I just received yet another call from this number at my workplace. Instead of answering with our company's name, I just said "This is _____." A woman came on the line (the first time anyone has said something when calling) and asked to speak with Accounts Payable for my company, to which I replied "Speaking." She then gave me the usual language about how this call may be recorded for quality purposes blah blah, then paused and said, "Okay, please disregard this call, ma'am. The payment has been received." Then the line went dead. Though this is a collections company for PSE, they do not appear to have very good information. It is annoying to answer these calls several times each day!

I have received a call on my cell phone from this number every single day for many weeks now. They never leave a voicemail, they just call back the next day.  I have never answered it as I let unknown numbers, especially 1-800 numbers go to voicemail as I figure if they don't leave a voicemail they are a telemarketer or scammers. It appears in this case as usual, they are

The advice from Leigh and K above is sound. I called PSE first to verify my account being current and then called this agency. I spoke with a person (he was able to access my account information) and he saw that I had already paid the amount owing from a previous address. He apologized for my not being removed from their list quicker and said that everything was okay. So... This seems to be legitimate.

This # has been calling me for a week or so daily.  Looked it up here found what was said.  I work for PSE and didnt recognize the number.  After doing the research it is a PSE #.  This is the department that calls for past due closed accounts.  It has not been reported to your credit.  This account of mine is only 10 days past due and is only that way because when I moved they broke my bill apart into 2 different due dates for the closed account (old address) and the open account (new address).  Its on an automated dialer so they will continue to call daily (up to 2 times a day) until they talk to you.... if it is a wrong # you need to talk to some one to let them know you are not who they are looking for so that they can stop the calls.

It's not a scam!!
This is a collections agency that PSE uses. People please do not toss around scammer so easily. It leads people to ignoring a problem that will hurt their credit. Even if you are up to date on your charges there could be a mix-up which is exactly what happened to me. Had I ignored it, it would have went to my credit.

My advice...
If you are not behind and are all caught up on your bill contact PSE and make sure there is no mix up with them. You do not need to give out a bunch of personal information to find out what the problem is. SS #s, CC#s are NOT needed. Do make sure you have your bill with your account number on it. Call PSE directly and let them know collections has been contacting you. Do not listen if they say they don't use such and such. I've ran into 2 agents who didn't know the collections agency their company uses for the area. Get them to keep investigating.

If they have no idea what the problem is and verify you are in good standing with them, then call the collection agency and get information from them. Again do not give CC#s, SS#s, bank information. It won't be needed. Then call PSE back and let them know they are the ones who need to work it out with their collection's agency. It should not be your problem. Maybe there is a mix up and you NEED to get it solved.

Ignoring it, freaking out and claiming it's a scam becuase you don't get a perfectly competent collections company (not many are) or PSE employee (not all are) could land you with problems on your credit and that's a real mess to clean up.

For me it was just that. A mix up with their computers that switched a deposit to an actual charge and becuase I did not know and I was not notified (it happens) it hit collections. I called PSE who stayed on the phone until every detail was worked out. I was told I don't have to call this collections number but I will. I WILL be proactive and make sure my credit is safe.

So, deal with PSE FIRST, then the people who have been calling you so you can update them on the issue, whatever it may be and get them to stop calling. If you can't get through like I said before hound PSE to deal with them. They started it with them, they should finish it. Sometimes everything looks perfect on PSE's end and the collections are the ones who have it messed up. That has happened to me before too!

Please be proactive and do not listen to the generation of people who feel every number called with out perfection when answered or a message left is a scam. You can figure that out for yourself and keep yourself safe with good old COMMON SENSE. Your credit is serious business people.

Hope that helps.

My wife Lindsey Frazier and I keep getting called by this number. 3 times a day. Every day. 1 week straight now. We have tried to pick up. It just hangs up. I have called back and it just rings. It has also gone on my voice mail and it just echoed.....and silence. IT NEEDS TO STOP.

Just to let you know. That if you get a call from 800-772-1169 or 877-439-4750 that they are BOTH numbers that are PSE employees. They are only trying to help you out with your account.

This number has called me multiple times today on my office phone line. As soon as I answer the phone, the call disconnects. I finally captured the number and called it back, it was answered by "Brandy" with "PSE". She asked if I knew two people whose names she rattle off. I told her this was  BUSINESS phone, and no, I don't know the two people she asked for. She promised to take me off the list. An hour later I got another hang up call from the same number. Ridiculous excuse for PSE and/or their collection agency.

After many lengthy discussions with PSE - they informed me that this is a collection agency they use, and that my account was referred in error (we sold our home and all utilites were paid in full at escrow several months ago. We don't even live in their service area anymore).  They assured me that we would receive no more calls after talking with "him" at the collection agency (which they would not name).

We've received the same calls that everyone else noted.  Up to 5 times per day stating it's from Puget Sound Energy. No matter what zip code we enter, it says the same thing - that it could not be verified and asks us to hold for a rep.  Then someone in a British accent comes on the line (recording) and says we'll be transferred and the call ends. It's the same thing every time.

The Customer Service Rep at PSE could NOT assist me. She had to send me to an account specialist who had to contact a supervisor and after quite some time we finally have an answer.

This is rediculous. I have had to turn of my phone. I have been called ten times and when I answer they hang up. Today there was another call and it was small children playing with the phone.  Definitely not PSE.

Sounds like my situation matches everyone else pretty closely. I get the call one to three times per day but the worst part is they are calling me at a government number at work. I can't get it to stop and I don't know why they are calling me in the first place. PSE doesn't seem to have any idea how to handle it. I've never had this kind of trouble with them in the past.

Can someone please let me and everyone know how to stop these calls from this number? I called PSE and they said they were sorry about the mix up and that the calls would stop, but it has not. This is becoming real annoying so if anyone has any way to make all this stop please reply or post. Thanks

I left a post on the 21st. The number has still been calling me since then. Turns out this is some kind of collection agency. Their phone calling system is not working correctly or something, as it fails to connect me with any one. Here is my story with findings below:
The number was still calling me since the last post so I decided to answer today, to try to get them to stop. This time it was the same automated voice, it also gave me a ?name of the person at PSE? trying to calling - I stayed on the line to see if I could get more details to report the person to PSE, as I knew from when I called PSE that this was not their phone number.
I pressed 1 to confirm it was me, it them asks for address information, so I entered in my old zip code number, it said it was invalid and to stay on the line. The phone just rings and rings on the other side, no one picked up this time either.
This time I called they right back, using the 800-772-1169. It rang maybe two times and a woman answered something to the lines of ?Puget Sound Energy, how can I help you? ? I told her this number has been calling me lot and I don?t know why. She asked what number they had been call, so I gave her the number to look it up, I could hear her type my number into her computer, and then she said they have been trying to reach ?So and so? (she said my first and last name) I told her that that was me. She seemed to have access to some kind of data from PSE, because she was able to see my bill, and said it was a mistake that they called because my account was up to date, but that there was a past bill on my old address. (There was in fact a bill due on my old address, at my apt. but since it was since paid shortly after I moved; as I was not there the full mouth, the landlord told over the bill ? but I did not tell her any of this.) She apologized and said she removed me from being called again. She did not ask for any other information (just the phone number and yes on my name) and I did not give any other details.
Turns out they are some kind of collection agency for PSE, still a bit shady with a calling system that does not work correctly and that PSE support has no clue about the number or if they called. I would still not recommend giving them ANY billing or personal details even if you owe money to PSE, call the real PSE directly and work with them.
I?ll update if I get any more calls from them again. In the meantime, if you are getting calls from this number I would call PSE, using the number from their website http://pse.com and find out if there is a problem with your account.

This number calls every day, sometimes multiple times a day.  Sometimes it will say Puget Sound Energy while other times it says unknown, and yet other times when the 800 number appears on the Called ID.

I called Puget Sound Energy one day and the customer service people said it's not them.  One day, I called the number back and a woman answered after 2 rings with "Puget Sound Energy, can I help you?"

Today, it called again and I just pick it up without saying anything.  A real live female was on the line saying "hello, hello, hello?" before hanging up because I didn't even bother to breathe heavily into the phone.

I agree with everyone who posted - do not give any personal information to anyone calling you from some yahoo 800 number.

I just wish the real Puget Sound Energy would be more proactive in trying to stop these scammers from using its name like that.  You would think PSE is sick of these things as well.

This number calls me on average 10 times a day and it's always immediately followed by an "unknown" number when I hang up on it.  If it really is PSE's collection agency service, I don't know why they would be calling me, because I do not owe PSE any money and they do not even service the apartment building that I live in.  Does anyone know if there is a place where you can report these types of phone calls?  I believe that it is harassment to call someone 10 times a day, even if you are a collection agency.

This number (800-772-1169) calls me every day; does not ring for log, maybe one-two rings each time. I was able to answer one of the times and it was a computer automated voice saying it was Puget Sound Energy (the power company in the Puget Sound area.)

It said something about wanting to update my address information and listed off my Frist and Last name, then asked to press one if it was correct or two if not. PSE does use a automated system and it sounds much like the one that called, so I press 1. It then wanted me to give it my address, or to stay on the line to talk to some. I decided to stay on the line and not give it any details, but like the post before mine, it just hung up on me.

The number continued to call me the next day, so I called PSE to find out if this was really them calling me. Turns out it was not, and they don't have 800-772-1169 in their phone system to make any calls from it and they did not need my address information.

Do NOT give this caller ANY of your home details, and do NOT give then ANY billing information. FAKE caller, not really Puget Sound Energy.

Notes:
I just moved and got a new home, so I know my name and some sell details are public details that have been posted per normal home buying and recording.

It called my cell phone (I don't have a land line)

It seems the call type is more Scam then Telemarketer, as this seem to not really be PSE.

I?d say hang up on the caller. If you?re worried that PSE is trying to contact you then call PSE directly using the 1-800 number on their website http://pse.com/

Telemarketer
This number has been calling like every single day, so I decide to pick up this time.  An automated voice came on to say that it is Puget Sound Energy and it needed to talk to me about my account and saying if I am so-and-so to press 1.  I am not so-and-so, but I press 1 anyway.  Another automated voice comes on to ask me to wait for the next available agent.  In the meantime, could I enter my zip code or verify my address.  I enter some zip code that isn't mine (I'm not THAT stupid, ha ha ha) and the voice says it could not verify it.  Well, duh.  Then the call ended by itself.

What a ridiculous waste of time and energy.  These clowns just boggle the mind.
