worry it's legit.
Grace 2012-11-20 21:30:25 Unknown
I received a call and a message from this company claiming to be Royal Bank. They asked me to call back 1-800-713-9195. It appears to be a phishing scam. Don't call them back.
walter 2012-11-14 21:04:55 Unknown
Actually, I got a message from the same number 1-800-713-9195 . It was Royal Bank's security. They said that my card has been compromised and they need to send me a new one.
Keebler 2012-10-23 16:42:09 Unknown
I got a message this morning from the same phone #. Claimed to be Royal Bank security & to call back immediately. They wanted me to verify activity to avoid difficulties using my card. Didn't call the # back but the bank instead. Was advised this is not a Royal Bank # & a phishing scam.
CelBoy 2012-10-22 19:25:23 Unknown
Got a call claiming to be from World Bank Security, and to press # 1
