Fraudulent
Got this automated all a few minutes ago. Logged in to to take a look around and the BOA Website had a popup window with this same info on it. This has happened to me before and it IS legit. Always question, happy when proven my wrong.

Automated call from Bank of America notifying of a card breach and that they're sending a new card. I called this number 1866 674 6217 back and pressed one to continue and automatically reached a Bank of America message retrieval system message stating a NAME that isn't at my number and the LAST FOUR NUMBERS OF SAID CARD. The message said to call 1 800 793 5755 and human at a call center answered BANK OF AMERICA. I asked location and human said California. I told them first of all they bypassed a solicitor screen. Second thing is that I retrieved a message that did not belong to me with a name & last four of card number. I told the human I tried to call the 6217 number back a second time and the system could not find a message and to wanted me to enter the area code and number from which I'm calling. ( I just hung up) After telling the human what the message told me, I stayed silent waiting for the human to respond and he asked the area code and number from which I'm calling to help me. I stayed silent. He said Hello? I hung up.

I received my replacement card and there's this number i need to call for questions about my card might be comprosed, so I called this number and wondered why was asked for credit card number immediately. then I called the other 800 number on the back of the original card and verified that a replacement card was sent indeed. It is not a sure thing that my card's been used by someone but BofA is suspecting it so they shut down the original card and issued a card witha different set of number.

Actually I thought it was fake, but it was REAL. I couldn't believe it as the letter looked like someone had knocked it up in Photoshop. But I called my Bank directly not the number on the letter and they told me that VISA had reported to the BoA that they got hacked and credit numbers were compromised. So they are sending me a new card.

So this number is REAL not fake, not a scam.

It IS legit.  I called and verified that it was. My card was scammed and the new one arrived the same day.  When I checked my online account the new card was already set up to replace the old one, so the old one is dead.  When I gave my CC number it was the old one which is a defunct number now.

Received similar letter saying my account may have been compromised at unknown location, although they had no evidence that it had been misued.
It said a new card would be sent to me in 5-7 days. It referenced the above number if I had any questions.

Called the number on back of my Visa card and was told the letter was valid, that there had been a security breach. However, they had no record of a new card being sent to me. He confirmed that the 800.793.5755 number was Heartland Payment Sytems (they process transactions from vendors). He gave me a number I could call to request a card with a new account number, but I'm not sure there is any need to do this.

BEWARE! this number is an attempted scam!  do not call this number, do not think about calling this number, and whatever you do, do NOT give anyone on the other end of the line your credit card number.

a BoA operator will NEVER ask for your CC information, because when you call BoA you enter it on the keypad at the beginning of the call, and then the operator confirms your identity by asking you a series of personal information questions.

Don't be fooled by this garbage...stay away from 800.793.5755!!!

I received a letter today exactly like Brendans above, a letter telling me my card may have been used by a third party. The number given to call for questions or information is the one on this page.

What is strange to me is that Bank of America once thought my card was being used some years back (turns out it was just me using it too much) and they canceled my card instantly, without calling me. I do not trust this letter and will be contacting Bank of America directly about this.

This number is not legit at all.  I got the same notice.  You call them and their first question is "may I have your credit card number please."  The supposed note from Bank of America is phony.  It is an attempt to piggyback off of the recent breach at Heartland Payment Systems.  If you call this number they will tell their website is www.2008breach.com which is the website set up by Heartland Payment Systems.  Try asking the person on the phone what their physical address is.  I did and they said they couldn't tell me for "security reasons."  They also said they had no way of looking up my information without my credit card number.  Oh really?  Well what were you even going to do for me once I gave you my credit card number?  This is a complete scam.  Take the letter in to bank of america and they will tell you it is not from them.  Your information most likely got into these people's hands from the recent hack of Heartland Payment Systems.  HPS is being pretty worthless as well in helping people.  They are not reporting whatsoever on the magnitude of the breach and they chose innaguration day to publicly announce the breach so as to minimize impact.  Whoever is saying this phone number is legit is probably associated with the scam.

The number IS NOT genuine; I spoke to BoA customer service rep. and this number IS NOT genuine.

The other posters are engaging in some wishful thinking?

This number is listed on a notice from Bank of America regarding compromised account information as the question call-in number.  Problem is, I'm not sure it's legitimate.  I called the number and got an immediate answer from an 'operator'.  I've NEVER gotten an immediate answer from a company like BoA ... typically a menu of some sort
