This is a legitimate US Bank number. They just called me to follow up on a personal bank account I opened from the US Bank website.
Your ranting comments are not helpful. Perhaps the phone number before you got it, was somebody else's who had a US Bank account. My mother still receives calls for somebody else that apparently owes a lot of money and has lots of unpaid bills, and she has had that AT&T number for... 5 years now?
How about instead of wasting your time posting pissed off comments on some random website, you call up US Bank and explain to them you do not have an account, you don't know who they are, and that you'd like them to stop calling you because you have a prepaid phone and you can't afford them wasting your minutes. If whoever picks up doesn't want to help, call back and you'll probably get somebody else. Do that until you find somebody that cares, or talk to a supervisor. But you are providing misleading information, and wasting space on this website that contains useful information to keep other people protected from scams.

That advice is all fine and good -- IF the phone/account was under a contract; has a "data" plan, etc. that APPS can be used on.  This is a cheap, pay-as-you go/add minutes to phone.  I don't have a sophisticated data plan (don't need one); not a SmartPhone (not everyone can afford one); etc.  I have added the number to the "Do Not Call" government listing -- but still get calls and because it is a pay-as-u go type; they use up the minutes that I PAY for -- which is both annoying and expensive.  I am on a very limited budget and don't need these "robo" calls!

2nd call -- I just bought a pay-as-u go phone because I only use the phone for emergencies only.  I DO NOT have any accounts with USBANK; plus this is a new cell phone - bought within the last month; new number; and I have NOT given it out to ANYONE, except for my immediate family - husband and kids for emergency contact ONLY.  STOP THESE CALLS, PLEASE!

Your "new" number is somebody else's old number.

There is really no reason to get repeated calls from obnoxious callers.
Simply get a phone number blocking service, app or device.

Funny, I received the same call and fraudulent warning about a credit card. I have no accounts with US Bank.
I never answered the phone. Voice mail sounded pretty scripted.

The caller is US Bank, responding to an email I actually sent regarding a missing deposit. The caller stated that she believed the problem has been corrected. I checked online, and it has been, so this call is not a scam.

I just got a call from them (at 8am sharp) asking for my sister. They asked if I knew anyone with that name. I said no. Then the guy asked if I was lying to him, at which point I asked who what company was calling from and he said he was not able to disclose that information. So I hung up...

It's not US Bank. And my call was from a real person, not a machine. My sister has never used US Bank.

I got the exact same email on April 3 as well -- and I don't even have a U.S. Bank credit card.   I am so
tired of all this fraud that goes on.   I just dealt with another fraud issue with Bank of America.   Who and
what can we trust these days.

Additional comment:

This phone number is listed on the US Bank Security Alert page.  HOWEVER, the Internet link provided in the bogus email (http://www.usbank.com/cgi_w/cfm/about/online_security/online_fraud.cfm) DOES NOT correspond to the US Bank Internet addresses.  All of the US Bank addresses were on a secured site with - https://www4.usbank.com - as the prefix.  Note that the real US Bank addresses all have the 4 after www.

I received an e-mail supposedly coming U.S. Bank giving me some nonsense about my e-mail address.

Inside that e-mail, they are now bold enough to list a phone number to call (800-872-2657 as customer service.  Just so happens I have a credit card with U.S. Bank and there is no such number listed on their documents.    They are really getting bold with providing fake phone number now. !!

Some of you are brave to follow their instructions and push 1. How do you know that you're not actually pressing 1 to accept charges on an expensive call or something and then these scammers try to keep you talking?

I'm not willing to risk it. I've received 3 calls from them 2 of them from the number reported here and another from 317-831-8521. In all cases when I've answered the phone it was an automated message that seemed to have the first part missing. All I got was "Press 1 to accept or press 2 for voice mail" so I've just hung up in each instance.

Actually I've only answered 1 time the other 2 were messages left on my machine or voice mail but the message was the same as I described above.

Those of you who have actually pressed 1 and talked I'd like for you to post a message back when you get your next phone bill and see if there are any rogue charges.

Two calls, No message
I never answer 'toll-free' callers.  When long distance is almost free, why bother with a caller that's hiding with a 'toll-free' ID?
