Received exactly the same call from "On Process Technology on behalf of Comcast" , and we had exactly same situation--had returned equipment end of November 2013 to a service center, had a receipt, and Comcast records show all equipment returned.  Called On process who said they would update their records.  Then called Comcast, who confirmed, again that all equipment had been returned in November and they said they would contact their supervisor to contact On Process

I currently work for OPT. Heres what it all boils down to you cancel your services or get them disconnected for non pay COMCAST gives us your information and we then call you. If you were all responsible enough to get this done in a timely manner then we wouldnt call. And for the record we NEVER call before 7 especially on the weekends as we are open mon-fri 8am and sat-sun 10am. So be more responsible and you wont get these calls thank you and have a great day!

800-869-7808  also called me and stated they were calling for comcast about non-returned equipment. I have returned it, so I suggested she speak with her billing office. She said they were not part of comcast, but rather a company asked to follow up re: equipment. they wanted documentation of its return. Since they call me at work, I told them I didn't have it with me. they have now called twice, both times during the day.

Tell the caller you will contact the Feds the next time your receive their bogus call and advise the feds to investigate both OnProcess Tech and Comcast.  There has to be an account connection between the two sources and the connection is troubling especially since Comcast wants to come into homes through the TV as "Security" for residents.  I think what is going on abrogates a number of FCC rules/regs.

Have been receiving this scam phone call for over 2 months.  Initially called Comcast and confirmed we owe no equipment charge.  Called back the bogus 800 number today to listen to their process.  They do know the phone number calling them.  Their knowledge of the address attached to the phone number is not correct except for the first 3 numbers of the address.  When a gentleman came on the line I explained we did not have any Comcast Eqpt.  He then asked for my e-mail number.  I replied that if I received another call from this source I would contact the Feds.  I would also ask the Feds to look into Comcast since this bogus call was reported months ago to Comcast.  Who knows what the connection really is!

I agree - it would be a nice service to just have a friendly "by the way, are you aware comcast shows you as having one of their boxes. You have to turn it in by ____ or they will charge you <fill in exact amount> if you don't. Would you like me to look up your nearest return facility."

The script I actually got "You still have a digital converter. If you don't turn it in, you will owe comcast $500. I will call you again in 10 days if you haven't settled up your account"
"500 dollars seems likes a lot of small plastic box"
"If you read your contract, you would see that comcast charges $500 for any missing electronics. You agreed to that"
"The contract doesn't say any such thing, I was told I only owed $40 if I couldn't find it."
"Did you loose it?"
"I'm in the process of moving, it's in a box, we're unpacking"

The thing is - I didn't owe $500, I did read, and then re-read my contract. The nature of the call, the attempt to make it sound like collections to get your attention caused panic and lots of wasted time. While it may not be a scam, it is an irresponsible company that comcast should ditch immediately.

On Process is an Asset Collection company.
They called me on behalf of comcast because I have not returned one of my digital converters when I canceled the service, and would owe 500 dollars (not could, but WOULD) if I did not turn it in. I got very upset at this point.

I asked to not be contacted again, and asked to be transferred to Comcast.
A very helpful rep at Comcast confirmed that I only owed 40 dollars for the converter, and they actually owed me 80 from prorating my last month. They will deduct the 40 from the 80 if I don't turn it in in 2 to 3 months.
So, I called back OnProcess - and, in a painful and long conversation with OnProcess I learned the following:
They are not a collections company, but just call on behalf of comcast.
If you don't pay, Comcast deals with the bad debt (most likely sending it to an actual collections company).
They are not supposed to say you owe 500, but that you could owe 500.

If anyone from Comcast is reading this, you really need to get rid of OnProcess. I wasted over an hour today on a non-issue. I don't even owe Comcast any money, its a matter of what they owe me. Judging by this forum, being told you owe 500 (the maximum amount comcast can claim based on its contract) is standard practice, and causes a lot of undo stress. $40 is already an ridiculous amount of money for one of those digital converters. OnProcess, in short, is just causing confusion.

If you are in a similar situation, refuse to discuss your account with them, ask them not to contact you, and settle your issue with Comcast directly.

IT IS NOT A SCAM.   I upgraded my Internet  and Comcast sent a new modem.  I kept not having time to send back the old modem and router.  This # called me for a couple of weeks .  I finally called the number back.  First it explained they were contracted by Comcast and that they would search their files for the account associated with the number I was calling from.  Then the recording told me their search showed I had not returned equipment.  Then they had an automated menu of  questions with choices and by pushing the indicated keypad numbers I was able to let them know that  I had returned the equipment yesterday, using the prepaid UPS labels  and boxes they had previously sent me.  The recording thanked me for the update and thanked me for returning the equipment.   I probably would have put this off even longer if the calls had not kept reminding me !

Oh, where do I begin.... I also used to work there as well. Let's just say call center jobs are NOT my cup of tea. I'd figured I'd try it out, because I was tired of working in retail and wanted something different. Oh, I got different alright. I mean it's an alright job, but I just got terrible/moody customers all the time. OPT works alongside major cable & phone companies and literally harasses the sh*t out of customers. Follow up calls, if they hang up call back, etc etc. Not to mention they literally monitor your every move. Every second your not on the phones they need to know why... I feel bad for the customers that get called a lot, they need a better organized system. I'm glad I got out of there when I did.

I too used to work there and its absolutely ridiculous the type of calls that we had to make. In a specific program u have to call a customer not once not twice but THREE times and ask if they r interested in "upgrading". They have to say " not interested" 3 times for the calls to stop. Alot of customers say no and hang up and we have to call them again and ive personally heard customers completely freak out. Its an ok place to work but management sucks. They watch ur every move if you mess up once ur out the door. Doesn't give you a chance to explain yourself. They can keep that job. Im so glad i got out of it.

I don't have Comcast anymore as we switched to another cable provider months ago.  Not only has Comcast confirmed that we returned their equipment, but we long ago received a refund check for what they owed us.  Comcast is not willing to help us get off the list as they deny having anything to do with this company and refuse to contact them on our behalf.  Who can help make the calls stop?

Actually if you had any idea how a logistics company works than you would know that onprocess is a equipment logistics company that has nothing to do with billing. They absolutly have no power over your actual comcast records. Everyday they recieve a file from Comcast giving the names and numbers of people to call and thats were they get your number from comcast directly and they have nothing to do with billing.

I also received an harassing  call     from OPT. I am 84 with the beginnings of dementia and it scared me to death. I called my estranged husband in Fl (I livein MD) and he got in touch with them and told them in no certain words to never, ever call again or he would own OPT through his attorneys. He called Comcast and verified all equipment was returned over three months ago. Who are these people and why does the FCC let them continue?

Received a call from 971-230-2721 politely requesting I call 800-869-7808 about my unreturned comcast equipment. I am a comcast customer and had just moved. However I have owned my own cable modem for over 10 years AND the first request to return equipment came BEFORE I contacted Comcast to transfer service to the new address. I assume OPT is trolling title transfers of homes looking for people moving into new homes. I spoke with Comcast and was told I had no outstanding equipment and to ignore the calls as they were scams.

The posts on this page in support of OPT notwithstanding I don't care who they are or what their mission supposedly is or whether or not they have been contracted by Comcast. Bottom line is they requested I return equipment before Comcast even knew I had moved.

OPT, is an outsourced company, works as an asset retrieval company on behalf of companies like comcast, basically they are the middlemen getting updated info back to comcast, as there are so many disconnections or transfers on a daily basis in all states and your account status can be lost in the system. If you do not want to divulge your number just press the # continuously until someone answers. They will need the number they called you on in order to pull up the account. There are scenarios where the account pulled up is not associated with you and that's because the previous customer either was assigned your number or gave a bogus number when they opened the account. They do not ask you for money or bank information. All they tell you is if you have unused equipment you should return it to avoid being charged. How can that possibly be a scam? Be realistic people. 1 of 100 people may have already returned the equipment but the other 99 are happy to have that call reminding them to do so. If the call is ignored the account can go to collections. And NO ONE wants that.

Got a call from 971-230-2721. It was an automated message from somebody called Kandace on behalf of Comcast saying that we need to return Comcast equipment asap to avoid additional charges. She gave 1-800-869-7808 as a call-back number.
Won't be calling back, there is no Comcast account associated with my number.

Received a text from "32592" with the message "FREEMSG: Please retur unused equip to Comcast ASAP. If you need assist returning the equip or have questions please call 1-800-869-7808. To opt-out reply STOP"

I called the number, as I did terminate my service months ago, and a very foreign-sounding man kept insisting they had no record of my returning it. I explained that I returned it, had a receipt, and had gotten my final bill and paid it. They said they'd put my 'claim' in the record.

I called Comcast immediately after who assured me that my account was 100% closed out, paid in full, and that all of my equipment had been returned. Totally bizarre...

I have received at least four phone calls saying, "You have equipment belonging to Comcast and you will be charged for it if you do not return it."  I never had any Comcast equipment.  My son had a Comcast account in his name.  He is no longer at the address associated with the alleged account.  I gave them the phone number that was allegedly associated with the account, which was that for a cell phone belonging to someone else.  They asked me what was the phone number at which I had received the call.  I gave them my phone number. They said, "Sorry, that number is on record as associated with the account."   DUH ............  If it is not associated with the account, how did they get my number and why are they calling me?

I called Comcast and they said that they knew nothing abour any equipment or who had made the calls.

It was impossible to talk to anyone or leave any kind of message.  They said they would call back, but I doubt it will be any different than the others.

"Candace" left a message on my answering machine, saying she was calling "on behalf of" Comcast.  She said that her records showed I may have recently discontinued or transferred Comcast service and might still have equipment from Comcast that needed to be returned.  (To the best of my knowledge, I've never had Comcast service.)  She wanted me to look up equipment return locations at www.comcast.com, or to call this 1-800 number and leave the phone number I received this call on.  If the call was a mistake and I didn't have equipment to return, she wanted me to call the 1-800 number and tell them that.  I don't intend to call; if this is even a legitimate call, it means they have screwed up their records so badly that they are misidentifying people who've never been their customers with people who owe them stuff and need to cough up, and they feel I should do unpaid work to fix their screwed-up records.  No thanks.

800 8697808 called and alluded to having some connection with comcast.  after trying to figure them out, i asked why they needed my account info. if they in fact were related to comcast and they hung up.  have recd many more calls but refuse to answer so called comcast directly.  no probs. about equip return nor probs. on collection etc.  they said to ignore the calls but i will re-call comcast if the spam calls don't stop because someone gave this company our name, phone # and our connection to comast.
be sure to contact comcast directly because their record keeping is so poor you need to be sure there have been no errors.
