I've gotten about 5 faxes from these bozos and figured they'd get tired of it. Today I called their 800 number to find out who they are and upon becoming "next in line" to speak to a representative, I was disconnected.

go to the copy center & hit the copy button with the lid up.  Copy the black sheet 50 times and start faxing it back.  Keep loading it up and redial.  It eats all the toner out.  Make sure you hit *67 and a couple of spaces before the 1.866.###.###.####

Industry TipsBack To Top
With the rising cost of health care and prescription drugs, consumers are looking to discount plans for relief. Many of these discount plans claim to offer savings on prescriptions drugs, doctor and dental visits, vision care or other medical services. Advertisements - often found on the Internet, through infomercials or in "spam" e-mail - boast that consumers can save
up to 30 percent or more on the cost for such services.
Generally, the plans indicate there is a network of providers who will discount their charges for plan members.

Consumers who are confused by these plans often believe they are purchasing insurance. Discount plans are not considered health insurance and currently are not regulated in all states. Consumers should review plan materials carefully to be certain the benefits are worth the cost.

The BBB suggests you consider several facts about these plans before making a purchasing decision:

Discount plans are not licensed insurance products, even when sold by insurance agents. Companies selling these products to California consumers are required to be registered with the California Department of Managed Health Care.

The protections and rights available to consumers under health insurance plans may not be available to members of a discount plan.

Providers in the discount plan's "network" are often not bound by contract to participate in the plan and may stop offering the discount at any time (without notice to plan members), depending on the plan.

Many plans claim savings up to a certain percent. However, "up to 40%" does not mean a guaranteed 40% savings.

If you are considering enrolling in a discount plan, ask the following questions:

Is this plan an insurance product in my state?
What is the annual cost of the plan?
What are the benefits?
Do the providers I frequent accept the discount card? Be sure to check with your provider(s) as the information given by the plan could be inaccurate.
If I have a health insurance plan and the discount plan, will providers I use give me discounts on my co-payments or the balance of my bill after my insurance pays its part?
Who do I call if I have a problem with the discount plan?
When receiving services that require immediate payment, is there a way to verify I am actually saving money by having a discount plan?
Can I cancel my membership at any time?

Before doing business with a company offering discount plans, check them out with the BBB (www.bbb.org) and your state Attorney General's office.

The donotcall.gov list DOES NOT cover unwanted faxes as being unlawful.  Please see below...from the Federal Communication Commissions website.  You need to file a compliant with the FCC in order to have this stopped. It is available on their site.

"The national Do-Not-Call list protects home voice or personal wireless phone numbers only. While you may be able to register a business number, your registration will not make telephone solicitations to that number unlawful. Similarly, registering either a home or business fax number will not make sending a fax advertisement to that number unlawful, but the FCC has separate rules that prohibit unsolicited fax advertisements under most circumstances. For more information on the rules for fax advertisements, see our consumer fact sheet at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/unwantedfaxes.html, or visit our Web site at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/policy/faxadvertising.html. ."

Ditto on these f**gots clogging my fax machine. I've started putting an employee to calling them & keeping their sale people tied up as much as possible. It's worth every penny to screw with these spamming t**ts. The following websites may help (I just registered & will know if this works in a month or so) www.donotcall.gov & www.optoutscreen.com & www.privacyrights.org & the websites I managed to get out of one of the sales reps are www.beechstreet.com & www.naaus.org / I am putting these links on as many different link dumps like DIGG.com etc. in an attempt to put some hackers onto these a***oles.

Hey I just got a fax with tha number that is how i found this! The junk fax was for health care. If interested call 800-849-0915. So i called like normal and used my great tactics and got them to give me their fax number. Write this down guys! Fax the heck out of them!! 1-866-638-8552. It wont cost a dime to fax them in the USA. That is a toll free number like 800

FAX THEM DARK COLOR SHEETS OF PAPER!! MANY AT A TIME! THAT GETS TO THEM! AND OF COURSE IT BLOWS UP THEIR TONER!

In the past I have had them get so mad that they call me back! It is the most satisfaction you will ever get for getting bothered by things like this you dont want.

I got called 4 times, all around 7am!!!  This pisses me off for so many reasons I dont even know where to begin.  I can turn my fax machine off and then I dont get the incoming faxes but my phone still rings at obnoxious hours (baby and 3 yr old sleeping) and that makes me IRRATE.  I wish I had some good advice for people here but I am just here to vent and add the time stamp to the phone calls I am getting.  Anyone else getting them at 6 and 7 am?  My dad's a lawyer and I've forwarded this information to him to see what can be done from a legal point of view.  What total dirtbags.

Got a fax from the same a-holes.  Unfortunately, nothing you do will really stop them.  Calling the Fax Removal Line only verifies your fax number, meaning they know it's a legitimate fax number and will continue to use it.  Reporting them to the authorities doesn't do much.  They're layered with so many corporate shells, that by the time authorities catch up with them, they've reincorporated under another name.  Getting a judgment against them is easy.....collecting is not.  see www.junkfax.org.  The best method is to get a caller ID box that can block faxes from companies that do not allow their fax numbers to come through.  Most junk faxes do not allow their number to come through.  I've had good success; although every once in a while a fax makes it through.  Still, I've gone from 7-10 faxes per week to one a month.

More info on these jerks. The company that handles and re-routes calls is Level 3 and is apparently a subsidiary of Broadwing Communications, llc. Web site is http://level3.com/customer_center/toll_free_support/index.html

these jerks are contracting with the actual spam sender in order to not get caught they provide the 800 numbers and then route the calls to the spam sender.

I think they use a search number of 213-291-1900 to establish that your phone # receives faxes.

Want to nail these turkeys?

The only way to REALLY make this effective is to break their business model. Here's how:

1) Collect e-mail addresses from all the people who want you to help them smuggle crates of money out of Nigeria. Don't answer them, just write them down.

2) Go to www.anonymouse.org, find the link on sending anonymous e-mail (third line from top, on left side). This will send an UNTRACKABLE e-mail.

3) Send an e-mail to the Nigerian scammer saying you really, really want to help him, please call at once, ask for "George" and keep trying, it is really urgent, if I slam the phone down it is because my boss is listening, so please, please call back, and also send FULL information to my fax number at (whatever) and you need to send it at least three times because sometimes our fax doesn't work quite properly. Explain that answering back to the e-mail return address won't work because it was sent from your job and it is a one-way unmonitored e-mail so you have to use the phone and fax numbers I sent and I really do need to talk to you because I do want to help you so badly blah blah blah. Use your imagination.

4) Repeat as necessary, adding new junk faxer's information as it arrives to your Nigerian "contact" list as they arrive. Let the morons talk to the morons and pay for the privilege of doing so.

After a while, the junk faxers will realize that every time single they send out one of their garbage faxes they are going to get INUNDATED by zillions of Nigerian scammers totally swamping their response lines (and all they can do is hang up and hang up and hang up), and eventually they will have to find a non-fax method of advertising.

If you really want to be nasty, buy stock in the phone company and make some money on these dirtballs as you put them out of business.

Received a FAX on 10/17/07 advertising "Low Cost Quality Association Heatlh (sic) Plan Coverage for the Individual and the Entire Family."  Phone number given to call was 800-849-0915.  Called that number and received a recorded message identifying the organization as "Association Health Care."  Was asked to leave name, number, and message and they would return my call.  The FAX indicated that "You are receiving this fax because of recent inquiry made regarding health plans." (Untrue)  FAX also gave opt-out number of 866-370-4572 "If you no longer wish to receive future information regarding low cost health care..."

I usually do the same thing. You gotta luv these crooks. They were willing to insure me at age 90 in urgent need of a kidney transplant, been on waiting list 2 years should get one any day now. Major drug problems and currently uninsured. --all info by me was bogus but they would insure and include any prexisiting conditions within 15 days.

Oh I usually use several black sheets and run them thru about 50 times!

Somebody pull the plug on these jerks.

I also received this fax and it isn't the first time. I want to thank the others who posted with information concerning this "junk" fax. Without it, I probably would have thought it legitimate.

Thanks Again..I also am going to submit this to the FCC per "InsuranceRecruiter's" recommendations.

Got junk fax. Called fax removal number, half of the message is in French. I have called many other fax removal numbers and received this same half-French message.

I called their number and they answered "Association Health Care".

The FCC has spam fax reporting options on their website. I always forward this crap to them.

It now appears that Beechstreet may be a victim and not a junk faxer.  It is possible that the "National Alliance" as they called themselves, claims to be connected to Beechstreet but in fact may not be.  Not sure.

I called this number in response to their junk fax and someone named Janet who said she was in Nevada said I could look of the benifits of their Medical Health Benifits at www.beechstreet.com.  It is unusual that you can find the name of a ligitimate company through one of these junk faxers. I am not sure, but it is possible that Beechsteet may be liable to pay each recipient $500 if the solicitation is on their behalf.

Here's what I did when I got TWO separate faxes from them the same night:  I called their toll-free number and "requested" they remove my number.  Then I took my widest magic marker and wrote in large letters all over them "please remove (my number) from your calling list".
Then I searched meridian marketing's website and found their corporate fax machine number (1-561-853-2133) and I faxed both fliers back to them.  Let's see how they feel about losing some of their printer ink for a change!
