I just found a charge from this company on my account for 65.32. I have changed my debit card account number but am supposed to call them and try to get them to credit me. It's Saturday so i was going to wait until Monday. Now I wonder if I will get through or not. How could they have gotten our account numbers? Any other info would be greatly apprechiated.

I have not gotten any calls from this company.  Their phone number just showed up on my bank statement 3 times with 3 charges.  I have called the company numerous times, during business hours,  and just get voicemail.  You can push every extension they have and it will always go to voicemail.  I am so ticked that I am going to have to close my account.

Yes, it's a scam, fraud whatever you want to call it.  If you hear their phone message it should be pretty obvious.  They charged my credit card twice in the same day and the previous month they had charged me from another fake company in Florida for the same amount.  Come on guys....their phone message has such bad English no legit company would use that with an 'uhhhh' in every sentence.

Hi, I ended up filing a claim with my bank (Bank of America). They have been awesome. They will investigate and within 90 days will know if it is fraud. In the meantime, they temperarily credited back my account and would have waived any fees if there were any. They are issuing me a new debit card too and closed the old one so that this can't happen again. I just wish I knew how they got our numbers!

The number above just showed up on my new bank card.  It hit me for $23.00 and some odd cents.  A recording seems to say it's a chat line, but it hangs up half way through the recording.

Good!  I'm glad it's still making the news somewhere.

I got a new phone call today (which I didn't answer) and they left no message.  I looked the number up on here and there are 14 pages of people complaining about them.  Apparently they just keep calling some people, several times a day, day after day for weeks on end.  It's some kind of "Survey" and it's coming out of New York and Fort Myers, Florida.  Sound familiar?  I tell you, I'm getting paranoid now about who has what information on me and why they want to call me.  Bah!

By the way the company that called today is "ABT SRBI" 1-239-415-4400.  If you put that number in the search window on here you will find that 14 page thread I was talking about.  There are some people who are saying it's a cold-call survey group that takes your information then sells it.  Who knows?

Getting back to iEARN LLC, I hope there are people still tracking them down and trying to catch them and prosecute them!

The story got another major-market airing last week. CBS P2 Chicago did a heavily-promoted story on its 10 p.m. newscast Oct. 13:

My Attorney General's Office;Consumer Protection Division (Maryland) got an e-mail from iEARN that said they refunded my money (how could they? they didn't have my account number!) and took THEIR word for it and closed my case out.

The Texas Attorney General's Office did call and ask a few questions but ultimately sent a letter saying they don't represent individuals or a few people here and there, they only get involved in a mass of people complaining.

Coppell Police say they met David Baker and he's legit and so is iEARN.

Internet Crime Complaint Center or ICCC or IC3 - Just forwarded my report to them to the Coppell Police Department, the Coppell Police Department told me so.

So much for reporting to "The Law".

Haven't heard from the FCC, the FTA or anyone else.  Not a peep.

What now?   Apparantly nobody cares.

My two cents: Just because those of us who caught these bogus charges in time haven't lost any money, we're still the victims of consumer fraud (identity theft).  Therefore I would suggest pursuing any and all available consumer protection avenues in hopes of preventing recurrences. If your state AG's office is one that touts its consumer protection efforts, be sure to file a complaint with it and share all of the available info on how this scam was perpetrated (such as that in the Dallas TV report -- link to it appears at least a couple of time in recent posts. There is info from court records, etc that law enforcement agencies could use in bringing charges against those responsible for this fraud. Let's get this info in the hands of those who can hold perpetrators of fraud accountable).  It appears the BBB has done all it can on our behalf, and we thank them for that. So I believe our focus at this point should be on law enforcement agencies at all levels that investigate consumer fraud complaints (Danielle, your posts on numerous pages of this thread provide an excellent starting point. I urge all victims of this fraud who have not done so to file complaints with the law enforcement agencies listed. There is strength in numbers.) I agree with what's been said about class-action suits and don't see this as the way to go for those of us who didn't lose any money.

But what do we really have on Thunderbug but hear-say?   Do we even know any basic information on where they are located, their address etc.?   They will simply reply that iEARN LLC is the company that charged us.  Thunderbug may have sold their database to iEARN LLC or may have orginated the charges THROUGH iEARN LLC, but in the end it was iEARN who charged our accounts.  I'm not sure there is anything that can be done about Thunderbug.  At this point we don't even know if anyone is still pursuing iEARN who seems to have completely disappeared at this point.  I'm willing to fight and send e-mails and letters and such, but at this point to whom and about what?  Who is there left to report it to?  What more is there to be said?  Anyone?

I think most people are satisfied to have gotten their money back from their banks or have not gotten a refund and have just written this whole deal off and moved on.  Nobody seems to be interested in pursuing it anymore, and as I said above, even if the interest is there, what can you do with it?

I've been part of a few class action suits and the only time I've ever received real money is when one or more state attorney generals initiated the suit.  In other words, they get your money back.  Think I got $75.00 back from Equifax one time through a state(s) action and a check for 23 cents in another class action suit started by a law firm.  If you can get your state attorney general involved (the more states the better) there are real results and real refunds.  I'm sure the majority of victims in this case DID NOT get their money back for one reason or another: didn't dispute within 60 days etc... that's where the AG's can help.  They have taken on big banks, credit card companies and won huge settlements many times and all the money goes to the victims, not the lawyers.

Class action is usually for damages or loss, from what I've read and thru my own investigating, Iearn has been not disputing chargebacks from our banks as a processor so it seems that everyone is or has gotten their monies back.  Letters to the AG in UTah against thunderbug , because that company has the database of our names.

Class action! if everyone here teamed up and got an attorney, you could sue them in a class action suit. You only need 2 people to be a class.

Well it must just depend where you are.  As I posted, the Baltimore branch of the BBB is still actively investigating I Earn LLC, and they did put out the warning as a press release kind of thing a couple of weeks ago and now have followed it up with reporting it through another news article.  However, the Texas Attorney General's Office simply told me that they can't represent single persons, they only take action in problems involving a large number of people.  The Maryland Attorney General's Office has told me that I Earn LLC TOLD THEM THAT THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY and they are taking their word for it and closing my case!  They are taking the crooks word for it!

In my experience the BBB has done  more than the Attorney Gerneral's Offices.

BBB's have been involved in one scandal after another by giving the fraudsters good or neutral ratings, afterall, they represent businesses, not consumers.  It's like the FDA, loaded with former executives from the food industry, policing their friends.

I think the Attorney General works better.  I've had real results for big and small issues taking the time to file a complaint at my state AG site.

That said, file a complaint with all the federal links provided in this thread.

Ike, I forgot, Who is Ms. Allen?

Also, the BBB representative who spoke to me today was quite surprised when I told her that the Maryland Attorney General's Office; Consumer Protection Division TOOK I EARN LLC'S  WORD FOR IT that they had refunded my money and were therefore going to close out my case.  !!!!    What the heck?!  Taking the crook's word for it???   Sheesh.
