Someone named Cassie said she wanted to "update my file."
That's the total message she left - that and this toll-free number.
I have no idea who this is, what she wants or why she called.
I also have no intention of returning the call!

My husband and I got married last June, and then he lost his job. He pays out almost a grand in child support each month, and my salary does not help the both of us. I applied for the loan modification program for my house and got turned down. My husband finally got a job, but the pay was awful and was not worth the time he had to spend on the road never seeing his family. He has since applied for a union job and is currently training. I've tried to help him and keep his child support taken care of, although he is still drastically behind. One mom gets $155 a week, while the other gets $70. The one who gets $70 gets him in the medical bill department in what she can't get in child support. Due to these circumstances, some of my medical bills I have have become past due. Sometimes, the hospital sends me copies of bills I owe from almost a year ago telling me I'm being referred to a collection agency when it is the first bill from them I've even received. I get letters from places telling me to pay or else. I'm trying to get caught up on these bills, but between $600+ a month in college loans, a mortgage that won't be disappearing anytime soon $761, and other bills, I feel like I'm drowning. To have these people constantly call with "important news" or information from my "personnel file" or even tell me they are not a "sales" department is annoying and belligerent. I am a professional, but I feel like tricking me into calling them drastically insults my intelligence.

When I told them to stop calling me I would deal with the creditor directly, she got angry and told me they would continue to call me. When I told her by law they must stop calling me, she told me they have the RIGHT to continue to call me. I hung up.

I returned the call and found it to be a medical bill I thought I had paid already. I told them to stop calling me that I would deal with the creditor myself. I tried to be polite, but the woman got forceful and angry when I told her to stop calling. They told me they could not do that. When I told them by law if I request them to stop calling me they must stop. The woman told me they would continue to call me when ever they pleased and there was nothing I could do about it. At this point I hung up and used call block on their phone numbers. The numbers I blocked were: 800-727-3032 and 615-462-0183

I called the number, and the woman I talked to was very kind and clear. She was looking for someone else--possibly someone who used to own this number (my cell phone number). I recommend calling the number to find out what is going on. In my case, I wasn't the person she wanted to talk to, so calling her helped her and helped me. She promised to remove my number from the call list.

Since they are not the original creditor, you can request for them to stop calling you and let them know you will deal with the orginal creditor, by law they have to stop and cannot place any adverse item on you credit report, because you requested them not to call you and you will deal with the orginal creditor.  They buy these debt for pennies on the dollar and then collect the whole amount, that's how they profit, they are unable to remove it from you credit report.  if you contact the original credit, I'm sure they will be willing to settle the debt for less and they will be able to remove it from you credit report, just make sure you ask them to do that and get it in writing before doing so.

LOS ANGELES - In a move to advance the way collections are conducted for major American credit grantors, STC Solutions, Inc. (www.STCSolutions.com) announced today that it has successfully launched its collections operations in Manila, Philippines. STC Solutions is a full service collections company, handling pre- and post-charged off contingency collections as well as purchasing delinquent receivables. STC's collectors reside in Manila, while payment processing and information technology applications are located in Los Angeles.

STC Solutions is building large-scale greenfield collection operations, rather than growing through acquisition. "Most large collections companies have been formed by 'roll-ups' of many small agencies," noted Lance Rosenzweig, CEO of STC Solutions. "STC is instead building a world-class collection operation from the ground-up in Manila, combining the best of American management, with the highest caliber collectors and the most advanced technologies and infrastructure. The result for our clients will be a higher netback, in the context of a more positive customer experience."

On another site the person said it is this company?? Dont know?

STC Solutions has exclusively hired college educated collectors. Unlike Oncollectors from other "off-shore" locations, STC Solutions' collectors speak American English with no discernable accent, and with the same culture as American credit grantors and debtors. Our collectors adhere to the highest standards of FDCPA and state law compliance, and undergo extensive training in STC Solutions' training facilities. The collectors are able to call during all permitted calling hours, with maximum prime-time calling.

Send them a letter.  Once you have notified them in WRITING not to call you at work or on your cell phone anymore, they have to - by law - comply.  NO bill collector can call you BEFORE 8 am, or after 9pm.  Otherwise you can sue for harrasment.  If they use foul, insulting, or obsene language - you can sue them.  Record ALL calls.
Send the letter (all corespondence) by certified mail so you can prove you sent it and that they got it.

*I think people who can't get a job anywhere else become bill collectors!

I really think you should be counting your blessings that you are NOT in a position of having to pay an unaffordable, outsized priced medical bill due to an life-threatening emergency for you or your spouse, or even worse, your child.  Do you know how terrible it is not to be able to receive medical care for a long-term issue simply because you ARE a responsible enough person what also has rent, food, utilities, and other expenses to pay every single month and KNOW it's out of your price range and to have NO help available whatsoever?  No?  Then once again may I suggest to you to count your blessings and be grateful that you and your family aren't having those issues and have some compassion for those what are struggling.

They are a debt collection company. My call was in reference to a past due hospital bill. It looks like if it so important Ms Jane White could call herself. Like their time is more important than ours!

I got the same message, this is my work phone, I don't appreciate being harassed by a voice on the telephone saying they have an important message for me.  I put my phone on the "Do Not Call Registry" and I think I'm getting more calls now.
