I entered a raffle at an outlet mall about a month or two ago. I received a call a few dAys back and was told I won a trip and a possibly other prizes. I did my research but despite all the negative feedback I drove two ridiculous hours. I was curious on how a company like this one have so many complaints and accused of being scammers but yet their company has been in business for well over 8 years. I was greeted by a sales counselor by the name of Mary, she was very nice and outgoing. She gave me a tour of their resort which was called the village resort in Flint Texas. The amenities were great! I love everything from their indoor water park, pool, lake, horseback riding, 2 bedroom two bath condo, activities, but there is always a catch. After the tour she brought us back and compared the difference in amenities of a hotel to one of their many resorts. How instead of paying $200-500 a night to only $50 a night for a blue or white member. They are privately own and only member are able to have access to their resort. Their sales pitch sounded great but I was not ready to pay a roughly amount around $450 a month for 38 months to pay off $15,000. After that is paid off you will officially own your own condo but a club fee will be countinouse which maybe hoa. I was really interested in a purchase but sadly my spouse was not with me and I wanted to come back with him to the location in a few weeks to make a final decision. They did not answer my question if I could come back but instead insisted for me to make a down payment to lock down the deal since it their promotion day and the deal will only be for that day. I refused, another lady came and tried to make me pay for a lower amount of down payment which would be the sampler package; I refused because I did not want to make a decision without my spouse. Their personality changed each time I refused and just turned into rudeness. I was later told to go claim my prize at another building, they gave me the scratch card with 25 boxes, scratch 5 gold pots, and you win one of their cars. I did get it, then I was told to match the number on the scratch off to see if I won the 1500 shopping spree, $500, or a trip voucher. Trip voucher is what I got and whoopy-doo. I will use this voucher for my trip to Orlando.

I found this complaint made by an former employee, you may want to read it.

the first call i got was from a 1888-242-8925  spk to the rep and she said i wont etc. tranffered me to 1800-720-5621 spoke to another rep that said the same crap as others at the top are saying . i believed it since i did sign those raffles in the mall , which i did from the Town East Mall  , so they tell me i need to go to Tyler tx and do a 90 minute timeshare etc, i told them i could not drive out there it is to far from my location , so they offered to go to the Irving location , which is like 15 min away from my home. but after reading these comments dont think i want to waste my time . it seems from reading these comments that no one wins the grand-prize of 50k cash or the mercedes . so will pass this one up , they already expect me to be there, but ill just leave them hanging. Thank you internet for saving me from wasting my time .

I was told to go to the location 18270 Singingwood Ln Flint Tx 75762, I stay in Dallas and dont want to make that far of a drive if its just going to be a scam or if they are gonna have me pay for something... If someone could please txt me(469-964-6981) ASAP and let me know if I should go I would highly appreciate it.

Ok so I entered in there raffle for a trip at day in the country and got the call saying I won. I had an appointment to go to the resort at 2 today and had to cancel because of transportation issues. The representative then informed me I can come to a place in Irving to just watch a presentation and assured me I did not need to bring Any money and I will still walk away with my prizes in hand. SO. I went to that Village Resort drawing winner sales presentation thingamajig today, and I told y'all that I would, so I'm here with the whole story:

I walked in, the room was full of people. I gave them my name and confirmation number, and they gave me a form to fill out with name, address, phone number, email address, birth month and year, and that was all- no credit card number, no SS# nothing too shady.

I turned in the form and was asked for a photo ID and a credit card, but I had read the fine print and called to double check before hand, so I knew that the credit card was only supposed to be as a second form of ID, so I reminded them of that and gave them my license and student ID. They took it, I sat down.

They had fresh popped popcorn, cookies and a soda machine in the waiting area, and Madagascar playing on a flat screen in front of a bunch of comfy chairs. I waited about 15 minutes and a nice, good looking guy came out and called my name, shook my hand and led me into the back.

The guy's name was D* and we sat down in a room full of people paired with "vacation consultants" (not sales associates, mind you ;P). He asked me what I do and I told him I'm a full time student and he said, are you working at all? and I told him my projected annual income was about $1,500 at the moment. He laughed, and I leaned forward.

I said, "Here's the deal. I know that this whole setup is to bring people in to hear a presentation at the end of which they will be encouraged to buy or sign up for something. I just told you why I totally can not afford that option, but I want you to know that I understand that this is your job, and I also understand and respect that you expected if not required to try to pitch whatever you're selling to me as hard as you can. So I just wanted to put us on the same page- I'm not going to get annoyed with you or resentful of you for doing your job, but don't strain yourself too hard, and don't feel bad when you haven't made a sale at the end. Does that make sense? I just don't want to waste your time if there are other, more receptive customers waiting that can actually get you a commission."

He looked at me and said, "I want to thank you for being upfront and honest," (at this point he leaned forward and opened the brochure on the table, picked up his pen) "So here's what I'm going to do- I am required to give you a presentation for at least an hour, so we came in here at what, 10:15? so I'm just going to fill this thing out" (he started scribbling all over the pages of the brochure, filling in blanks with numbers and crossing out prices, circling other prices, drawing arrows, etc.) "while you tell me about what you're studying at school, and we're just going to have a conversation" (at this point he is doing an impressive job of looking like he's telling me about the greatest thing in life while filling out this brochure) and after about half an hour we'll go walk around a little bit, I'll show you the facility and you'll look at some pictures, oooo and aaah, and then I can get you your prize." He pointed at a display on the wall, where his photo was posted under "Salesman of the month" or something like that, and said "I don't earn that title by being pushy and making people feel obligated, I do it by being respectful and polite. So what are you studying?"

We talked a while, and he did summarize all the packages and information he is obliged by his job to share, and he gave me a tour of the facilities- which, incidentally, if I had any income at all, might have been genuinely tempting, especially with such a low pressure salesman.

Now another guy comes over, probably a sales technique, to sell me a little harder or from a different angle, and I sang D*'s praises and then he and I chatted about school and my (lack of) profession. He finally looked at the brochure, said, "you're a student, right? no income?.... OK I'll just come out and ask you, can you afford a down payment of $465 and $185/month membership fee?" "Nope" "OK, I tried. Now I'm going to go file your prize paperwork so you can collect it, and a manager is going to come over here and ask you how we did, whether we sold well, etc. When you finish with him you can collect your prize."

So I did the rigumroll with the manager guy, who was a little more aggressive but saw a lost cause when it was poking him in the nose, so after about 5 minutes I went into a room where I filled out a form detailing my experience, and D*'s courteousness, etc.

FINALLY I got in the room, and scratched off a little lotto ticket looking thing, which told me that (SHOCKINGLY) I had not won the $49,000 grand prize. But I had won the consolation prize of an 5 day, 4 night Island resort vacation and for sitting through the presentation with D* I had also recieved my choice of a trip to Vegas, Orlando (2 nights, 1 day) or a 5 day, 4 night Cruise to one of 4 beach/island destinations.

That's 2 vacations for sitting through a 90 minute, low pressure sales presentation.

Not all sales guys are obviously going to be as nice as D*, but I think even with an annoying, pushy, unattractive sales dude it would've been a fair trade for 2 vacations.

I have to pay the taxes and the particular destinations I selected require that I procure airfare (not all of them did, just, inevitably, the nicer ones), so that's the "catch", but all in all a perfectly productive use of 2 hours.

Just read the fine print and you'll be ok

I got the call after entering a drawing at Taste of Dallas. I figure, even if they call every person that entered, these days that's a lot less people than it used to be. I'm confident that I can sit through 90 minutes of aggressive sales because I literally have not got 2 cents to rub together (living on student loans at the moment) and can not be persuaded to purchase anything with money I don't have. That said, a trip to Orlando would be *really* cool, and since I don't have class that day I'm going to go to the Irving location. I'll let y'all know what happens.

about two weeks ago my friend called me super excited because she was given a call from these people. after she talked to me about it that morning i never asked her about it again UNTIL i myself received that SAME exact call, and i thought to myself " nope, its gotta be a scam because what are the chances that we both get a call about this. so then i called my friend to see what had happened with that situation and she said that they do give you the trip but that you have to pay for the taxes of the trip you choose. and airfare is not included for the island get way..sounds fishy to me. i am not going to attend this.

I will not go to this meeting. I entered such a sweepstakes at Six Flags: Great America in Gurnee, IL and they claimed I won. After research, I found all these scams that Silverleaf had pulled and therefore have stopped answering all calls.
