Yes, I owe some money.  Who doesn't, in today's economic mess?  I have always been upfront that I am a disabled widow and my only income is from social security -- which legally they cannot garnish or touch.  The most significant challenge has been attempting to get a mailing address to send that cease and decist letter.  When I ask for that address they become hostile and hang up.  Tomorrow I  will contact my state's attorney general's to begin the process.  Their constant calls have caused my already precarious health to falter.  This is harrassment.  9 calls in 5 days, from 8 am until after 10 pm is offensive.

Juvenile pranks do not make a defense strategy, and debt collectors are not making sales, therefore are exempt from scrubbing the federal DNC registry.

Several stories in this thread detail illegal collection rep behavior, such as false threats of litigation, foul language, misrepresentation of debt claims, annoying call patterns, and various forms of abuse. To defeat such hostile thugs, you don't stop at filing complaints with the FTC and attorneys general. You put them on notice and sue them into submission.

If FCS thinks you owe something, be sure to respond on real paper to its federally required dunning letter with a dispute and validation request, adding that you either restrict or revoke consent to call again. Given this agency's documented need to break laws to get at your assets, you should dispute even if you agree slightly with its claim.

If the account is not legally collectable, or it's simply not you they want, you're free to send a full cease-comm, cutting off all contact. Send all notices via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft them.

Here's an idea: Each time they call, pick up the phone and blow a loud whistle into the receiver.  This way you don't have to speak to them or listen to them at all.  But if you want the satisfaction of going after them, set your phone to record the call & tell them you know who they are and that you're recording the call "for legal purposes" and they are instructed not to call you again, cite that you are on the state "Do Not Call" list and it is now on record that they have been warned.

To "William A. Dunkum"  a/k/a "William" . . . anon, anon . . .:
You just blew your cover, A** H***!
You said: "WE are used by Verizon as well" . . .  So it IS Windstream (& Verizon) that is selling off the data bases for these preditors!  That would explain why they can get around my call block.
You don't even care that we know that you and your botton-feeder company are monitoring this site!
Well here's news:  We know who YOU are and I am posting your info below for all to see, so they can turn the tables on you.  I hope everyone you've harassed does as I intend to do and follows up by filing a complaint with the FCC and perhaps even a class action lawsuit.  There must be an ambulance chaser out there somewhere who'd like to make a name for himself by taking up this cause.
But William & Mary Dunkum, go crawl back under the rock you came from because we're coming for you!
Here's who they are, everyone:

I never answer calls from "Toll Free Service" per caller ID, but ever since I sold my home based business and got a new "unlisted" phone, I've been inundated with such calls.  I let it go to voice mail and if they don't leave a message (which is usually the case) I just go online (here) and check out the number.  I then call the Individual Call Block service that comes with my phone carrier (Windstream) and add the last number called (in this case: 800 732 4504 as above) to the list of blocked calls.  This has worked great up until now.  The call is blocked before it ever rings through to me . . . BUT today they managed to ring thru even after having them blocked (which I verified on my call block list).  Who the heck are they that they can skirt around such services??  I have no debt either, but I did just get a new Visa card.  Up until now, I've never used credit cards . . . only debit cards.  Could this be the link?  Anyone else just get a new Visa card?  Sounds like an inside informant at the bank selling off names and info from the bank's data base.

Your rude response is typicaly defensive and OFFENSIVE.  It takes a certain callous kind of individual to work in your line of business.  Hopefully you will find yourself on the receiving end of this kind of rude treament some day.  Get a life & grow a heart!

Debt Collector
This number called 2 days in row.  I believe it is a recording because it was impossible to interrupt.
All I got out of it was that it was a very important call for (unintelligible name), not ours,of course.
My husband called back, told Miss Rude it was not anyone here she was looking for.  She hung up on him!  He called back immediately.  This time she told him she would remove our number from their list.  We'll see......tomorrow is another day.

I keep getting calls from this number 800-732-4504, for a person who is not at this number.  I have previously received these calls for the same person. I told them that this person is not at this number.  They stop calling and then they start back up again.  The last time they called some spanish speaking woman cussed me.. every which way but lose and which to say I cussed her back.. she would never give me her name.. I wrote the Attorney General's office gave them the information,, I received a call back from the Attorney General's office and said that if I ever had a problem or an issue with this number or company again. to let them know and they would take care of it ..   Well the calls started about 2 weeks ago . leaving messages for the same person they called for a year ago.   I called the number back. a spanish speaking lady would not give me her name, but asked me to give information for the person they were calling about.. and to give her my phone number. If she didn't have my phone number how is it that she knew the name (of the person who doesn't live here). Needless to say we got into it again.   My husband then calls and he speaks to a Whitney who said she would take our phone number out of their system..  Which is fine.. But I am sending another letter to the attorney general's office to let them know about the harassing calls we get from this company with a person that does not live here or is not at this number..
I would advise people to contact their local Attorney General's office to see if you can put a stop to these people.

Debt Collector
This is from First Collection Service, or FCS as others have reported. I am *not* the person they are looking for, but they still call relentlessly (up to 10 times per day) even after I have told them multiple times that I am not the party whom they are trying to contact. I have now had to send them a registered letter asking them to stop calling me.

Know your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA (http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm). If you ask a credit agency to stop calling you, they are required under law to honor that. If they continue to harass you, contact a consumer attorney. Many will take cases without a retainer fee in exchange for a percentage of damages collected.

I've been getting calls twice a day with a message for someone I do not know and who does not live at my number.  I finally tried calling this number they provided and explained to the operator who answered that I did not know this person and that he did not live here and she acted annoyed but said she would take my number off the "account".  I've gotten two calls since then, already.

I've been getting calls from this number and calls from similar people. The one thing that I've noticed is that none of them are willing to leave a message. To me this most likely points to some kind of automated dial-er. Just my observation.

I have had bills in the past that have went to collections and not by my own doing so don't judge people for one! 2. NO bill collector will ask you for the last 4 of your social and for you to tell them your address!! If they are collectors they have this information already an other then your name they need no other info! This page is to help people with problems and to try and inform people of scams!!! You need to go look on other pages and make your rude, judgmental, and stupid remarks to other people!

I just got a call from this number and the guy asked for me by a name that i NEVER use.. i asked what the call was regarding and he said he couldn't give me that information until i told him my address and last 4 of my social!! He said his name was Kenden Johnson. He said that they sent me a letter a month ago addressed from Arkansas... I do not recall anything sent to me from Arkansas and he was rude at that and said he can NOT give me any information until i verified who i was... I said well what name do you have and he again said the name i NEVER use and i then asked  if there was another name for me on file and he said NO... I then asked him what the name of the company he worked for was and he said LC Services... Then hung up.. I have no clue what the hell is going on, but you will never get me to tell you my last 4 of my social,, I have never needed to for any reason and am not about to start! If you get a call from 800.732.4504 don't give them any information!!
