BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies starting business in the Upstate New York area over the past several years. In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with federal and state law, we have asked for specific information from all collection agencies located in our service area, including proof of licensing, bonding, and or registration required by NY state or other governments where the business is located, as well as proof of licensing required by any state in which the business operates. This collection agency has not responded to our requests. BBB advises consumers to be aware of their rights in regard to collections. This includes New York States law prohibiting any collection agency from collecting on Payday loans in the State of New York. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) outlines prohibited behavior when attempting to collect a debt, and outlines specific rights for consumers. There are penalties for agencies found in violation of the Act. Call fro Gerry Miller, stating she'll be at my house with a "notice of Intent". When I try to call the number back I get Check & Credit report incorporated. If you know you're party's ext. stay on line or press 1. The mail box is full and can't take anymore calls. Left me a case # also.

Attorney Patrick M Corbett is a fraud.  The federal govt has taken action against his agency Souther Tier.  Debt collectors can't do much but scare the hell out of you.

Now southern tier agency is using yet another front and a new group of victims if you ever had an advance america loan beware a process server will call you then give you another number to call which is check and credit reporting saying they are pressing charges against you that hold serious jail time and you are to be served there was a breach in the company that advance america does use and information was stolen,   I paid it off like a fool and now I am out 445 dollars hope there is help with my bank to get it back

This number comes up private on caller ID and he says he is Antonio ? Gonzalez with a law firm and gives a claim number and that I have to call immediately.  On the website 800notes.com this number is listed as related to Patrick Corbett law offices and debt collectors use his license to scam people out of money.  Advice was not to give them any account info.  If he calls again we are going to tell him we are in contact with the Attorney Grievance Committee in Buffalo NY and until his ID is verified we won't be doing any business with him.

These people called me today private. When I answered the caller stated that he was from Check and Go Credit Reporting he asked me if I was such and such and when I said yes he asked me to hold while he got the arbitrator, so I hung up. They called back again private and left a message. The msg was from someone named Myles Gay stating that he was an investigator. He left me a file number and asked that I called 1-800-841-7793. So when I called the number back its a company called CCR Incorporated. They put this guy on the phone and the voice is very familiar, he starts talking to me like he knows me. So I ask his name and he says this is Frank Lewis I talked to you last week,a dn Im like oh yeah, but werent yoju with another company Southern Tier Agency, Law Offices of Pat Corbett? And he's like yeah as of the 1st blah blah blah. Im thinking to myself like wasnt the 1st( yesterday) a holiday but anyway hes like yeah this matter has been sent out already. So i like well then why did yall call me, I just got a message saying to call this number back ASAP if I wanted to resolve this matter so he tells me to hold on while he finds the "investigator" who called me. So when he gets on he asks me if Ive seeked any credit counseling yet and hes here to help me! He starts telling me that I owe for a payday loan I took out this year. I havent taken out any payday loans this years. So he says well the dates dont matter its probably a typo! He says you owe for two but one of them I'll knock out if you pay the other

They told me that they were suing me for breach of contract, fraud and non payment, I thought that the loan had been paid. I have contacted the payday loan company and am waiting for a response from them.

I asked for a Notorized copy of said debt. I do not own a checking account and for some reason they say I do. I asked for their information so that MY attorney could call and speak with him. He then got angry and said we are with the BBB I said any business reputable or unreputable can be on the BBB list. He said that is not how we do things our dept. will call your attorney. I said NO my attorney will call you. I then stated that I wanted verification again about said debt. He then got rude, and said that they would sue me. I said that's fine but I will give my attorney this phone number and she will proceed from there what you are doing is against the law. I have the right to know what is being held against me. I have a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. They have to provide proof when you ask for it. It must be legitimate and Notorized. He hung up on me, after calling me a very unscrupulous name. Makes one wonder how legit they are especially when I have not a checking account.

can you tell me if this is real?  I received a call saying that I owned money.  I contacted them and they answered CCR & Associates.  I have nevered used cash net for a payday loan, but they had all my info.  But after reading everything on here, they wanted me to set up payments from my account or credit/debit card.  I aksed for something in writing and she said she could only email.  Should I be concerned?

I got the same call, and as to date they have Taken 400.00 of my money which i thought i had to pay and not only are they taken the money but it is on my child support card how dare them they are stealing from me and my child I am going to see what i can do to get these guys into trouble that is rediculious thank god i decided to check the validilaty of this man today for somereason and now i know the truth can we get this money back at all does anyone know?

I just got a call from someone claiming to be working for this Patrick Corbett and they told me it regards an "urgent" matter and they finished with "good luck."  
It's unusual, in that unlike other scammers who call with pre-recorded threats spouting off "official sounding" case numbers, this "firm" uses a real and clumsy sounding guy on the phone.

Of course, I know I have no loans or debts and these tactics are plainly illegal.

I recieved a call today from Ronald Michaels telling me that I needed to call him back because I was in deep trouble for writing a bad check across state lines. I called him back and left a message but haven't heard back. After reading this I won't be giving him any information and I already filed a police report with my local PD and I also filed a claim with the NY better business buearu and the NY attorney generals office. They all advised don't speak with them and let then know they will hear from them. This should stop the calls. We'll see

They said that they were going to sue me for fraud, nonpayment, and breach of contract, because I took out a payday loan that I thought had already been paid and they said that it had not. Unfortunaltely the bank account that I had used to pay it has been closed. So I don't know if it was or not.

The caller states I'm under fraud investigation but doesn't say for what reason. If it is in reference to a payday loans, I filed bankruptcy 4 years ago and my payday loans were filed under chapter 7. I have not had a payday loan since then. I only left a message and I'm waiting to hear back from them. Since reading these posts I will not be calling back. I hope they catch up with this guy.

The gal on the other end of my call said she got my name as a reference for my neice, and wanted to know if I could get ahold of her to give her this 1-800 #. She said she was from an investigating fraud department, and needed to have my neice call her back ASAP before they go any further with their investigation. She gave me a case # and this 800 #. However the number that came up on my caller ID was 716-681-3362 and said it was out of New York. I let my neice know about the call and she said to google the #, so I did and here I am. I hope you catch whoever is doing this, and makes them pay for scaring the living crap out of me. I really thought my neice was in some sort of trouble. God Bless

I receive a call on cue every morning at the same time and the calls do not stop,  all day long between my home phone and work number.  They have threatened and tried to cohearse me into giving them my personal information.  *** DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION***

I have asked on numerous occasions to get a physical address and validity of this so called debt and they are unable to comply.  These companies have rented local phone numbers as well to get you to answer your phones.

I am still waiting to get served and this has been threatened for over 4 months now.  If you request an address and validity of a debt the company has to comply.  If they do not or refuse to comply they are breaking a collection law and you would have suit against them.

I got a call at work (a non-profit organization) from Frank Lewis, and he went on about how he read an article online which one of our members wrote, and he just _loved_ it, and wanted to speak with the author.  Then he asked me if I would give him this person's information.  I told him no, I would not, but I would be more than happy to get his information and forward it on to our member.  He was rather dismayed when I would not give him the information, and it all seemed pretty shady to me, especially when he gave me a "case number."

Pay your Bills is correct advice but there are people out there equally as dead beat in not working honestly for the money they make.  They prey on desparate people who've fallen in bad situations, FOR WHATEVER REASON, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE. It's a stand up thing to want to pay off your debts but beware of who you are sending your money to. Only in a prefect world everyone is honest and is able to pay their bills on time. I also received a phone call (1 800-841-7793) from Mark Duram @ Patrick Corbett Law Offices. Fortunately we settled this debt over a year ago and had the documents to prove it. Ignored all these scumbags calls for two months. (Because what i have read on here!) Well received a summons today in the mail. (i live in Ohio) This sucks. As much as people are saying on here about they are a joke, now i have to miss work to go clear this stupid pay day loan up. Thank goodness they are making pay day loans illegal in Ohio.  This 300 dollar loan is now screwing up everything.  Do not believe everything you read here. They are filing against these stupid loans!

I got a call from them this morning.  I called them back and they said if I don't pay them by the close of bussiness today.....I am getting sued.  They will file the papers with the courthouse today.How can you give someone one day notice!!!!
