I got a recorded call from Scott, so I called them. They answered as Certified Sales Jobs. (my caller I.D. only said "800 Service")
WATCH OUT !!  THEY MAY BE GOING BY OTHER NAMES FOR THEIR COMPANY !!
It looks like this company is doing a SCAM !!!  They get your name (your resume) off the career-builder web site.
Then they call you and tell you they represent companies that are hiring.
BUT !! They want to do a background check on YOU before they will present you to a company.
BUT !! There is a charge to do this.
SOOOOO, they tell you the fee is $29, and you can put it on your credit card.
NOW, TAKE A MINUTE AND THINK ABOUT IT !!
You will need to give them your SS#, date of birth, and other information to do a background check.
THEN !! you give them your credit card.
NOW, they have ALL  (YES, ALL) the necessary information on you to SCAM and STEAL your NAME, CREDIT, BANK ACCOUNT and your good REPUTATION !!
DO NOT do it, my friends. DO NOT !!  (unless you have lots of money and your good name to throw away).
I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, THIS IS A REAL LIVE SCAM !!!!

Got the call about 10 minutes ago.  Callers name was "Gabriel".  He was talking so fast.  Very unprofessional sounding, coughed in my ear a couple of times.  I asked him 3 times for the name of the company.  He said, "you didn't hear me the first two times..."  That's when I knew.  I let him talk a little longer.  As soon as he launched into the "one time investment of $29.95" I started laughing.  He said, "did I say something funny"  I said yep!  and hung up.

Don't do it!!!

FRAUD--  they call talk fast- and to the point- dont give any info.  if anything question them.
Scoot or even Paul Martin will talk to you, and then say he'll transfer you.  They'll charge more than the thirty something they have stated and charged 97 to your card.

Got a call from "Scott" (recording), said "press 1 if you'd like to speak with someone now, press 2 if you'd like a call back later or press 3 if you've accepted a job and are no longer looking for work". Now that I know what the scam is, I wont be taking the follow-up call (if it ever comes at all).

Yes, since I've posted my resume on CB I have had a handful of great job prospects and actual interviews.
Have any of you thought of returning the cold call and investigating the opportunity offered rather than rejecting it
out of annoyance? You might be pleasantly surprised.

I just received the call, as all above me have mentioned from "Scott".  Even though I am actively looking for a job, I still don't answer unknown or 800 numbers.  If it is indeed a real company who wants to speak to me, they'll leave me a message.  I've been on the receiving end of a few of the phone scams lately so anytime I receive such calls I immediately turn to my friend, Google, to search the number.  This "Scott" of course didn't leave the name of any company he was calling from, just to give him a call back at 1-800-725-0801.  It's really sad that there are predators out there going after honest people who are in need of real, honest work.

Keep up the searches out there.  The difference between job sites now and 5, 4, 3, or 2 years ago is the amount of jobseekers on them.  When unemployment was 6% there were more jobs than people looking.  Now it is 10%, give ot take, and companies are going out of business or on a hiring freeze.

The lack of calls on Career Builder or Monster or any other is just a result of supply and demand.  When looking check out www.indeed.com.  They pull jobs from both careerbuilder and monster as well directly from some company websites.

Reach out to recruiters/headhunters just do't pay them.  They generally get their fees from the employer but there are some out there that will try to charge you.

I was in the emplyment field for 4 years worked for a job board and a recruiting company and I am having difficulties finding a good fit.  When you have candidates that were previously VP of sales applying for an account executive position it makes my resume look pretty bad.

Long story short...keep doing what you are doing.  Try looking up local networking events and by all means reach out to friends, family and prior coworkers.  Most jobs are filled through referrals.

Who is Scott and why would I pay for a service for pharm sales position when I have no background in that department.  In addition, the guy I spoke with says we have been in business for 7 years.  I am annoyed that career builder allows this.

Don't answer phone calls from a caller ID that's an 800#.  Don't respond to recorded messages left on yoru voice mail, either.  This "we've seen your resume" junk is just another way to prey on those of us on Monster.com or other services, who are looking for honest work.

1-866-814-1671. I got a call from Janet. This is obviously a scam. NEVER NEVER NEVER pay someone to submit your resume! Shame on these people for trying to take advantage of hard working people trying to find jobs. There is another person named Scott with the number 800-730-0791 who is working the same scam. BEWARE! If someone calls you and they don?t identify the company they are with and they leave some vague message, it is a scam. How stupid do you think people are? JERKS!!!

SCAM SCAM SCAM they got me though, I paid the 29.00 and was charged 39.08, so I called the bank and closed the account, then called them and was rudely spoken too, I asked for a refund they said they did it and hung up on me, so I called back and asked for a credit authorization # and was given one, but I wont hold my breath, It's a very sad world we live in, when people take advantage of people who are jobless, or old and vulnerable, and just trying to live there lives.

Here is there Website:  https://www.certifiedsalesjobs.com/account/login

I spoke with a Tresa Taylor  she's good at her scam so watch out !!!!!

I would love to see these these guys be taken out and prosecuted !!!!!!!

I got the call on my voice mail. I know better than to call an unsolicited number without checking on the internet. That's when I found this blog. Here is what I did. I called them back and was placed on hold. A guy (don't recall his name) started in on his pitch, I said that I was out of town and asked him to call me right back at:  (210) 225-6741. I will be standing by for your call as I a VERY interested in pharma (or what ever) sales.

Of course that number is to the San Antonio FBI field office. Here is a link to the FBI main page where you can find your state and if you are sufficiently ticked off, you can actually report the abuse. OOOHHH sounds like fun to me!

I got the recorded message from Scott, with a call back number of 800-730-0791. Called the number and spoke with a "Joe" a few moments ago, and was told the exact same things as others have listed, above.  I'll look for the follow-up e-mail, but won't be acting on this - it sounded phony from the word go, and it is.  Be careful!

I'm glad to a certain point I'm not the only one getting scammed, and as far as career builders it's not what it used to be.  It is a place for people to get there hopes up but only to be dissappointed to only get responses from insurance jobs to payment processing and other bogus jobs that are commission only.  With companies not willing to invest in any of there sales people and all expenses out of our pockets it no wonder all we see on these job boards are S..t jobs.....

I too got the call today from "Scott".  When I called I got John on the phone.  John told me that Scott screens the resumes.  I had the same conversation as above how they needed to do the check, etc. and it would only be $29.  After his entire script I proceeded to tell him that I knew that reputable companies do not use recruiting firms that charge the applicant, that the company hiring pays the firm.  He responded by telling me that the company does pay them usually within 30 days.  He completely ignored my point which was that reputable companies would NOT use a firm that charged the applicant PERIOD!  I told him I needed to check with my husband and make sure he was ok with me paying the fee (which was some of the same BS he was feeding me.)  I had NO intention of paying $29, I've been around the block a little and listen to the scam warnings all over tv and the internet and the second he mentioned ME paying anything it put up a BIG RED FLAG.  When I told him that he got very cold and said to call when I was ready to proceed.  I asked about receiving the information by email that he said I would receive and he said I would receive that after paying but I would receive an email with their contact info.  It's now been 5 hours and I haven't received any such email.

They did not get my resume of CB, I actually responded to an ad on Craigslist and sent my resume to them.

BTW, if they were actually a real recruiting firm they would have my resume stored in their system so why did he ask my address, email address, phone number, etc.???  I suspect they simply write down names and phone numbers of potential victims and don't waste money printing resumes or storing them in their system.

FYI, the callback number given by Scott was 800-727-9209 so both these numbers are involved in this scam.

I received Scott's call, and got all excited, returned the call today and spoke with Paul Martin in "human resources".  He told me they could place me with a company in approx 30 days, after pre-screening me... The high profile companies they represent do not want just any applicant and prefer them to be  pre-qualified with a background check.  I asked for more info about the company since they are asking for a 29.00 fee.  He had me pull up certifiedsalesjobs.com.  There is no company information what so ever on this website! NOT GOOD to conduct business with a company that cannot be verified.
I told him I would need to get back with him or perhaps sign up on line.  Paul then told me that the 29.00 was at a 25% discount vs. signing up on line.  It would only take a few minutes, and what credit card would I like to use?  Now we are in hard sell mode!  I told him that would be a NO!
So glad I "clued in" looks like a few people did get scammed!  It's so easy to go for it when you are constantly sending out resumes with no results!   Scam, scam, scam!

They called me as well and I believed it at first, like everyone said .... its tough out there. I got really excited too. Then when he asked for the credit card, I said I don't have it with me right now he indicated that he would hold for as long as it takes me to get it. Obviously, it was a red flag and I didn't call back. OMG.. thank god I didn't do it.. :) What a Scam...
