are you saying this is not a scam?

I have been receiving calls from "card services" asking whether I'd like to take advantage of the financial stimulus to lower my interest rates at least once or twice weekly for the past several months.   Most of the messages end by saying something like "this offer ends soon."   I finally pressed the number "1" to speak with a live person and asked when the offer will end.   She said: "I don't know.   I've been working here for 6 years and it hasn't ended yet."

Many states, such as mine (Florida), also have a DNC list along with requisite laws to back them up.
Albeit, it may cost $5 or $10 a year to be listed.  If you PAID, you can damn well expect protection.

claimed to be calling from Visa member service to lower my interest rate. I thought it was legitimate until I started reading some posts here. I gave the person I spoke with, a Mr. Dexter Livingston more information than I wish I had.

I am going to contact my credit card issuer and the National Do Not Call registry and hope that I am not now a victim of identity theft.

I actually called this number looking for information on my credit card.  This is the number for VISA customer service so hey are not a scam they are ligit VISA.  It's up to you if you want to give them your info.

They never give up. I sometimes see how long I can keep them on the phone.... trying to find my card, now where did I leave my glasses, etc. My best was 15 mins. One time I did this to a guy with a heavy Russian sounding accent, Ten minutes in, I told him that I was just having fun wasting his time. He blew up, swearing, and cussing. Threatened me and my family....

If everyone would spend just ten minutes wasting their time now and again, their business model would not be viable, and the calls would stop.

got robocall from 800-847-2911 caller ID said " TOLL FREE" on Friday 05-09-14 @ 152 PM

This was the third SCAMMER call from three different numbers today in less than 2 hours.

Then comes the good part after I pressed 1, a female came on the line and asked if I wanted to lower my interest
and I gave her a real "Consumer Reward" by calling her numerous expletives
and then blew the "SCAMMER HORN" multiple times. This SCUMBAG hung up quickly.

Just got a call from 1-800-847-2911at 909AM.  Caller ID said Toll Free Caller.  I didn't answer but a recorded voice left a message offering me "an exciting opportunity" to lower my CC interest rates.  It's the same call I have gotten before, but this is a new number for me.  I will file a complaint with the FCC.

Calls repeatedly and does not leave a message.

I just got a call from "Call Centre Services Visa & Master Card".  He told me that my account was in good standing...... then asked what the expiry date on my card was.  I told him "if you know all about my account you should have that information".  I asked for his information, John Matthew (he didn't sound like a John Matthew) & gave me 800-847-2911.  I told him I would contact Visa and Master Card to confirm if this is legitimate.  I did tell him to remove my name, my number from their list.

Posts with lack of substance are of NO help to anyone. We all know they call every day! If you know who it is,you should include that in the details.

I received a call this morning from "847" no additional numbers showed on the ID.  It was Capital One Mastercard Debit Card, I had used an ATM the previous afternoon and they had questions about my transaction.  So this one was a valid call, from an actual company I do business with, for a good reason.

Said she was from Card member services for MasterCard and Visa and wanted my card number to verify who I am in order to get my interest rate reduced.  

We've been getting phone calls from some direct-marketing pukes for the last several months identifying themselves as "Card Member Services". We don't have caller ID, so when they called today about 12:30PM I decided that I'd get some information.

After I admitted that we had over $10,000 in credit card debt (big lie) and that we were being charged 28% interest (another whopper) on a Master Card (well, small fib anyway) that expired this July (another small fib), I found out that the sleeze that I was talking to was named "Dexter Livingston" (pure BS I'm sure). I explained that our telephone service out here in the sticks was none too reliable (another fib) and asked this doofuss for a number that I could use to call him back in case we were disconnected. Being not exactly the brightest light in the harbor, he gave me his number 1-800-847-2911. I then explained to him that we were on the Federal No Call list and I was going to immediately report him to the FCC (there's a handy on-line form for the purpose), and I hung up.

Here's the weird part. Ten seconds later "Dexter" called back to "remind me that 'they' had my name and home address"... probably not to deliver cookies to. I gave "Dexter" a succinct summary of the Texas Castle Doctrine Law, basically "you come at me and I'll kill you" and hung up again.

I did file a complaint with the FCC, and I also notified the sheriff's department, just in case. Hopefully "Dexter" and his group will get nailed to the wall. I will shoot a note off to Congressman Louis Gohmert who probably doesn't want supporters threatened in an election year so he may just put a bit more pressure on running these folks out of business.

I just received another call from wakefield R I and when i pressed 1 to talk with a rep I told him I would call him back and he gave me the number of 800-847-2911 extension 1034 with his name he said Scott.  He told me that they checked and I had always paid my credit cards on time and I found that odd since I don't have any credit cards.  LOL   Notifying the FCC does nothing because it seems to fall on deaf ears.  I now just play along with these fools or don't answer the phone at all.  They can not lower anyones interest rate anyway because they don't have the authority to do that.  People who have credit cards make the deal with the credit card company themselves and accept the terms from that company.  These are nothing but scammers to find out information to have a field day in hopes they don't get caught.  Don't expect anyone to help you stop these calls because I know myself I have notified the atty general, senators and the fcc many times and nothing is being done.  

I have been called several times over the last year or so.  Each time when I ask who they were and for a call back number they hung up on me.  Today I got the number and promptly filed a complaint with the FCC.

Same-o-same-o.  Wanted to lower my credit card rates, etc etc.  Played along with her until I got some information from her. All the while I was running my fingernail across the microphone of the phone mouth piece; complained about static on the line and that's the call back info she gave me.  
800-847-2911 has a couple of web-sites that are linked to VISA(Europe) land is listed as the number to call for fraud/lost/stolen Visa cards in Europe.  Don't know about the name or ID number.  Think I'll take up my air horn ($1.98 @ WalMart) the next time.

I was called by 678-833-9357(caller ID) and I couldn't understand what the automated message was, so I pressed #1. I then got "John Rosenberg". He said he was from "Card Member Services for Visa & Master Card". I asked what his address is and he gave me 21 Spring Street, Orlando, Florida 30642.  Phone number was 1800847-2911. I called my Master Card company & they said it was a scam, so I had them cancel my card IMMEDIATELY & they did. I went back to my phone call with John Rosenberg and he told me to go to the Better Business Bureau and I did and it show "NO RESULTS". I eventually followed through on what he wanted me to do, which was "GIVE HIM MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER & EXPIRATION DATE. He went to verify it and said it wasn't active, twice he checked.  I assured him it was active, he put me on hold again, then eventually hI was disconnected.  Ha Ha Ha.  That showed me how legit it was.

I got this same phone call and it is obviously a scam. The only card I have that is anything close to a credit card is my debit card from my bank. I have no interest rate on that, so there is no interest rate to be lowering. Just people trying to get your information and use it to their benefit.

I recieved a call for 8002472911 and  I laugh when the person said that they can help me to lower the % in my cc. I just told the person "GO AND GET A JOB".....Please dont believe on this people......

Rachel is back. I called the number and someone answered. Says they are a foreign exchange trading desk.

Either it's a spoofed number or the man that answered knew something was wrong when I asked for Rachel.

Got a recorded sales solicitation from "card services" telling me they can lower credit card interest.  (This was almost the same verbage that "Rachel" (which was shut down) used.  This is a scam.

Got an automated call from this number today from the "audit department" and scary thing is they used my husband's name.  I hung up and called them back and first time disconnected, second time could hardly understand the lady.  She asked for my credit card # and I said no.  She said "they are using the same phone # but it was a scam."  And hasn't been stopped?

We've been getting these constantly lately, and I'm always trying to get to a live person. Sometimes I answer and the call disconnects, but today I got a live person.  The background was very noisy.  I asked what company she represented, she said "All Visa and Mastercard" and tried to launch into her spiel.  I asked if there was a number to call her back on and she said "Don't you have Caller ID?".  I told her that when I tried to call the numbers that came up on caller ID, they went nowhere. She gave me 800-847-2911.  I then asked for her name and she gave me "Rosie Parker".

The number on caller ID today was 360-322-6663 out of Marysville, WA

I have received hundreds of calls from a number 706-805-1778 (Hartwell,GA)  saying they are from cardmember services and want to reduce my interest rate.  When I finally picked up phone and talked to a live person they said they wanted to reduce my interest rate.  Asian woman on phone would not give me her name, a manager's name, or company name only the number 1-800-847-2911. I asked to be removed from list and she refused.  She hung up on me when I told her I was reporting her.

At least once a day I get this recorded phone message about reducing my credit card rate. It's annoying, and it's usually  around dinner time, and sometimes on Saturdays and Sundays. The number is 800-847-2911. ..... Boooooo!
