Even though the statute of limitations has expired it does not mean they cannot call to collect. It means that they cannot take legal/court action against the debtor.

Just called, only rang 3 times so the answering machine didn't come on. I looked it up here and most are saying it's about student loans. I don't have any and never did but one of my kids does (she is still going to college and doesn't live with me)  Maybe they find out who might have them and call and try and collect for them? So far they only called once, but I get strange calls all the time that say various things (sometimes the name of a city and state) and don't answer and they don't leave messages.

Really? That's very interesting. Where do you obtain your facts anyway? I have never had a student loan and don't owe money to anyone. You are giving some pretty dangerous advice telling people to give personal information to criminals.

A legitimate collections company would not be calling you in the middle of the night for one thing. They are required to tell you who they are and why they are calling you. These people are scammers/criminals/drug addicts looking to steal money from legitimate people

Check your facts before you go mouthing off about people you don't know. I don't owe money to anyone for anything. I haven't even been at my second home which has the number they are calling for months. This is another group of criminal drug addicts trying to steel money from people.

I received a call from this number today and the lady was extremely rude. Her name was Shelley Brown, who knows if that's her real name or not, and she started asking all kinds of personal questions, but would not tell me who she worked for. When I She was extremely rude when she was talking to me, and when I tried to get information from her. This company, if it is one, should be sued for harassment. They are very shady and they also seem to seek out the most rude and unprofessional people to work for them.

I'm tired of this psycho company stalking me at work.  This is absurd.  Do not call my work phone any more.  Quit calling my personal cell phone all day long.  That is called harassment.

I started getting calls from these guys a few weeks ago. Normally I do not answer numbers I don't know (the whole "pick up the phone get charged" scam thing freaks me out), so just ignored it. No voicemail. This went on for days, then weeks. I finally answered a few days ago, and this guy starts asking me my birthday, social security number, etc etc. I ask him who he is affiliated with, and he dodges the question, saying "I need this information before I tell you anything about me (paraphrasing, but that's basically what he was saying)." I noped on out of that phone call, and blocked the number (One of the only nice things about having an iPhone).

The next day, he calls again....FROM A DIFFERENT NUMBER. I finally grew some cajones, and told him that if he was the same man who called me the previous day, he was going to get the same answer: tell me who he was, and why he was calling me, or he was getting no information from me about anything. He didn't say anything helpful, so I hung up and blocked that number too. Haven't gotten a call from him in a week.

They call me on my cell about once a day, usually when I am at work! I answered once and they asked for me using my maiden name but were looking for my husband. I gave them his cell number and asked not to be called anymore. They still call, I just let it ring and there is never a message left.

You must be a company troll trying to say positive things about a predictor.  How different if it were you or your family getting calls for someone you neither know, have heard of, or just dosen't owe any loans at all.  .

They have been calling multiple times a day even calling work. They won't say why they are calling. I've never heard of Regional Adjustment Bureau and will not provide me with any information unless I verify DOB, SSN. The last person who called like this had all my information, which they read off before I could say anything, including DL#, address and work information, turned out to be scammers collecting on a non-existant loan threatening arrest.

Please have them stop calling my phone. They call from a generated system and if I am teaching, forget to cut off the phone..they call in rapid succession until I can get there to mute. Just plain harrassment and they care calling the school office where I work. I believe that is against the law.

I got this call tonight. I think it's a phishing scam. Thinks someone has illegally acquired names and addresses from a database of people  and is trying to see if any associated numbers "work" to use other scams on. If it works, your number can be sold to others to scam you - like getting SocialSecurity numbers mentioned above. My caller said someone was trying to call me collect and would I accept the changes --- from 800-829-7204. The caller couldn't pronounce anything and was VERY hurried - like the more calls you make the more money you (the caller) can make. It is a scam. Even the name "Regional Adjustment Bureau" doesn't even mention "collections agency" or have anything to do with student loans. It could be a "adjusting your broken belt size" company. You are ASSUMING the name has "urgency" attached to it so you respond the best you can as none of us like to hold up getting someone out of trouble.

IT'S A SCAM. Let me say that again. ITS A SCAM AND IT GOT YOU. IT'S A SCAM AND IT GOT YOU. A legitimate business has an 800-number so you can call the company toll-free. An 800 number is not one to call YOU from if its a legitimate business.  BLOCK THAT NUMBER AND THE ONES LISTED ABOVE.

YOU'VE BEEN SCAMMED AND WILL GET MORE CALLS SINCE YOU "VERIFIED" YOU PHONE NUMBER IS A WORKING NUMBER. DON'T ANSWER AN 800 NUMBER!!!

When it comes to phone calls for debt collection, it varies from state to state, so check your state's harassment laws.. Some states allow more than one call per day but most allow one per day and none on Sunday. By law, the person calling you (or that you called) must give you the name of the company they are  calling from. If you do not remember what is owed or if you dispute the collection, you have the right to ask for and receive an itemized list of what they are collecting for (what items they are collecting for broken down into understandable language). DO NOT agree to owing the bill because this puts you back at square one when it comes to statute of limitations on the bill they are trying to collect for. The bill may be years old and the statute of limitations may have run out (meaning that the company can no longer collect for the bill). This applies for credit cards and loans. Most people do not know this and the companies thrive on this. Check out the statute of limitations for your state. Most are 3 years, but their are some states that have a statute of 5 to 6 years. The only exception to the loan statute is with student loans for school. These have no statute of limitations. Your excessive phone call experience is harassment. Check the laws. Most states only allow one call within a 24 hour period and only between the hours of 8 am to 9 pm.  More than that, depending on how many you are getting, is harassment. These people work on commission to collect a bill, and some are scams. If they cannot show you the money in black and white (they have to do this by law) and they will not give you the name of the company, their name, or any other pertinent information you ask for, then it may be a very old bill or a scam. Also check the Better Business Bureau for any complaints  or reports of scams and check the Attorney General for any lawsuits against this company. It may be a hassle to have to go through all of this, but it arms you with the information to keep you from being scammed. Remember that you do have the right to know. This is federal and state law everywhere. Do not disclose your information to them. They may use it against you to scam you for money or steal identity if they are scammers. If they have no complaints as of yet with the BBB, then start it. They are not supposed to be rude on the phone with you. Not even a lawyer is supposed to be rude. They are to state business in a business like manner, but are in no way supposed to be rude. If they are hanging up on you, as I have read in a few accounts here, then they may have a very old bill that the statute of limitations has run out on or they are scammers. I hope this helps.

This is Regional Adjustment Bureau and they were calling for my daughter not me.  They STILL left a message on my voicemail even though the voicemail told me to not listen to this message unless I was my daughter.  That is such BS!!!!  They shouldn't be able to leave ANY message for someone unless they are definitely sure who is getting the message.  They also have another phone #800-668-5715 that she left for my daughter to call.  I am definitely sure this is about overdue student loans.  I am going to block them from calling my phone from here on out.
