I got same call from same number and same person (I am sure Amit Kaushik is a fake name). I said I will go Western Union tomorrow (I had no plan to go to Western Union), they said go today our office will be closed on weekend. They want me to go to western union ASAP.
So few things to note:--
1. Gov. office does not open at 7pm EST.
2. Gov. official do not push you to do thing asap (specially if they are giving money ;) )
3. (very imp.) If someone is asking Money to process payment, mean something is wrong.

Btw I called my local police dept and informed them, they will put this scam in their newsletter and send alert to resident about this scam.

Beware of such scams. they call by different govt depts federal bureau of health and human services....

Don't fall for that. it is a prank.

These people are calling to get money from you. They will tell you that you were randomly selected for US Government Grant for "X" amout of money.  They will tell you to go to Western Union and send some money as deposit and will tell you wait there until they get confirmation and they will send Grant Money thru Western Union.  DO NOT FALL FOR THAT.  I am a victom of that.  After sending money, they will tell you that there is a "SERVER PROBLEM" for transfering money for Grant.  They will tell you that as soon as money is transferd to THEIR Western Union Head Quaters, they will call you.  After couple hours or may be next day you will get call back saying your Grand Money is at their head quaters now but you will have to send them Transfer Fee and Tax Fee etc.  In short they will ask to send some more money.    DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY.  Call your local law authority and give them their call back number.

Who are they?

I got call from same number. He said I am from Federal Bureau of grants debt and congraulation you have been awarded $12500 by goverment for paying your tax on time. He asked me to go to Western Union and call 800 number ext number 109. Then I have to transfer $125 and give him the code. Once done then he will transfer $12500. He also gave me address.Be aware of such call.

Got a call from them. Heavy accent. Said I paid tax on time so giving me back some. Before that need to send them around $150 through Western Union. Asked him to reduce that and send the balance to me. He said not possible.. Ofcourse Scam..

I answered one and asked for a call back number, Heavy accent and his name was Edward Smith. Said that we were going to get a grant and asked for my wife as her maiden name, been married for 22 years Has to be a scam.

This is a scam.  Someone with a heavy accent calling saying he is James Parker from the Federal Bureau of ? something.  He is hard to understand.  He says he has money to give.

I got one too. The person who left message had a heavy accent.

I got one yesterday too

The message on my machine, and the several calls before today, state that the caller is calling from the federal bureau of debt. There is no such department and this screams scam to me.
