Got the Marriott postcad it looked like a scam so I checked it out here.  Thank you to those brave enough to call and get to the bottom of this.  I think I'll let the post office know.

OK.  After not much research, I called and cancelled our reservation for the presentation. Y'all were correct... it's a scam.  Google "travel to go scam" and you'll find plenty.  Even the "free" vacation is not free, it's "complimentary," meaning you have to pay more than the tickets are worth in fees.  Save your time, recycle the postcard.

We called.  It's a company called "Travel To Go." They are a membership travel agency, and they use the postcard to reach potential members.  We are now scheduled to attend a 90-minute presentation about Travel To Go, after which (supposedly) we will receive vouchers for our free travel.  Sure, it may be a scam, and we will be careful about what info we give them.  I'll try to remember to post here again after we've gone through the presentation.  Meanwhile, this is what I've found about TravelToGo: http://www.traveltogo.com/introduction_overview.asp

To help stop mail fraud like this, report your scam here:

https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx

The number of reports consumer targets (that's us) file means the investigation and prosecution of these scammers is more likely.  These criminals need to be shut down.

Has anybody bothered to call? I just got the "Marriott" version postcard. I'm surprised they paid first-class postage.

I received the same postcard with the Marriott, Fairfield Inn (which is owned by Marriott) and Holiday Inn logos on it. Samne phone number, same "call within 48 hrs". This has to be some kind of a scam.

Got the same postcard, same phone number, only with the Marriott logo on it.  The clue was that, despite the large Marriott logo, the fine print says "this promotion is not sponsored by or affiliated with Marriott." That says "scam" to me.

On 3/3/2010, received a post card offering 3 day/2 night stay at on of Hilton's many locations for 2 adults including 2 round-trip airline tickets to fly anywhere in the contiguous U.S.  The only way to find out how to get the Hilton getaway was to call 1-800-741-5937 within 48 hours of receipt of the post card.

B.T. Barnum said it best "there's a sucker born every minute"  Don't be a sucker--never call back on scams like this.
