I Received this call and left a robocall message and a code for me to mention when I call call back.  I did not call back and I went another way to verify this call and still waiting for a reply to confirm this number: 1800-777-1888 whether a legit number or not.

I was thinking why I should call back and follow the instruction left on the message as I did not know who is on the other end and anybody can say who they are and from any company.  The most important thing to remember is that any fox can wear a any sheep skin costumes at any time to attack innocent people.  Why should we believe or trust people that you do not know and / or a fox wearing sheep skin costume?.

Just be very careful nowadays with phone call that you receive. if you see unfamiliar number, business phone numbers and no ID, just do not pick it up and just let your answering machine does the job.  This is how you screen out your phone calls and stay safe from being scammed.

I guess just stick to the old saying: "Don't talk to a stranger".

Assumed it was a scam myself but voice message confirms it is indeed Telus, although it shows up as "United States" on my cell. C'mon Telus - you're a phone company for crying out loud. Can't you set your own call display?

I keep getting calls from this number. I call it back and it's Telus but the funny thing is I've been with Koodo for about 7 years now and had the same number and this is the first time I've ever had this happen. Its relentless, they keep calling me multiple times a day

Telemarketer
Before we dumped Telus we kept getting calls from client care which must be a misnomer since they really don't care. They kept asking if everything was fine to which I questioned why can't they do anything about the telemarketers. We'll they couldn't do anything so I asked if management read over the responses and was assured they did, so I asked if they could respond to my questions that is if they had the balls to do so. Never got one response until I dumped them for another provider and then got 4 - 5 calls a day trying to get me back. Once again I asked about telemarketers and once again no response. Five years later we still get mail addressed to us wanting us back. And five years later they still will not respond to my questions. Glad to hear they got a huge fine on their texting charges. Will never go back to them but who do you go to? They are all crappy ripoff artists.

Calling my pay-as-you-go phone asking for Donna who used to own this number.  I called the 1-800 number and they keep telling me it is a collection agency that called.  I told them it's not a collection agency that called, I told them this 1-800 number belongs to Telus and it is telus calling, I've had this phone number for a year on prepaid, it is not a monthly account and they have no business calling me about someone else's monthly account

Not Always, if you don't have it set up that way.  Mine was way past due, and they called me, as I was out of the country until last week.

This is TELUS.  I just spoke to them, it's their Billing Department.  You can tell because you go through their automated system, which is pretty hard to mistake with any one else.  I'm a TELUS customer, and have dealt with them before.  This is not erroneous information, it is in fact TELUS.

I received a call from 1-866-558-2273 showing up on my phone as beign from the US but my account is in Canada.  I didn't answer, but they left a message instructing me to call this 1800-777-1888 number or *227 from my Telus phone between the business hours and quote a ticket number they gave me.  I was suspicious, so I called the usual *611 to get client care from my Telus phone.  An automated message told me my account payments were past due, and quoted what I owed.  I thought this was strange considering I had preautorized billing.  After talking to the rep, we determined it was all legit, and an issue I had with online card fraud that required my card to be replaced and account to be put on hold for a few days messed up my preauthorized payments.  In short, I didn't get a call from the number this is listed under, but calling it is the actual telus number as shown on their contact page.  That's all I got!

This is NOT telus
They called me, and asked for a name not on my telus account, could not provide any information on my telus account.

For the other people that suggested this is a collection agency, it is likely not. Because they called me on my telus phone, hence it wasn't disconnected, and no collection agency would collect on a currently open account (there's no way to get paid for their services if you paid your normal bill).

It is actually Telus. If you call back at 1-800-777-1888, you can make a payment by credit card, report a recent payment you made or speak to an agent to make a payment arrangement. It is a department of Telus, NOT an outside collection agency. Why people who are not with Telus are getting calls I don't know, but this is not a scam!

I got a call from 800-777-1888 and some woman who wouldn't identify herself ranted I was$ 649.00 behind on a Telus bill and she wanted my credit card number right now.
I won't give out that information so I said I'd check with the Wife who handles the bills.
Turns out we're not late, we owe our monthly amount about $75.
Who the hell are these people?
When our Telus contract is up, They're getting dumped.
I had a similar problem with Telus back in 1990. I took over my brother in laws Telus contract that had a year left on it. I wasompany Rep. and the Cell phone ( more like a car phone, big, clumsy and in a bag
like a  military radio. But, hey it worked.
The phone died, I phoned Telus and told Customer Service I would not be renewing. Fine, they said. Perfectly alright. A Month later, legal harrasment, they claimed I owed for the next three years, automatic renewal unless I had sent them a registered letter three months before contract expired.
B***s***. I said.
The Government kiboshed Automatic renewal and even after I stupidly paid a token one months cancellation fee they said would clear it up. By paying the cancellation fee Telus now claimed I acknowledged  the three year debt. It took the threat of a lawyer to get them to back off and leave my credit rating alone. My present contract is from my wifes last job. She was the Manager of Victoria Taxi and needed an iPhone, got me one on some deal.
I will never deal with Telus, they are the scummiest . They constantly pester me to use their Internet and TV service. They can go screw themselves.I hate iphones, few features, crappy battery. Only good thing is Applecare, they will replace a dead one in one day. Good Service, Poor Phone. If Samsung copies AppleCare, then Apple will really be left in the cold. I can't believe iPhones won't let you block numbers so you won't be pestered by harassing sales people. I looked at a used minivan in a car lot and the cowboy hatted Cretin of a Salesman wouldn't let up until I got mad.
So if you are unfortunate enough to be dealing with Telus. Cancel as soon as you can. Don't agree to a Contract and really check out the Service with Consumer Groups and BBB. Really check on roaming charges. If you want to read about a real crooked outfit, look up Exicte Mobile in Austalia. They just got busted for horrendous ripoffs and criminal behaviour. Oh, and never use McAfee software utilities on your Computer. They are as bad as Telus. I hate Crooks and the  system that allows them to operate.

I got this call from Telus on my land line and thought it was a scam, so called Telus on 611 from my cell. It is a legitimate call, and because I am lackadaisical about paying on time, they probably want me to be more prompt.

I just got a call from this number- on my work extension! If it's Telus, how could this even happen? I do not have any Telus debt, my bills are paid regularly and on time, and I have nothing in collections. The only thing I can think of is they're calling my company's phone number and somehow entering the extension to get to my desk, but not necessarily trying to reach me....but they hung up when I answered so I didn't get to hear who it was. Anyhow, beware, like a lot of people are on here saying, scams/calls like this can be costly and dangerous.

I received a call from 1-800-777-1888 on my cell.  I didn't answer as I didn't recognize the number.  Unless I know who is calling, I don't answer.  With so many scams out there I just don't take chances!  Enough of "no answers" and they'll give up at least for a while.

Got calls from this number starting yesterday.  In my case it *is* TELUS related.  The caller is legal entity, possibly solely owned by TELUS/possibly not, but legal to operate as a bona fide collection agency, operating on behalf of TELUS accounts receivable.  This affiliate relationship may account for the "yes it is, no it isn't" back and forth in this blog.

In my case it was for a iPAD data plan that I thought was cancelled by was floating on the $5/month "retention" program.  Since I was unaware of it and, therefore, wasn't using it a all, it was quietly racking up $5 a month until it went into collections and hence the phone calls.

It was straightened out very quickly by contacting TELUS customer service directly.
