Says it's Barbara Johnson from some bank that is not quite understood. I looked thru my MSN and see a barbara_jxn@hotmail.com who is allowed to see me.  I've never added this person!  Great - thanks again MS!!

They have called my cell phone 5 times.  I finally did call them back to get my name off the list.  I can't even reject their calls because their number is withheld.

I keep getting calls from this number, and they are asking for a Mrs. Tingle (?). The name is slightly muffled and low, so I am not entirely sure that is correct. I'm afraid to continue listening to the message that they leave on my cell's voicemail because it says that would confirm that I am Mrs. Tingle. Who the heck is this number????

Private Caller on caller ID - message listed a computerized name that was not understandable and said if you are not that person to hang up - can't understand it so don't if I am. Then a different voice said Barbara Johnson 800-720-7281 was calling from Penn Credit Corp and I should hang up if I'm not that person. There will be a 3 second pause with a private message - message didn't amount to anything other than saying they were trying to collect a debit (which I have none of). If I wasn't this person I was suppose to call 800-900-1380 to have my number removed. Think all of this is a complete scam for what reason I don't have a clue - I don't intend to call any of these numbers as I don't think any of them would take me off their list - just let them know I exist.

800-720-7281  Calls and leaves same types of messages looking for somebody that I don't know.  Getting old though, seems very harassing.

   Unfortunately, your calls to my home phone proceed without interruption when intercepted by my voice mail system.  On several occasions I have had guests and other family members with me when your and other calls have been played back.  There is a specific statement in your announcement referencing your status as a collection agency.  This blatant and inexcusable announcement has been an unforgivable embracement to me.  So much so that I can no longer play back any messages when I return home with guests.  For fear that there will be a recorded call from your company.  This situation is untenable for me as it hampers the freedom to use my own phone.

   Therefore,  Pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, U.S.C. section 805, you are hereby notified to cease and desist all further communications with me in regards to any creditors  that you claim to represent.

  Failure to abide by the afore mentioned law will result in a complaint being filed against Penn Credit Corporation, entity number 958753, Penn Credit Corporation II, entity number 3065313,  your company’s management as follows: Donald C. onight got our first call to return a call to 800 720 7281 for Tammy Dees, which is a former occupant of our address, which we've seen on J C Penny ads mailed here. This is began today after telling Philips & Cohen to drop dead. We have not told them any names and they're not going to get any names.

You are right!  This is a tactic that they are using.  They did this to me recently.  A month before they called, they sent a statement to my parents home.  My parents opened it by mistake.  I have not lived at home since 1989.  They do know your family members and will try to trick them and you.

I think I figured out this scam.  They call and ask for a family members name, in my case it is my father.  They say, if you are not this person do not listen to the rest of the message.  I did continue to listen.  It tells you to call a number, 1-800-720-7281 if you are not this person.  Guess what, when you call they suddenly reverse the call and you are the person they are looking for.  It is a total scam to get you to call them.  Interesting thing is, my number is unlisted and if they obtained it they did it illegally.  The other thing is, it is also illegal to trick a person to call by using another name.  They need reported for this practice.  I am calling the attorney general today and reporting them.

This number keeps calling our company and asking for Mitchell Moon. We are a non-profit organization that has to pay for calls coming in on our toll free number. This robo call, calls daily & is starting to cost us some serious money. I have called to remove our number but it does not help!

I keep getting calls from a company that does not identify themselves and now have an automated system that tells you a number to call if you are not the person they are asking for and if you are that person to stay on the line.  I called the above number and when you call they still do not identify themselves and it is also automated and they ask for you to leave the name date time of the call and the name of the person and phone number so they can take them off the list to stop the calls.  If you push the 5 on your cell phone while the message is playing you will be given the time and how long the call was so I had to go to all that trouble.  I even went to the directory and punched in three bogus letters that were common enough to get an extention to a real persons VOICEMAIL and then I left the entire message again and told them if they would have the courtesy to call me back with the name of their company.  That was the least they could do for bothering me so many times and I take the COURTESY to do as they ask of me! It is ridiculous.  I just got this cell phone number in the last year and omg this lady owes everyone and even had a process server ask me if I was home so they could come serve me papers for that MARIA!!  I should of told them yes because this number is supposed to be resrtricted when I got it and there is no address attached to it anyway...Hey there's an idea for the next caller! No privacy anymore!! Do not call lists are geting usesless also as they leave long messages and solicit now!

I do not think the name requested is our phone number.  Please stop calling our phone number.

Just checked my land line and got one of them, asking for a 'Jimmy Kirk." Now, the only person who calls me (or dares to call me) Jimmy is my 70+ year old 1st Cousin Ann in Natchez, MS, and I've never had any credit cards, or purchased anything - cash or credit - under that name.

On the other hand, I've recently gotten some spam from some "Kirks" addressing me as "Jimmy," "James," etc., "alerting" me to the possibility of my having some lost money somewhere.... Although the sender used Kirk as a last name, it still wound up in my "spam locker" (thank you, Gmail!). I've recently gotten involved on genealogy sites, so it sounded likely - until I got an email from "Grandmother Kirk" (who passed away back in the early '60s, and was known by her nickname!).

Sounds like a scam/pshing attack to me! Next time, I'm forwarding it on to the ic3.com website!

Same as the others. Please call if "Joan Robinson" isn't at this number. I spoke to my phone company and they said not to call any number, as there is a scam going that when you call they begin charging you $$$$ per minute for the call. The big question is how to make them stop calling??!!

Same situations as above, except for me they are calling for a "Mrs. *dramatic pause* Tingle". However the voice is slightly muffled and very low, so it makes it hard to understand. I really hate all these calls. I usually get a call once a week.

They call me during when I am not home and leave a message for Vivian and tell me if I am not Vivian, to call this number.  I call, as instructed, to report that there is no Vivian living at my number. A note that when you call back the number, you can not talk to a live person, and it does not tell you who is calling and for what reason.

this a call for Daniel Parker, if this is not Daniel Parker do not listen to this message.

He does not live here and they are becoming a nuisance.

Automated message left for person whose name I can't understand.  Notes that if it isn't the person message to call 800-721-7281 to have the number removed.  Notes that you should not listen to the message if you are "name given".  Gives you three second and notes that they will leave the message and you should listen privately.  Gives another 3 seconds and then the call disconnects.  Did a search and found that some sites note that it is a debt collector, others a phishing scam.  First call that we have received of this nature.  Somewhat concerned about the origin.
