Debt Collector
Have recieved calls from this company or whatever for @ least 6+ mos and told them I am not the person they are asking for . Each time I tell them I am documenting the conversation and I will comtact my attorney. They also say we will take your name from the list and then it happens again.  I received a call just now from a foreign speaking woman and told her the same thing and she wanted to argue until I told her I am documenting this call and will notify the attorney general of my state and again she said they will take the number off the list. I have notified the attorney general of my state also.

Debt Collector
Just started new phone service with Comcast in January.  I have received 20 calls from MRS Associates via a local number:  Luthersville GA  (678) 929-4407.  The first time or two I answered and informed them the person didn't exist.  Obviously that didn't work, so I added their number to the call screen function for my Comcast voice - no more calls.

The company behind this number (800-749-6434) is M.R.S. Associates...They are a "debt buyer"...They make money buying old, charged off debt for next to nothing (sometimes LESS thatn pennies on the dollar) and then try to collect the entire debt fom the 'debtor'. Sometimes the only contact information the have on a 'debtor' is a cell phone number. In most cases a very OLD cell phone number...that no longer belongs to the debtor they are looking for. I get calls on my cell from this idiot Danny Mars (or Norris) looking for a Carlos sombody...My name is Lonnie...HELLO!?!...I tell them this...Doesn't matter to these people...They harass me just the same. Here is what Bud Hibbs (Consumer advocate: budhibbs.com) has to say about them...There is also email address for the upper brass at MRS ASsociates...USe them as you see fit!

Bud Says...

ONE OF AMERICA'S WORST COLLECTION AGENCIES!

Mike n' Rick n' Saul Associates, Inc   Brain dead debt collectors with a street mentality. Very UNPROFESSIONAL in their business and collections technique.

These are VERY nasty people who go to no end with their lies and intimidation, (not to mention their b.s...

These collectors give ALL debt collectors a bad reputation. There is no lie they will not tell, everyone they talk to is about to:
Be arrested
Have their wages garnished
Have a judgment levied against them
All of the above.
The players:
Saul A. Freedman, Pres & CEO saul1@mrsassociates.com
Jeff Freedman, VP & Partner jeff@mrsassociates.com
Daniel J. McCusker, Attorney danm@mrsassociates.com
Michael A. Peters, EVP-CMO mikep@mrsassociates.com
Kelli Coia, Dir of Training/Development
Jill Sittineri, Incentives Mgr.

MRS is infested with KING SIZED dumpster trash that belongs in a jail cell. NOTHING they say or do is to be believed or trusted. My guess is they are all orphans because at some point, they all sold their mothers for cash! Stay FAR away from these misfits of society, they are as BAD as debt collectors can be!!

Marshall Matthews has been the most common, but often the name is different, but the voice is very much the same. Says I need to request document number 14493408... Refuses to say in the message what it is regarding. I tried to call back once but just got a voicemail. MRS Associates and their Specialists is all the answering service said.

I keep getting phone calls at work from these people.  They call me at home on numerous occasions.  I do owe Capitol One, and I am not trying to deny it.  I had cancer, I am the sole provider in my family, I lost all of savings in a local financial institution that had been in business for 40 years, then tried to deal with a "Christian" agency who said they would deal with my debt, when all I did was get in a deeper mess.  I have told them over and over again not to call me at work.  I like my privacy and don't like everybody knowing my business.  They just don't stop.  I plan to deal with this situation, just working on one at a time.

I've been receiving calls several times a week from this Danny Mars who doesn't identify his co or who he's leaving the message for.  He says he has an important decision to make about me and would like my input. He asks that I return his call @ 1-800-749-6434. I have never had credit problems and since he doesn't seem to know who he is calling I see no reason to return his call and I assume it is some kind of scam.  My caller ID says out of area and the # is 000-000-0000.

Danny Morris continues to call my place of business.  He said that I needed to call him but didn't say in regards to what.  Although I own a place of business and have business debt, everything is currently being paid on time and in appropriate amounts.  I have no outstanding debt that has been sent to a collection agency or anything of the sort.

Some Steve Harris called me at work this morning left a (what sounded like a robo-prerecorded) voice message on my voice mail that my documents were brought to his attention for review and that it is unfortunate that this has reach that point and that he would be more than happy to help me and to call some 800#.  No company name, nothing about what documents he was referring to.  I really think it's a scam.

Got a call from these guys today - caller id was 212-993-5500, which can be found to be an invalid number on the web. Voice mail they left, however, identifies as "Steven Harris" with the 800-74-6464 callback number. Their message says "Your paperwork arrived on my desk this morning and I have to make a decision right away..." - which is strange since they've been leaving me this message every couple weeks for the past couple months! FYI, this is a medical debt they bought, in my case, in case that helps anyone else understand why they might be getting calls when they are current with all their regular bills...

They are calling from out of the mid east somewhere. The line was full of static. I have sent them a cease and decist letter they refuse to get it. Then again they do not speak English. I cannot produce what I do not have. Been out of work for two years. At one point they told me to find someone to pay them. I said what about 25 a month they told me it was not good enough. Reported them to the ftc and bbb for unlawful collections from a foreign country. They wanted my checking acct no or card number. I told them unless they are in the usa do not call me. At this point it is a charge off nothing I can do.

Person named Manny Castello called me (Caller ID 1-717-447-3347) wanting to know why I did not want to buy Rx drugs. I told him to put me on the do not call list and then hung up on him when he kept demanding an answer to the reason I did not want wamt. The following day, I received a call from him (Caller ID showed 1-717-447-3347) claiming to be from the FDA and that I should call 1-800-749-1280 (clearly not the an FDA number according to the FDA). He told me that unless I sent $3,000 in cash via Western Union to the Dominican Republic, or else I would immediately arrested and that he would call me every 20 minutes on my cell phone to monitor the status of my movement. I turned off my cell phone. Then, he called my home and play some obviously recorded tape derived from a police recorder. This was clearly extortion, a felony that I hope will lead to his arrest.

Hi

Sorry everyone.  I hate to report that I got a snail mail from these people.  I am 60 and never even bounced a check until these days.  I have been unemployed for 2 years and not do not get any unemployment or public assistance.  I called the number.  The man answering the phone correctly stated that I had not paid Capital One in over a year and that I owed $2,198.46.  I asked where he was calling from.  He told me Mumbia, India.  He asked what I was ABLE to do to settle the account.  I gave him a honest answer, which was $650.00.  He sent me a settlement letter by Email which I confirmed with Capital One.  I sent a check made out to Capital One to the N. J. address.  About two weeks later, I got a confirmation letter from Capital One that they had accepted the payment as full settlement.  In Jan, I also got a 1099-C (discharge of debt) from Capital One to be filled with my tax return.  I have not heard from either since.  My credit report shows a write-off and account closed.  Yes it did effect my credit score, AS IT SHOULD HAVE.

if you don't have a debt, had an old debt, or still have one-everyone-take a picture of the caller id, send them a debt validation letter, tape any message/call if allowed, keep mrs contacts/letters,etc.  Then file a lawsuit against them, if you have no lawyer-do it yourself-jurisdictionary.com has steps of lawsuit, etc; other good websites: (don't know if this is still good-august 2009)--"caveatemptorblog.com/stop-debt-collector-calls-with-the-telezapper/" (telezapper detects when a call comes from an autodialer and sends back a signal that the phone has been disconnected)--or-route them to the ftc, attorney generals, etc.   Websites continued:legal forum-craigslist; everthing2.com (motion2dismiss,etc); "creditinfocenter.com" (good article-'let's count the violations; "debtcollectorsexposed.com";  "http://budhibbs.com/" (under agencies-watchlist);  "http://www.yourlegallegup.com/resources.htm" (can sign up for free newsletter);  "www.fbi.gov"  (alot of debt collectors have been in prison-while collecting debts, they do drugs-what you're paying for; got disbarred,etc-so the same debt collectors calling you-the fbi might be looking for too-or has found--example-hess-kennedy-not debt collector, but were supposedly helping people pay off their debts);  continue-sites-"http"//www.ftc.gov/os/caselist/index.shtm"  (if you decide to sue, good reference);  "http://www.consumerlawyer.typepad.com/blog/2008/02/the-do-not-call.html"  (illinois consumer law blog);  "alabamaconsumerlawblog.com" (good newsletter too-john watts);  "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWNIEJfAaDY&feature=channel"  (trace an ip address-or url-to a location);  a good download-"cre27.pdf" (fair debt collection practices act-fdcpa);  books-"stick it to sue happy debt collectors: learn how to fight lawsuits and win"-by allen harkleroad (12-31-2009);  "legal research", "represent yourself in court"-both at nolo.com;  "the debtors survival guide:an easy step-by-step guide in how to catch collection agencies breaking the law and then suing for damages" (kindle e-book); and just type in collection agency name (or whoever), then scam in google. No idea who this company is, but they call the house I am staying at while my uncle is on vacation 20 times a day, and it's always a different person, I've gotten a list of 10 different names but oddly they all have the same LAST NAME! Can you say SCAM! I've gotten the names DANNY, PAULINE, DOMINIC, THOMAS, RACHEL, PAUL, SIMON, RANDY, TARA & ANTONIO but they all have the last name of WHITE. Now how the hell can 10 people with the same last name work for the same damn company?

I even went to the BBB website and typed in the phone number it can't be found. I even called information and spoke to an operator and gave her the number to see if she could track it, it's not even a legal phone number.

So whomever the hell is calling from this number is not only SCAMMING people, they are BREAKING THE LAW!!!!!
