The Better Business Bureau ( BBB ) has absolutely no power or authority over anyone. It is a private
business that takes reports and files them.
If you want something done , GET ONLINE AND LOOK UP-- >>>> FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT .

The part where it says send a letter telling the collection agency to CEASE AND DESIST CALLING YOU.
Send the letter to the collection agency by U.S. Mail, Certified with  Return Receipt
That way you have proof they signed for the letter.

DO NOT admit you know anyone they call looking for. Even if you do. They will harass you day and night
trying to get a message to the person their looking for that you know. They wil haras you or the pesons phone number and information. In a lot of case people don't know the phne number or inormation on  the person in question. So once you admit you know the person their looking for your scewd.

Don't admit to anything. Deny you know who their calling for even if you do know them.
Never trust a freaking voice over the phone that calls out of the blue.

the minute you call them mad that they called your friend looking for you they will have won. they will do it again over and over since they know doing that will make you mad enough to call them back. just ignore them. never, i mean never call them back. they will just get bolder and bolder in trying to reach you. i read on another site where they told the person who called complaining that " it worked did'nt it , you called us back"
so never call a collection agency back. never talk to one over the phone.

Dear Sara,

I am sorry to tell that Firstsource is a scammer, criminal organization. By definition when someone or some corporation breaks the law that makes them criminals. You can come back at me all you want on here but it is a fact ! I myself do not owe anyone anything except my monthly utilities which are paid on time. Firstsource repeatedly calls my house looking for a angela stinson. I am a male, I am single. I do not know an angela stinson. I started out telling firstsource they had a wrong number - no one lived at my address or number with that name. They continued to call. I then sent 1, 2, 3, and 4 cease and desist letters as prescribed by the federal fair debt collection practices act, telling firstsurce to cease and desist calling me.
I included my-the phone number they were calling , I included the numbers I was receiving their calls from, the name of the person they were asking for on each call. The calls still continued until I obtained an attorney and sued them. According to the FDCPA they were suppose to stop calling when I sent the first letter. The moment they continued to call me despite my decease and desist letter they were breaking the law. The moment they lost in federal court when I sued them; MADE THEM CRIMINALS !
I sent each and every letter by U.S. Post Office Mail,Certified with  Return Receipt Requested. I have the returned green return receipt post card from each of my letters to them.
I suggest wach and every person being harassed by these criminal scammers to send a cease and desist letter to them by u.s. post office certified mail with return receipt. Keep a log of each and every
call you receive from them. Do not erase the calls from your caller i.d. Keep the record of their calls on your caller i.d. Then sue them. Attorneys take these cases on a contingency basis due to the fact their legal fee's are reimbursed by the one you sued.

If you call back, as suggested by the shill for this telmarketing fraud, your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls from this telemarketing fraud, as well as sold to other boiler rooms operating similar frauds.

Just called, they were very respectful. I requested they remove my number, they did with no questions. Updated the phone number to my ex wife's. Finished...

It's amazing how someone not in debt with this company had zero problems, but people in debt are claiming that they are rude and pushy. Family members getting called and they leave a message, give them the reference number, just say you dont know thier number, you don't know where they are, and you would like your number removed because you no longer correspond with that person, or you give them the person they are looking fors number. If you are on the phone and they say they are looking for someone else, just kindly request they remove your number from the record. If they continue to call, answer request a second Time and write in a formal request RRR, also take a conformation that the number has been removed and the name and employee ID of the person who "removed your number" from the account.

If they call you and you owe money... Just pay.. You already know you owe them...

Really, don't call them back? I get it this company sucks, but they are collecting real debt, all these people complaining are in real debt.

I recieved a message on friday and today about my ex-wife's unpaid debt, I don't know if it is BOA or Capital One, because those were the only accounts she took with her in the divorce. She wouldn't remove my name from her credit card so I had to call capital one to have my name removed.

I'm not suprised she defaulted. I get the 18-19 year old kids that are messing up their credit but I don't understand real adults messing up their credit. I get it there are some people with extenuating circumstances; however, if you are in collections that means you credit card already sold your account to a collections agency. Hell yea they are forceful, they want the money owed. I ignored the creditors at 19 but then when you finally call, you realize there are good plans, and they work with you.

Earlier I saw someone say they started illegally drawing money out of their account. I mean really, I don't give checks out because then people have your routing and acct number. Yeah you can stop them from messing with your account and eventually get your money back, but why do that when you can just send a money order RRR. Take photographs of everything. Because as long as you have that photography of everything filled out, the RRR and the stub for the money order. You are golden, always remember if it isn't written on paper it doesn't exist.

Yeah these people are corporate scum, but if you aren't paying your bills what are you?

In reference to the messages, both messages were very well articulated, very respectful and followed the same template. They requested I call and give them my ex wife's number, but if they have mine, they have hers. (it's only one digit off at the end, mine is a 4 hers is a 5)

Don't delay, my brother is 31 (2 years older than me) and I'm fixing his credit with creditors right now. Don't be stupid and blow this off, all you are doing is hurting your personal futures by not paying.

Yeah this guy is kind of correct in an "unintellectual way", if you can't afford a car get a cheaper one. If you can't afford your house, get a smaller one, you can't make ends meet, work part time at McDonald's, you are afraid you may not be able to pay your bills, get credit protection. They won't give you credit protection, probably shouldn't have a credit card.

This is about responsibility, I screwed up my credit at 18 for like 2 years because I was a young adult... Aka a kid with 5k credit... 9 years later I have over 20k in credit cards, no default payments.

I get it, I have been there and it sucks paying creditors tons of money, but the guy was right, don't get into that position in the first place. If you aren't paying your bills and people want their money.. It's simple, pay them.

People don't realize these variable interest rates they go up every time someone defaults. Yeah so when capital one doesn't make thier money back be someone plea bargains or doesn't pay their bill, I pay more interest on my balances. Think if no one defaulted on anything, interest rates would be low on everything.

Life events, I thought that was what credit was for. Just In case. It doesn't mean get credit cards max them out then when you are about to have a baby to stop paying your cards and then go to a hospital to have your baby and not pay the hospital either.

I get there are exceptions and not everyone is a bad person, but if you aren't paying your bills, you are a criminal.

It's First Source Advantage, guy called from 716-564-4905 saying they had an important confidential matter to discuss with me. Which they probably do. said to call them at 1-800-741-8860

I know I owe about $1k in credit cards, which I know is a drop in the bucket for most people. I pay when I can and literally have about $6 in the bank. I had started a new job Monday so I'll be paying them back soon.

It does sicken me that people get all uppity about how they "I don't owe them money! who are these people? Why are they harassing me?"  Come on, really? You have noooo clue? When the average American owes $17,266 and about +45% of all Americans have some sort of debt. I would have to believe simple logic that you IN FACT owe someone, something, somewhere.

I'm currently a college student living away from home. I realize I owe a credit card company money and am working with them to get it paid off. Today I get a call from my dad who said he just received a call FOR ME from someone named Ashley at First Source Advantage just as he was heading into work. He took down the info for me and then called to relay the message. I wasn't sure what it was about but I tried to call them back anyways. Luckily the reception in my room isn't the greatest for making calls and my call got dropped. After thinking about it for a minute, I decided to google the number he gave me. Now I'm glad I did!! Man alive am I NOT calling them back after seeing this!

I've been getting calls from them the past two weeks and they don't even have my name fully right.
Only my last name, and, my middle name does start with a C, and they knew I was a female, they called my Christine ______. My middle name is not at all Christine. They did have my lastname correct though. I guess they got it out of the phonebook as I do have it as C plus my lastname being listed...but,for all they know I'm a man named Carl.or Cecil,or a woman named Cecilia!  So, if it were legit then they'd surely have my name completely correct! That alone tells me they're a scam. But what's their purpose I wonder.
Also, they mumble they're words together where I have to listen to it over a couple times just to half way make out one or two words!

All I got was the words society, and collection company.

Hi:

I've gotten several calls from this # in the last few days and they don't even have my name right...it's only partially correct; they went off my middle intial which they assumed was a first name, which they just made up a name from that letter..which is also how it shows up in the phone book...my middle initial and my lastname. so that alone tells me they're a scam. Looking to get other's personal info/credit card/bank info maybe?

They also somehow knew I was female.

I couldn't understand what the woman named Brittany even said the name of the company was except I did hear the word 'society' in there somewhere, and that they were trying to collect a debt.
