800Notes is not a clearinghouse to stop unwanted calls. You will have to do this yourself. The next time they call, demand a legitimate, physical mailing address in which to send a cease communication letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested. If they refuse, let them know you will be seeking legal counsel who will get it for you.

I too have been harassed.   First by an unknown number in Tucson, AZ and now this 1-800-788-4517 number.  I have never had an account with Citibank.   I never answer the call, just hang up.   Can you please get these calls to stop.   Both my husband and I have excellent credit rating and resent getting these types of calls.

I get about four calls a week and I have never had an account with Citibank.  Before these started, I was getting an unknown call from Tucson, AZ.   So these are very frustrating to people like myself.

I received a call from Citi Mortgage asking me to call this number about my account.  When I called back I was asked to input my mortgage account number and the last 4 digits of my SS #.  The electronic voice stated these items didn't match, and the call was to be transferred.  The transfer never completes and the call hangs up.  Now I'm worried about how this is!

It is not the constant calls that are teh problem. It is the rudeness and harrassment.  I have always paid my bill on time.  But due to job loss, we are sometimes late now.  It all depends on when I get paid, like bill due 20th of month but I get paid on the 25th.  I checked with Citi when the loss first happened and they said no problem but these collection people are rude.  It would not be bad if they just called to say that "hey, we see you did not pay yet.  everything okay?"  NO, you have not paid and we are going to charge you and take you to court.  I blocked the collection number.  They thought they were slick and instead of coming up citi, it comes up toll free.  Now I won't get their calls at all. A citi rep can call but not this group.

Really? CitiMortgage is calling????...I do have a HELOC with Citi Mortgage and I ALWAYS make my payments ON TIME!!!  in fact, I recently received a letter from them, thanking me for making my HELOC payment on time each month; if further reads" "Your ongoing commitment is sincerely appreciated".
I hope they are calling me to say " Thank you" and NOT to "Remind" me to make a payment!!!

Event Reminder
To those of you who complain about Citi's Customer Service, Harassment, and a grace period you think is owed to you; It is plain and simple: You are getting these calls because YOU MISSED A PAYMENT. Your late payment COSTS CITI MONEY. They are a bank in the business of lending money to earn interest. You agreed to all terms when you signed on the dotted line. They are not the only game in town, but every other bank will also call you when your late payment cuts into their bottom line. There is risk in lending large sums of money and in this economy, many are defaulting and filing bankruptcy. When this happens, Citi loses money(Govt bailouts not withstanding). I have mortgages with Citi and often pay my home equity between the actual due date and the grace period date; and i DO get those calls, but I do not get upset about getting them because I know that I AM IN THE WRONG! I chose to pay LATE, albeit within the grace period, and accept that those calls are going to come twice a day until I pay(actually a day later since the automated system takes time to update). That's the price you pay be being allowed to pay LATE without getting charged a late fee. Would you rather have no calls and get charged a hefty late fee when you miss the due date? I don't mean the grace period date, but the actual due date you signed up for when you signed for and accepted the loan. Stop whining and ignore the calls that Citi has every right to make!

So after having my mortgage with Citibank for more than 5 years and having no issues making payments on my mortgage, we start of the new year with a nasty call to my employer from Citi Home Equity - Collections (800) 788-4517.  I literally walked in to my job to have the receptionist tell me that I had Citi Home Equity Collections Department on hold trying to reach me.  I asked them to forward the call and took note of the number.  Since I was not sure if this was indeed them I told them I would contact them later.  I called my "Citi Gold" representative and they told me it was a legitimate call from Citi and transferred me to that department.  It turns out that because I was 5 days late on making a payment to my small home equity loan they have taken it upon themselves to harass you with this type of phone calls.   I asked them if the rules had changed because I was told that I had a 2 weeks grace period to make the payment and I was well under that time period and she very rudely responded that "The grace period had nothing to do with the fact that I signed a legal form indicating that I was going to make a payment on a specific date and I didn't".   At that point I was ready to choke this lady over the phone because to think that the $ Citi makes on our Mortgage is almost 3 times the amount that we borrow and to have to be treated like this is just ridiculous.  I asked to speak to a supervisor and it took a while before she actually passed the call through.  I literally had to threaten her by saying that I was recording the conversation because I was planning to file a complaint with the BBB for such a harassing  phone call before I got to speak to supervisor.   Once the manager came on she was very apologetic and said that the call was suppose to be a "Friendly reminder and not a harassment call to inform us that the bill was a pass due in order to prevent a negative report on our account".  She also indicated that as long that I made a payment with in my grace period everything would be fine and she apologized for the the misunderstanding.   I told her that "there was no misunderstanding on my part, just poor customer service on their behalf, because there was no legitimate reason why your clients (us) who you are hired to provide service for have to endure such treatment from your staff".  I also reminder her that I understand that I can understand to some extent why Citi has decided to do this but the fact remains that the call should be a "Friendly reminder" and not a call to"Reprimand" your clients.  Last but not least I reminder her that Citi is not the only game in town and if they keep this up I wouldn't be surprised if people get fed up and switch to another bank to avoid this type of treatment and harassment and before you know it they will be on the news announcing another loss in profits and layoffs.  To all of you who've taken the time to post their aggravations with this experience keep posting and sharing that's the only way others will know the truth and may be they (Citi) will come across this post and realize that the decision to start calling people for this type of crap was not such a great idea and can potentially hurt the company's image.

In the last two weeks, I have received several calls from different individuals indicating that my wife made a loan with CitiMortgage for property in Ponte Vedra Florida. They would not give us any information, only asking us to provide them with personal data. We of course refused. They persist and call several times a day.

Nasty call from citimortgage collection. They want $487 right away. I point out that there is a grace period that will end in about two more weeks. She answers that grace periods are for emergencies. It turns out we paid almost all there was and the new total balance is about $200. The lady (mary) was very unpolite. I called back and tell them so the whole story, the lady (Cecilia) was very professional but refused to apologize and assumed that I was upset because I was getting a lot of collection calls. When she said "what else can I do for you" I asker to apologize and she refused and said she did nothing wrong.

I received a call from this 800 number.  I called it and they said it was about my mortgage not being paid.   I knew the check had been cashed so I told the person this.  She tells me she is going to transfer me to the "lost payment department".  I ended up being transferred to some manufacturing company.  I was livid.  Thinking I was scammed I called Citimortgage, they confirmed my mortgage was paid up.  The number is indeed Citibank home equity collections and even though I had from 4/12 through 4/27 to pay the bill, they called anyway.  GRRRRRRRRRRR to them.   If you know you made your payments, ignore these calls.

A woman left her name and this phone number and her extension and asked me to touch base with her by the end of the day. I've been getting a ton of automated calls from CitiMortgage and this is from them too I am assuming.  This is the first one with a live person who actually left a message.
