1) Non-profits do not fall under the National Do Not Call Registry. They're not selling anything; they're asking for money for organizations & causes you have already supported in the past. Or they are doing donor acquisition work which means they suspect you have interest in supporting their charity work.
2) No message is left on answering machines because they're on a computerized dialer system just like any 800 # corporation has. It's nothing new, & it saves time of a single person punching in numbers to dial a long list of numbers just to get answering machines.
3) Because the computer dialed system is supposed to connect you to a live person AFTER you say "HELLO," sometimes it messes up so you may have to say hello a couple times. Don't get pissed off- its not like they ran over your baby with a Mack truck so don't let it ruin your day. It could be worse: they could be calling from India with thick accents.
4) If you want calls to stop, connect yourself to a representative & ask to be placed on their do not call list. It's not a new concept. It's not hard to grasp. Do it. They don't want to talk to you & waste their time if you don't want to talk to them either. Connect the dots.

The DNC only works when you take a minute to report unwanted calls.  Most people come to complaint boards only and never bother to follow through with the agencies that can stop it. Problem is a few complaints are not enough - EVERYONE MUST FILE THEM!

SCAMS (CROOKS) do not abide by the laws!

Here is proof the DNC works when you take the time to file complaints
YES THE DNC LIST DOES WORK  - because instead of just posting on complaint boards ? they were  actually reported to the DNC

Telemarketer Shut Down For Violating "Do Not Call" Rule
Court imposes five-year ban on telemarketing to consumers

Do Not Call

A financial services telemarketer accused of violating several requirements of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Do Not Call Rule -- from calling hundreds of thousands of consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry to failing to transmit accurate caller ID information -- has settled the government's charges and is banned from telemarketing to consumers for five years.
In November 2007, as part of a multi-case crackdown on Do Not Call violators, the government charged Global Mortgage Funding, Inc. and its owner, Damian Robert Kutzner, with unlawfully calling consumers on the Do Not Call Registry in an attempt to sell financial products, including mortgages and related financing services.
The complaint also contained charges of violating the FTC's Do Not Call Rule by failing to transmit accurate caller ID information, failing to pay fees required to access the Registry, and abandoning calls by not connecting consumers to a representative within two seconds after they answered the phone.
Following a lengthy investigation by the FTC, the lawsuit was filed and litigated by the Department of Justice on the Commission's behalf.
The agreed-upon court order bans Kutzner and anyone working with him from participating in telemarketing to consumers, and from helping others involved in telemarketing to consumers, for five years.
It also permanently bans Kutzner from violating the Telemarketing Sales Rule, as well as its Do Not Call provisions, which include calling consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry, failing to provide accurate caller ID information, calling consumers who have said they do not want to be called, and abandoning calls.
The order imposes a $6 million civil penalty against Kutzner and Global Mortgage and imposes reporting and record-keeping provisions to help monitor Kutzner's compliance. Finally, the order ensures that Global Mortgage will not resume its operation or benefit from its past conduct.
Both Global Mortgage and Kutzner had a previous run-in with the FTC, which sued them in 2002 for allegedly sending "spoofed" e-mails that offered mortgages and purported to be from legitimate banks.
Global and Kutzner signed a consent decree in 2003 in which they agreed to pay over $60,000 to resolve that litigation and accepted a court order prohibiting them from future "spoofing" and other misrepresentations.

Telemarketer
I filed a complaint against them after they called me 3 times in the past 24 hours and said nothing.  I called and told them not to call me.

File complaints against these people with the FCC, just google FCC complaints, and then file a complaint with www.donotcall.gov

They also call from 800-713-9890

If you call this number back you get a recorded msg. indicating it's MDS Communications, etc. HOWEVER if you chase this down the number comes to a website -www.silversnowball4u.com which is a scam to buy silver coins. It appears this company is in Montana. I'll bet they have worked this out to appear to be a non-profit charity company, then when you put leave your number on the answering machine you get a pitch for the program. Might even be a pyramid scheme. Interesting website.

I get calls from this number daily. I don't know who it is or what they want. There is never a message, just silence. The phone is for MY convenience, and I will never answer a call like this. I want to know who is calling and why before I will even think of picking up. I am so tired of the rudeness of these type of calls!

Finally answered them today after getting several calls with no message over the last few weeks. Said they were a "paid caller" on behalf of a right-to-life group and asked me if I was pro-life or pro-abortion. I asked hem to remove me from their call list. We shall see

They are against abortion and are asking people (I answered the phone and this is waht she told me) and they are asking people to donate to help raise $$ against abortion. I wouldn't give anything out over the phone and said I would LOVE to help if you mail me something. She said they would mail it. We will see. I am against abortion but I still can't support them not knowing who they really are or could be, just in case. She already had my name, #, and my address. I asked her how they got my info and she just replied with you must have signed something saying you are against abortion for us to have your info.. I don't know, maybe. Well here is the funny part.... When she first asked to speak to me, I said this is she speaking she went to ask me what I thought of abortion, pro life, pro choice or in between. So becareful, she was nice and it could be legit but I won't give out any info or mail anything to anyone without knowing the real info, so she said they would mail something.

She asked for $100 or $200 gift donation and I said oh know I couldn't do that especially this time of year, hello? And she asked maybe could I do $30 I said yeah.  They just are marketers apparently.

Have a great day!
