I'm not to sure about that. I have been an AT&T customer since it was Cingular with the same contact number. I have never changed my number and it's been 8 years. I doubt anyone had a reason to use my number as a contact number. I have never used Verizon wireless and I received the same call. I believe it may be a Scam.

Yep it a recorded message from Verizon Wireless basically telling you if you have any questions or problems call the 800 number.

It's a courtesy call from Verizon wireless, NOT a scam as some might believe. I received a call from this number today and it's been about a week after I used my 'new in 2' phone trade in (which requires a new 2-year service contract).
They do not call your cell for this, they call the contact number provided to them. If a person's contact number changes and Verizon is not notified, then the call ends up being a 'wrong number' call. This is probably what really happened to people here.
It's good to keep an eye out for scams, but not every call you get from a strange number is one. It could simply be a wrong number...

This # called my home phone yesterday and said it was Verizon and thanked me for validating or upgrading my service. I did neither one. I called a different # for Verizon Communications and they looked up this # and another # that had called my cell phone yesterday morning and both are scam #s. The
other # was 519-397-0850 (out of Canada) (credit card scam).

this number just called and left a message saying I opened a Verizon Wireless account and thanked me for my business. I did not such thing. So I called Verizon directly to let them know. This is a scam!! Beware!!!
