Numerous calls from this number with aggressive person on line. Demanding to speak to Owner. Indicated today that he is from "National Debt Relief" and wants to handle case of someone who owes us money.  (Debt collection in reverse of what others report) Gives a different number to call back. Asked if I could read off what number  is on caller ID. I told him I could not once I answer the phone.

1st phone was from 202-506-9656 officer Brian smidex very threatening. He said is this phone number!!!!!!!!!!!! I said yes. He said don't say a word until I'm finished I started to say something and he said did  you understand you're not to say anything until I'm finished. Is your lawyer there you owe the IRS $5,000. And you have 30. Min to. Get and send to us. Told him I was going to call the IRS he said wait let me get my supervisor another man named Sebastian Cabot gets on the line and said he was from restoration dept I ask him for his badge # he said 1034776 told him I was going to call irs and turn this #in he hung up. Within I get a call from  800-829-1040. Then today I get a call from 202-222-2222 didn't answer.

website, IRS will mail you notice. BIG SOPHISTICATED SCAM!!!!!

They told me they have a loan up to $10K, I told them I wasn't interested.  I called the number back to ask to be off their call less and it said it was the IRS

Got a call from this number but they left no message! On a saturday when the irs is not even open so not going to answer if they call again!  It is a legit number cause I did try to call back but as i said they arent open so why no message and have never recieved anything in the mail so... scarey!

SCAM ALERT!  PLEASE BE AWARE!  Scammers are somehow using this number to show up on Caller ID.  This number has called at least 15 times just today.  It's a strong Indian accent male uses very easy names (John Smith).  He left a message with a different call back number 1-888-650-4784.  He says he's from the IRS, has my full name, last four of my social and says I'll get arrested.  They are very persistent.

I'll repeat what I've previously posted under other IRS-related topics -- the IRS never, never, NEVER initiates contact by landline, cell, or text, but by Snail mail ONLY. Same goes for Social Security Administration, Medicare, etc.

Why the IRS does not get involved, is very annoying having this people with a heavy accent call saying that are from IRS
and very difficult to understanding them and the government does'nt do nothing

They are calling and say they have my physical address - when I challenged them they got all pissy and made threatening statements about what they would do to my wife.

We have been getting calls with caller ID displaying different numbers and one displaying this number which happens to be valid IRS number. While typing this now, I got another call from # 914-612-7258 from some one identifying as officer Watson (female) with a very heavy accent. I asked her - she is officer from what government and what country and then hanged up. This is becoming very annoying.

got a call from two different 202 numbers and now this one its the same exact guy with an accent do not give him any info. hes a scammer if you call them they will continue to call more. beware don't even give them your name. SCAMMERs

My husband got a call from 202 864 1137 & 800 829 1040. The caller from "IRS" asking my husband to pay $2,800.00 within an hour or else he will make sure my husband will lose his jobs, can't use the passport... etc., the caller even said the IRS does not know yet about how much my husband owes. THIS IS A SCUM...

Total Scam. The phone 800-829-1040 is a legit IRS number. However, they ask u to call a different number. Do not fall for this. Even if u have an issue with the IRS, they never call. The initial contact is by mail stating the nature of the problem. U are given time to solve the problem. Also, any money due to the IRS is always paid to the "US Treasury" (this is what we write on checks if taxes are due) and never by wire or by some green dot cards. If the IRS has an issue with you, the problem usually is not solved over the phone in 15 minutes with an offer to settle. If you pay to the IRS electronically, there is a process that has to be followed and you can never set it up right away. After u apply to pay electronically, they send u a PIN in the mail. These scum bags are in some boiler room; have no clue about laws work in the US and are using words like money laundering, arrest, non-bailable warrants to scare people.  

The number is a legit IRS number. That's what shows up when they call. But guess what, they ask u to call a different number. Believe me people, this is a SCAM. The IRS does not call -- the initial action is always by mail. Do not give in to these scumbags. Do not give out any personal info or email.

I received a call from this number and also another from # 202-241-3122. Today, I called 800-829-1040. Recorded message says i reached IRS office but could not go past that. Is this scam?

totally a scam got a call from this number today too from some indian accent guy saying i am being charged with serious allegation, i told him to go jump off a cliff and end his worthless life

This phone number is a SCAM!!!! The person calling from this number claims to be from the IRS.  He says his name is Daniel Obrien (with a heavy East Indian accent) and he tells me that I have a lawsuit against me and I have to call him and give him all kinds of information. I don't owe taxes nor do I have a lawsuit against me.  Also, the number he wants me to call back is somewhere in Washington State (Not Washington DC).  That number is 206-567-3255. Anyone who gets a call from these people should report them immediately to the IRS. The fraud tax number is 1-800-366-4484. The IRS is aware of this fraud scam going on.

I get these calls several times a day as if someone is really desperate to talk to us. But then they tell us to call back at 8008260861. They pose it as tax fraud and a case will be filed against us, while we don't have any problems with IRS. I have been getting calls every day and sometimes 10 times in 3 hours.
