The company is called Medco. They are 100% legit. I recently switched insurance companies and a medication I had been on for 5+ years had been denied. My doctor called my insurance company to gain authorization. Medco called me to tell me my prescription had been authorized.

800-753-2851 is a legitimate number for Express Scripts - Official Site. http://www.express-scripts.com They work with various insurance companies to help with prior authorization to get Rx prices lowered. The highest is a 5, and they can get it down to about a 3. That means a $200. Rx would be reduced down to $45. WORTH taking their call!!! They have usually gotten your phone number from either your Dr. or you Insurance carrier. They do not grab it out of the clear blue sky.

Well, I use Express Scrips also. You need to cruise on over to consumercomplaints dot com and see just how many people say you are wrong. Get educated, Educated... and stop calling legitimate commenters 'dumb a@@' Mr. Juvenile know it all. Thank You. Good Day.

Medco does do telemarking as well. Your insurance provider releases your name and number to them and they try to convince you to move your prescriptions to them. I'm of two minds on them, it's a little scammy to call and beg for business, but on the other hand it will likely cost you less and you may not have read your insurance booklet carefully enough to see it. If they call once, I'm likely to give them a pass on it, if they call multiple times, not so much.

Maybe I'm clueless, but I don't USE Mail Order for my Pharmacy, so why would they call me?
Zantac 2013-08-20 15:06:18 Unknown
Exactly the same for me. It is NOT SPAM. Glad to see that most people have documented it properly here. Others are just clueless.
Zantac 2013-08-20 15:04:14 Unknown
You're going to miss some important calls if you ignore ALL toll-free numbers. Not all of them are SPAM.

This makes perfect sense. I had to get a prescription filled yesterday and had to get a pre-authorization for it, however that was completed and I still received a call today and they didn't leave a voicemail. That concerns me. Why does the prescription drug coverage company behave like a telemarketer, there's no reason for them to.

You are correct. it is a legitimate call, not a bill collector. They are confirming your MAIL ORDER PRESCRIPTION.
IMD 2013-06-11 13:15:39 Unknown
Received a call from this number today. It was indeed a legitimate call from Medco with detailed, pre-recorded information about a prescription I had just filled.
Sara 2013-04-09 03:02:31 Unknown
It's MedCo, calling about your prescriptions.
Educated 2013-03-20 15:02:23 Unknown
Sounds like you need to read your insurance information a little better. I always get prescriptions via Medco. It is cheaper....and I DO get generics. AND they do send drugs through the mail WITH precautions. Some medication I have to sign via UPS..educate yourself before you write on a public webpage. *dumb*a$$*. Thank you. Good day.

This is Medco prescription insurance, which is who my health insurance uses for prescription coverage. It's not a spam/junk call. They were calling to let me know that a prior authorization for one of my prescriptions is about to expire, and that I'd be receiving a letter in the mail soon with information on how to renew the prior authorization if I need/want to continue taking the medication.
Curly 2012-03-03 19:34:36 Unknown
It's Medco pharmacy.

Medco Pharmacy - legitimate caller, calling to inform me about a prescription being processed. They likely call you because your medical also provides pharmacy through Medco.
They will also use this number to inform you that your Dr hasn't approved the prescription and you need to follow up with your Dr.

I receive these calls after I fill prescriptions at my local pharmacy. I ignore them - they're trying to force me to sign up with their mail-order pharmacy instead of buying generics at my local pharmacy. They claim it's cheaper but interestingly enough, it's been more expensive every time I've looked into it. Plus, they send drugs through the mail without taking any precautions.
No thanks!

This particular number is Medco. They were given your number because a prescription is being processed and requires your attention. This is an automated system. Most of the time a prior authorization is needed before your Rx was be completed.

Caller asked if this was "Jane Doe", I said "yes". She said "how are you doing" and hung up. This is the first time anybody has spoken after many, many calls.
