Another post led me to a company named "Vital Recovery Systems" since I was getting 3 calls a day (8 am, 1 pm and 6 pm). So I figured what the heck and called (678) 578-1020. This is the number for the company listed by the Better Business Bureau. I talked to a nice guy, asked him if his company was using the 800 number for robocalls to collect debts. He said they were so I explained I was being harassed by 3 calls a day. I had got the number they were calling about 2 years ago, had no idea who the party was they were trying to reach. He asked for my number so he could take it off the call list. I gave it to him and have not received any more calls. Of course, when another company uses the same 800 number, the calls may start again. No guarantees, but you may want to try it.

These people are crazy..They call all hours I keep telling them the person they are looking for does not live at this number and never has, They say they will take my number off the list but the next month they call again. They just won't give it up. Very RUDE also when I try to explain that I do not know this person.

rule number one: Always use an answering machine
rule number two: Never, i mean, NEVER answer a phone unless you know who it is. If important, they Will leave a message.
I have been living by those rules for years and it works like a charm! You'd be surprised at how fast they move on, and surprised how many others will try. It really never ends. But Do not give in! Once you pick up, you are tagged as a potential for, bottom line, being some kind of money source.

They have been calling our number ever since we moved here 4 years ago. At first it was not so frequruent this past year its been every day except Sunday sometimes 2x a day. I turned the ringer off and never pick up. About 3 to 4 years ago I did pick up they are looking for a woman I never heard of, told them that, asked them not to call anymore etc... Once when asked them not to call "I" was yelled at and told not to be rude??? Huh? Very rude people and relentless! I thought about getting caller block on my phone but they have so many other lines would that work? Thinking about doing away with my land line all together just because of this scum bucket. I mean seriously, 4 years of them calling who does that? and WHY? I have never given them any info except that the person they are calling does not live here, but they keep calling.

In some instances a debt collector will dial your number when they are trying to reach someone else. This happens either because the number is new to you or because there has been a mistake in data processing of a phone number, and that mistake finds its way into a "skip trace" report.
Either way, many collection companies will limit the ability of their collectors to remove a wrong number, even if they have been told not to call.
The best way to stop this is by sending a a written demand that they cease communications. I have posted sample letters on my web site?s law library. http://www.sue4abuse.com/library.html (Letter 3)
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) requires that they honor written requests like this, and stop almost all communications. If you send a letter like this, you should do so by certified mail, return receipt request, and keep a copy of the letter together with the return receipt.
If they keep calling after that, your best option may be to have an attorney help get their attention or pursue claims under the either the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) or the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). At that point, you will have the documentary evidence you need to bring a strong case. (the letter your sent)
Your can find other FDCPA and consumer protection resources on my web side. www.sue4abuse.com

Got an automated call from them, asking for someone who doesn't even live here, which is an obvious sign that it was a debt collector. The message said to call them back if you're not who they're looking for, but of course they don't care if you're not who they're looking for. Calling them back will just validate your number and you'll keep getting harassed. They just want to get paid and it doesn't matter by who. Hell, what are the chances that they're trying to get many people to pay off the same alleged debt?
| Too smart for their tricks 2011-06-06 20:58:25 Unknown |
I have been getting calls from three different companies including this one even though I have no debts. They all claim to be looking for different people whose names are unintelligible in the messages they leave. The truth is this is a scam. They are really after your personal information (name, SS number, address, etc.) to sell to other companies. Don't give them anything. They are hoping you get annoyed and write letters and call them so they can get your information that way.

HARRASING CALLS DUE TO NUMBER OF CALLS
DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE LOOKING FOR
| Nina 2011-06-06 20:58:25 Unknown |
This is some bogus "collection agency" that just buys up lists of names and addresses and numbers and sends out anything hoping they'll score at some point.
Ignore, ignore, ignore. They are bottom feeding sleaze and your best bet is never to have any interaction with them. Hang up, toss and blow off. Don't EVER give them any information -- they'll just add it to their database and use it to harass you even further.
We have no debt, outstanding or current, and they call non-stop. No one who really knows me uses my land line anyway, so I let it go to an anonymous answering machine or hang up if I don't recognize the voice.
