I am getting multiple calls a day for the last week or so. I googled the number and some people think it's a scam, others think it is because they are late on their Discover card payment.

This phone number called is not the number I have listed as a contact number for my discover card. I called Discover and inquired and she called the number and said that it is not a Discover Card number.

When I answered the phone an automated voice said = If you are YOU, please press one. (I guess it would normally insert a name there, mine name isn't listed with this number). I hung up a few times then I finally pressed one. It said it was Discover and that I may be asked for my card number or social security number to verify that it was the correct account, I hung up at that moment.

Scammer....annoying calls every few days.

hmmm....I got a call from them also. I don't answer calls I do not recognize. But I do not have any discover card!

I got call from this # 8007655802 asking me to confirm my name .
I did not do it.

It is not my debt--it is my sons but every morning at 8:30 they call. Discover card. I have told them over and over but it is always a different person calling. I hate Discover card!!!!!!

This is a recorded call....cannot understand what they are saying....I am on the do not call list..DO NOT CALL!

 This came in as an invalid number on caller ID but when I called back  it was Discover Card. Time to cancel Discover!!!

Everyone is saying it's discover card to tell you it's a missed payment... But I DONT HAVE A DISCOVER CARD! So that's can't be all it is...guy had a thick accent I couldn't even understand so I hung up and they called right back! No thanks...

DISCOVER - alert for your benifit!
Usually for a late payment reminder - change of address, maybe a possible security issue, etc.
Call them back and the robot (they keep tweaking the robot so all the above advisories were probably correct at that time)
If you were not late or (?)
Then your DiSCOVER alert mans you need to straighten out a mistake or OPPS!
I just wish they said "this is DISCOVER"

Has to be a scam.  I don't have a Discover card and am getting these calls.

I just got a call from this number tonight -- no company identification, nothing. The message did have my name, so I called the 800 number. Another automated message -- again not saying the company's name -- asked me to punch in the number where I got the call and verify my name. When it asked for my zip code, I hung up and looked up the number. A bunch of sites like this one came up. I called Discover itself using their normal number, and the rep told me that 800-765-5802 is *not* one of their numbers. They also had not tried to call me. I filed a complaint with the FTC. Given that there are so many people getting these calls, I'm going to agree with the rep and call it a phishing attempt. Listen, Discover does not leave anonymous messages. If you have a late bill, they send you a letter. If they were to call for whatever reason -- and the rep agreed with this -- they would identify the company. I have had late payments with them before, and they do not leave anonymous messages at all.

I would like them to discontinue calling.

I get a call several times a day, quite annoying.

This number calls my house every day of the week in the morning. I work nights and it wakes me up everyday. They stay on the line just long enough to make my answering machine beep but they never leave a message.  I have to get out of bed, go downstairs and reset the answering machine so it doesn't keep me awake.  No business information is shown with the number. What is the point of calling everyday but not leaving a message?  It is really nothing more than harassment. I can't take the phone off the hook because then no one else can get through either.  If I answer, an automated voice starts asking for information but still doesn't say what company is calling.

Getting these calls usually right after the other one I reported...I ended my acct with Disc a few months ago.

Called the phone number on my Discover card. They said there was no record of Discover trying to contact me. They said they did not recognize 800-765-5802 as a Discover company number. They did not recognize the "reference code" number left on my answering machine.

Then called the 800-765-5802 number and gave them the "reference code" number. They said they needed my account information and that the "reference code" number was insufficient information.

If this is not a scam, Discover appears to be is inept at the least.

I would love for these calls to go away...they are for my husband who has not lived here for 10 yrs.

I've gotten this same call a number of times last year! I thought I'd remembered that number. This is a scam call. Not professional at all and no one in their right mind should bother calling back on such a call!

Discover may be just another corporate crook, but they are much more careful than this and they must send a written notice if a person is late on a bill. I've never been late on a discover card bill and if I were I would receive snail mail and clear it up when I call the number on my credit card or in the snail mail.

I receive calls from this number, never answer, never, never give anybody anything on the phone - only via mail with copies to the state attorney general.  I have enabled the prosecution of one scammer -NEVER believe they can harm you.  This is all bluff - why would they get exposed to prosecution and prison over one scam when there are so many ignorant patsies to work?  The letters from people saying that this is legimate are almost copies of those from the scammer I shafted.

Tell Discover to leave us alone....quit calling late at night and early in the morning. How many languages does it take to stop you from calling?  NO leave us alone.

Have had two calls this morning.  Did not answer either.  Judging from previous posts, it's Discover but I'm not past due--my payment isn't due until Jan. 4.  As to giving your card number, Discover, if I remember corectly, only asks for the last 4 digits of your card number.

It IS Discover.  Stop intentionally misleading people.

If you want them to stop, you have to tell them so yourself.  Posting an anonymous message on a site that has nothing to do with Discover accomplishes nothing (other than venting).

I just received another call from this number.  They keep calling my telephone several times a day with no message left.  PLEASE STOP CALLING MY TELEPHONE NUMBER.

After reading this and other sites, I decided to call 1-800-DISCOVER, who indeed verified that someone here was behind on payment.

So it doesn't get blocked by DNC list because it is business-related. As much as I'd like to block the number manually, it just makes more sense to pay the bill on time and never have to be called.

I turned the tables on discover card. They called me 4-5 times a day. I started to call them back I called them up fifty times in one hour. I refused to give then info and kept calling back finally a supervisor came on and told me i was harrasing them. They said they are going to call the cops. I told them to quit calling me and i am not paying the bill. If they kept calling me iI would call them a hundred time an hour until they stopped. Guess what it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have not called me in three days. I have done this to 3 credit card companies and they stopped calling me.

This is Discover -  I missed a payment. If you don't have a Disco account and they are calling you, it's because someone registered your number under their account.

Call 1 -800-Discover and speak to a customer service agent.  They will make a note that you are in good standing etc, and discontinue the calls.

The calls are minor...and are usually after a month of no payment. Discover is great! It was my boo-boo that caused this stupid 9 am call.

(I did suggest that they should state who they are before they ask for our personal information.)

915am  Saturday morning these people called about my Discover Card.  IT IS A PHISHING SCAM to get my information and they would happily let me make my past due payment on line right then.  I am not behind and they didn't know my discover number.  Really?   Looking at this page, I am not the only one.
