This man calls me from this number 1807691058 and threatens to put me in jail of I don't pay 600.00 by the end of the week. I have three kids I make 380 every month I am pregnant and in the hospital with my life and my baby's life hanging in the balance the last thing I need is someone calling me and threatening me everyday to put me in jail if I don't cooperate with the company. They are asking Mr for my social security number and other personal information that should remain private. This company is apparently going by the name accurate collections agency and the have been harassing me for six months or more and I can't take it anymore. They treat me like some kind of criminal and I don't know what to do anymore I don't want to go to jail.

The FCC has no jurisdiction over rogue debt collectors. You need to contact the Federal Trade Commission.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Telemarketer
These people have been calling me for months now about 4-10X a day and I have the number blocked. They always call right after 8am and usually mid morning, multiple times and mid afternoon multiple times and sometimes right before 9pm weekdays.
They are the most persistent of any caller. I have never dealt with any kind of Payday or loan deal. Most of the phone calls during the day are telemarketers so I don't even answer unless I get a voice mail. To report it you need to know a company. Why can't the FCC stop this since it is going on for years. This is beyond harassment.

Got a couple calls from this number, asked them to remove our number because it was a security desk (separate from the actual "employer" of the people they were trying to reach). They asked to speak to two different people, but I just told them that I couldn't verify the information and to please remove the number. They were polite while I was polite.

On a separate note: you cannot be arrested for defaulting on a loan of any type. The only time you can be imprisoned for owing money is on taxes to the IRS.

This lady called over a loan that was barely a year old. She called for my cousin. She told my cousin that if he didn't pay 1200.00 by noon today then he would be arrested immediately. Now first off I want to say, I was in the loan and collection business for 4 years. I was the one person that everyone hated because I came to your house or your work to collect  20.00. Did I like doing that, absolutely not. It was my job and I was good at my job. Now did I scare my customers, no I didn't. I treated all if my customers like family. Like family. I didn't treat them like scum. Every single one of them loved when I would show up to collect. Because I would show up and hear the stories of what was going on in their life. I couldn't bare to take money from a family that was not doing good financially. Especially if they had kids. This person, and yes I would like to call her more than that, she should not be in collections. She shouldn't have a job right now. You don't scare people into paying something that they don't have the money for. He is in no way financially stable enough to pay anything on this loan. If I could I would talk to this woman face to face and tell her she shouldn't have a job, and shouldn't be allowed to call customers. I am done rambling. But lady if you see this message, I dare you to come to my house. I dare you. I will let you know a little bit about how to do your job the correct way. Your a moron.

you may have to actually close that account and reopen another new account, and make sure that any debit cards you have etc are disabled as well for the old account.  You can also contact a company by the name of Loan Assistance Group, they are life savers for people who have been caught up in the payday loan avalanche.  Their website is www.loanassistancegroup.com  Just call them and talk to them, they are fantastic people who have been working with people to get out from underneath the payday loans for years and have a fantastic success rate.

I just got a new phone and new number. Ever since then, I get about 5 calls a day from this number saying they are CheckNGo looking for Josephine Perez. I tell them repeatedly that that is not me. So, they say, "Well put her on the line then, we know this is her number because we have spoken to her on this number in the past" "it's a verified number..." etc. Or they just ignore that and keep calling me Josephine, assuming that I am lying. Pretty insulting.

Obviously, this Josephine chick had some loans and changed her number to avoid the calls. I'm the lucky one that gets her old number. I've offered to send them my phone bill showing when my account was activated, it would most likely show it was activated long after Josephine got a loan with them, but they refused. I am to the point where I a feel I need to change my number even though I just got this one.

Note to self: If there ever comes a time when I feel that I need a payday loan or something, you can rest assured I will never get one or at least never go thru this company! Horrible experience. I'm not even a customer and yet get talked down to and belittled any time I answer the phone.

I may change my number, but what I have done in the mean time is saved their number as "Do Not Answer" and set it to go straight to voicemail. Out of the 5 calls a day/25 calls a week, they only leave one or 2 voicemails so it has gotten a little better.

I started receiving calls yesterday. They called 10 times starting at 9:30 in the morning. Never left a voice mail. I googled the number last night, then called them back. They asked for "Sinora Evans" --- no I am not her, nor have I ever heard of her. I assured them that I was not Sinora and did not know who she was, then asked them politely to stop calling me. They said I had to send a letter or fax stating I was not her. Their mistake but the burden is on me! They were not nice and stated that if I did not send a letter that they would keep calling me. Finally, I got a supervisor to tell me I could send an email and the calls would stop within 24 hours. I sent the email last night --- very legally worded --- and I have not received any calls today. If I get one after 7 tonight, I'll be contacting my attorney!

My identity info was stolen and the thief made a payday loan for $1500 from Check N Go online on Sept 10 and renewed it on Oct 3 with no $$ in his account for the renewal fee. So Check n Go started calling my work number and I quickly found out about this fraud. Reported it to their fraud line and got a pile of paperwork to have notarized, after I get a police report, which takes 10 days. So......in the meantime, these idiots are calling me at work, told them they must stop. So now they call me at work in the evening, when my office is closed. Really guys, almost as dumb as handing out $1500 over the internet, with no verification, to anyone who asks. All you have to have is a checking account, doesn't even have to be in your name, some poor sap's name, address and SSN and a fake email and rake in the dough.  Amazing, whatever happened to getting a signature and verifying phone numbers, bank account and so forth.
