Listen it is pretty straight forward.  In a way it is a scam but they aren't going to steal your money ID or whatever any of you think they are trying to do.  It is pretty straight forward.  Give them the $75 deposit fee for the hotel.  They give that back to you plus a little extra on a legit suntrust visa card.  They gave me $150 to cover the deposit and "gas" even though it cost more then that.  The only real obligation you have is to sit through the 90 minute tour and timeshare speech.  It was more like 4 hours from me.  Do what I did pay the money to lock in your trip...spend the weekend there and have a little fun and stop thinking everyone is trying to rip you off.  The resort kind of sucks timeshare wise but it is a free vacation none the less.  Not everyone in this world is trying to screw you.  When they send you your packet of info it shows on the back of the paperwork that it is to sell you timeshares and get you to tell all your friends of the "wonderful" place.  I was told I won one of 3 prizes.  A car, $770 to the resort, or $500 cash...well if you look at the numbers 1 in 100000 win a car...10 i9n 100000 win a $500 gift card...oh and 99986 in 100000 win a gift coupon book...so I will probably go back in the winter to take advantage of the skiing and discounts but if you want a timeshare there are way better places to go.  Hope this helps the people who are actually in need of a free vacation and have half a day to waste listening to their speech.

Got a call from these nice folks to inform me that I won all kinds of unbelievable prizes. I would have to appear in person to reap the benefits of my good fortune. They had called earlier and I googled the number so when they called back I was ready. I let the nice lady go thru her script telling me how lucky I was and after having her repeat my winning code to me five times. (I kept pretending I was screwing it up when I was writing it down) She wanted to schedule a time that I could drive to Fedricksburg Virginia where I asume I would be greeted by the mayor and given the key to the city after the parade thru town. At this point I told her I was under house arrest and asked if she could hold my windfall for 18 months assuming good behavior. This is the point where everything went south. The demeanr of the nice young lady changed and she was ready to end the call faster than a bad habit. I pleaded and begged but she hung up. Had she stayed on the line I was going to tell her I was doing time for timeshare and telemarketing scamming. I don't think they will be calling back.

They called me today, I haven't filled out any cards for anything recently. Said I have won $25K towards a new car, I wouldn't pay $25K for a new car, asked if I could just have the money instead.  "Brock Anderson" said I "might"have won $20K cash or a Caribbean cruise.  I told him to just send the money, I'd be glad to take it.  Said good-by.  Caller ID:  Mktg Masters In, 540-886.9330.U7

I recieved the same call today and to call Maria.  I have to go to a resort an hour away to claim a prize.  She told me to expect to be there for an hour or so.  A resort most likely means I have to hear a timeshare presentation.

Called me too, and said the same thing, as was said to Sam. Don't these people have something better to do then to think of ways to do a marketing scheme on someone. And why get a call at 9:00pm telling my Husband that I have won a prize. And to call MAIRA, give her the code to obtain your prize

Right! I didn't just fall off the fish head truck yesterday.

I had the same message and no idea where it came from. Its all a lie I called and asked it went into a cat and mouse game that resulted into asking way to much information. Anythiny that says call and ask for someone  is going to be a scam. Thanks everyone and be alert.

Got the exact same call today!  They referenced a form I had filled out at a golf tournament in July 2009 (over 7 months ago!).  Apparently Maria must be a loyal worker cause she was the one I was told to contact!

I received the same call, about the same prizes, they claim to be with Massanutten Resorts and they say they're trying to promote word of mouth for the resort.  The catch happens when they ask you to send them $25 via visa or mastercard to hold your slot...... If its mine, just send it to me, I'm not giving my personal info to anyone.

Be aware, if it sounds too good to be true, It's usually a lie!

I got a call from an unlisted number on September 29th at telling me I won one of five prizes.  The number one prize is supposed to be $25,000 toward a new card.  They claim to have obtained my information from a card that was filled out next to a new car somewhere, which I never would have done.  They told me to call 1-800-797-3052 and ask for Maria and give her my prise code in order to obtain my prise.  I do not plan on following up except to research the company.  I assume this is just some marketing scheme or timeshare trap.

Just to add to what everyone is already saying, my story is similiar but i was told to give $75 up front because of the fees to have someone meet with me.  I was more worried that if i gave them a credit card, they would wipe me clean.  I asked why i had to pay to win all these great prizes...they responded it was for the cost of someone meeting me and their time.  Ok...so let me get this straight...if i dont show up, then i am basically saving them Thousands of dollars in vacations and other gifts...i think the time of one person for a day wouldnt matter.  They tried to justify it by saying they were acccreitiated by the BBB and part of Massanutten Resort center.  I said, well then, it shouldnt cost you any money to meet me since you work there anyway...then she admitted they were just a call center.

Basically they leave drawing boxes everywhere they can and offer some free prize...typically near a car that may be displayed.  They then have local call centers (in my case, some paint company that already has a secretary) to take the calls and set this up.  I actually called the massanutten resort center to confirm this, and they were not very helpful, but gave me some number to a promotional company on the other side of VA.  The lady knew exactly what i was talking about, but would not give any information...was very dissapointed.  Next stop is the mall to complain that they allow people to drop these things off and do this.

Will block this number 540-886-2680 because they continue to call my cellphone. We did go to one of those awful timeshare presentations over a year ago and we told them at that time that we were not interested.

Got the same phone call and i did remember filling out a form but i was still weary. I decided to give it a shot since my husband wouldnt let the thought of winning a car go. It was a time share pitch but after we declined i waked away with a 500$ visa gift card and a Fl vacation package. If you have 90 minutes to spare all in all i think its worth it.

Ha ha ha, same deal, yadda yadda 25 Gs towards a car or 20 Gs cash, year long resort something or other, or a $500 gift card. Staunton, Va. Lucky me! They must make it up as they go along. Well, jobs are tough. Whatever.

Same thing just happened to me! A call from a 540-885-3198 number and was told I was this lucky winner. Was told I filled something out over 1 yr ago and told to call 1-800-797-3052 and ask for Karen or staff. Was told to give my code #85L and I will be given an additional prize if call between 9am and 8pm. I am so glad I found this site bc None of that conversation sounded legit. Now I will block  my cell number from these ppl!

Thanks to all that posted.  They called me before too, a while back, told them i wasn't interested and to stop calling.  The woman on the other line got nasty told me to stop filling out forms if I didn't want to be called.  Didn't hear anything for a couple of months.  I answered the second time they called, I was told to talk to Chelsea...guess Maria and April are off..ha ha.

I get an extra bonus..ha ha.  Figured it was a scam.  Thankfully there are sites like this to help people avoid them.

A lady called with a scam name and congurtulated me with guararanteed one of the following prizes:
-  $25,000 towards a new car
-  $20,000 Cash
-  Cruise
-  $500.00 Visa Gift Card
Congratulations the lady told me!  She stated that I don't have to buy anything or sign up for anything.  She said just call our Rewards Center and they will let you know which prize you have won.  I was given a "Rewards Code 30F" and told to call 1-800-797-3052 the next morning between 9:00 am - 8:00 pm.  I was also told to ask for APRIL.  So the next morning I called and talked to a couple of ladied one a time. The second lady proceeds to tell me that not only have I won one of the four prizes but I have also won a One week vacation for 4 to Florida and a $50.00 gift card to use for gas!  All that was left to do is figure out a time for me to come to the Rewards Center @ Wilderness Presidential to claim my prize.  While at Wilderness Presidential they will match my Prize Code S04173SVC42LM to see which one of the four fabulous prizes I have been so lucky to have won, while I get to go on a 90 minute tour of the place "Massamutten, 1822 Resort Dr., VA 22840.  To finalize her b***s*** buisness she came up with an idea by saying that I have to make a deposit payment of #25.00 (U.S. twenty five dollars) with check; VISA, or Master Card now.  She continuned by saying she will make a reservation rightaway. I have told her that I will discuss this with my wife and call you back. How many people are cheated like that? Is there an authority to control/ punish such kind of useless society enemies. Please give them a lesson once and for all to stop such kind of stupid robbery from inoccent people.

I just got a call telling me I won prizes similar to those posted above and asked me to call an 800 an ask for Maria and provide her with a code.  It sounded too good to be true.  I have dealt with the Massanutten people many times trying to get me to go to their timeshare seminar and when I refused, they got really nasty.
I wouldn't waste my time with these people. Thank you all for posting this.
