I also got a call from David and his adjuster Joe Walker making threats to me and calling me at MY WORK. Which is illegal to have any credit/collecting agency to call you at your work attempting to collect a 15 year repo which is no longer in my possession.  I am new to this and I do not know what actions need to be taken to settle this long term issue. If anyone has any number that I can call to report this please send me an email.  This guy was also asking millions of personal questions which is unheard of.

I filed as well with the PA offices against this company for my father who is disabled and I took care of his debt for him back in July 08' a new company is now claiming to have purchased the loan with no records of the payment I paid on his behalf, thank god I have the cancelled checks still and hopefully something will be done about these clearly fraudulent individuals...

Repeated harassing calls from an assistant to Thomas Landis Attorney asking if I had an account with a car company I've never done business with.  Wondering if this is a scam.

I have received several calls from the office of Thomas Landis, Esquire on my phone. They always advise that either I, or my wife, (they use her maiden name) needs to call them. They leave the 800 number and extension 159.
I mentioned it to my wife and she advised that she had received a letter in the mail from the some Thomas Landis law firm about some old account that she still owed on from several years ago. (This was not the case, but she thought it was odd that she would get a letter about an account from several years back, and wasn't sure if she actually even had an account with the company mentioned). I told my wife about researching the 800 number on the internet and getting this site popping up.
I returned the calls after reading all of these posts about them. As soon as I call, they immediately put me on hold before I am able to speak. I initially speak to some male that doesn't identify himself. He asks how he can help me. I asked him why someone from this 800 number is calling and leaving messages on my phone? He asked me if I am (he then gives my wifes first name and maiden last name)? I responded, do I sound like (my wife's name)? He hung up on me.
I called back, again to be put on hold. Ended up with the same guy again. I asked him why he hung up on me? He advised he is very busy and doesn't have time for games. I advised him I don't know who I am speaking to, who he represents, or even why they are calling, and would like to know if anyone is going to advise me. He responded that his name was, (Admittedly, I don't remember). He then advised that he was with the Thomas Landris law firm. I asked him if this is the same firm that has been penalized by the state bar association for illegal practices? He hung up on me again. (OK, now I am determined, cause I have them on the run).
I called again, again was put on hold, (cause we all know how busy they are...) This time I got some woman, (don't know her name). She asked how she can help me. I advised I am still trying to find out why these folks are calling my phone, and what it is that they want. She asked who I was. I advised that they already have my phone number, and it is obviously linked to some file that they have. She said she still needs to know who I am speaking to. I gave her my name. The woman advised that my number had been given to them in an effort to reach some one by the name of (My wife's first name and maiden name). The woman then asked if this was my wife? I said no. The woman then suggested that they knew this is my wife and I am just not being honest with her. I advised her that was not the case, and I still don't know why they are calling my phone. The woman advised that I am being argumentaive and that I am not being honest with her. I advised that is not the case. I then advised that I am not the one that has been penalized by the state bar association. She then hung up.
I am now waiting to see if they call again.

Sucks when you get nailed by a consumer that is on to your scam, huh?

I am calling my state attorney general's office today.

A Williams James just called asking for a person. He stated that he worked for the law office of Thomas Landis. He asked for someone but was really looking for that persons husband. So why didn't he ask for the person he was looking for? I took a message with the 1-800- 53-4000 number and a reference number. I am glad that i looked this law office up and found this website. It would be interesting to know how they get all of your person informaiton and then some.

Have received several calls from this number asking for Robert Septson(??) who may have had the cell number prior to myself.  Have requested that I be removed from their call list several times.  Informed the caller that I would be taking them to small claims court if they called again.  She hung up before giving me requested info--her name and the name of the ocmpany that she represented.

I received a phone call on 09/08/09 from this number. I was grocery shopping, I returned the call. The gentleman that answered would not give me his name and hung up on me when I told him that I just missed his call. I called back and apologized for the dropped call. This person became verbally abusive, before I could ask for a supervisor he hung up on me again. I waited to after hours, about 10pm to see if could obtain a voicemail box where I could leave a message for a supervisor to call me back. The voicemail said I have reached the Law Offices of Steve Landis. Im inclined to contact the California State Bar and give them my concerns about the verbal threats and abuse. No attorney office should respond to the public in that demenor, on the contrary when they receive an incoming call, the person calling is probably trying to resolve this matter right away.

I received a call on Friday September 4, 2009 from someone from the Law Offices of Thomas Landry. They spoke of an outstanding debt I have with Chase saying they would like to settle it. I told them to call back because I was at work. They finally called back today Tuesday September 8, 2009, but I didn't answer because it was 8:30 at night. I think I will play with these guys a little but and see what they want me to do. See how far they actually go with this. Thank you all for your input on this number...I am so glad they created google.

I have received several calls from this number and always let it go to voicemail as the number is unknown to me.

The first time I returned the call, without proving any information, I managed to get some from them.  I was told by the "legal assistant" I was calling Atty Donald Burak.  The next time I called it was the office of Thomas Landis.

I looked them both up on the Pennsylvania Bar Association's web site and found that a Thomas G Landis has a criminal conviction and his license to practice was suspended in 1997.  He has since been reinstated. Donald Burak was recently disbarred.

I don't know what game they are trying to play but BEWARE.

Received this call August 12, 2009 at 12:26pm on my voice mail. I called them back Saturday Aug 15, 2009 at 0930am. I spoke with a female and I asked why they called.  I was told they wanted to talk to Hortense, they couldn't pronounce her name.  Hortense is my mother who is 84 years old. They didn't want to speak with me, they asked for her telephone.  I did not give it to them.

recieved a call from this office. The first person was very nice and then transferred me to a supervisor who wanted my husband's social sec. # and other personal info. I explained that I had no income, was waiting to be approved for disability and would forward proof of that and did intend on paying the debt. she proceeded with scare tactics and other rude comments trying to get further personal info. Needless to say these are vultures who will do anything to accomplish their goal. BEWARE!!!!!

I received a call from the 1-800-853-4000 number about an old debt that is close to 12 years old now- they said they were from the law offices   and that I needed to make payments regarding my account which is past due. I told them I am sorry that I am on a tight budget and they are not currently on it. They said they were in the process of filing papers to take over my home if I did not agree to pay them -- I told them since I live in Texas they can not legally take my home away for payment --they had to check the laws-- this company is only trying to find a way to get money from people on old debts and they are a scum company I dont answer calls if I do not know who they are from I have since flagged this number as a collection agency and will not answer it anymore

Woman called today and made false claims regarding an account that has been closed for 13 years. This is not the first time they've called, nor the first time they have been deceptive on the phone. If you do a search for "Attorney Tom Landis" on the web, you will find that these people have numerous judgments against them for their illegal debt collection practices. File a complaint with the Attorney General's Office in PA if they do the same to you.

I got a call from them today, too, for a debt that isn't mine.

Some advice to the rest of you: don't bother complaining to the attorney general in PA.  What you want to do is contact the Pennsylvania Bar Association.  They license attorneys and you can lodge a formal, written complaint against him.  If your complaint is successful, he can be reprimanded, suspended or even disbarred from the practice of law.  The AG doesn't care, but the Bar HAS to investigate EVERY complaint.  Further, he will be contacted by the Bar and forced to go through a formal procedure for EVERY complaint.

If you receive a threat, complain to the Bar that he is practicing law outside of PA - the state that he is licensed to practice in.  Practicing law in a state you are not licensed to practice in is a serious offense and can get an attorney disbarred.

Also, you should file a complaint against him in the state you live in.  If you live in New York, for example, contact the New York State Bar and file a complaint saying that he is engaged in the unauthorized practice of law in New York.  Again, they have to investigate and can take action that the Pennsylvania Bar must follow.

Please, everyone reading this, go file a Bar complaint.  This is the only way to stop these people.  It is completely legal and within your rights to file a formal Bar complaint.  Not many people know about this, but all it will take is one successful complaint to put an end to this.

I received two phone calls from Eve Jones from the law office of Thomas Landis saying that I owed over 1,000 to a credit card that I never even heard of going back to 1987.  After taking her information and talking to my husband we figured it was some kind of mistake and never called back. She left us a nasty message yesterday demanding that we call and make a "deal" to pay at least 1/2 the money to prevent it going to collection!!!  Who are these people?????
