Apology accepted.  I actually have a brother who works in collections and provides for his kids that way.  I would characterize him as an "accounts receivable professional".  He does not engage in any of the aberrant behavior we see reported on this forum.  The reason I "wandered" in here is that approximately two years ago I switched cell carriers and got a new number.  Ironically, the number I was assigned belongs to a deceased man who took his own life in 2007 (I know the story inasmuch as he was a local contractor who had done some work on my home in 2005).

I have received many calls from collectors looking for this man.  I am pleased to report that most seemed stand up and accepted the information I provided them (one woman even cried when she heard the story).  On the other hand, two companies just won't go away.  They refuse to stop calling the number, I have accused me of "lying", claimed to be law enforcement, have arrest warrants etc.  A google search of the numbers they are using brought me here and folks from these "sewer server" firms were even shilling on the threads I found.

In terms of "debtors", I am sure they are like "collectors".  It is a difficult to paint them with a broad brush.  Some may be trying to duck their debts and play games, but I personally know a ton of folks who have fallen on hard times with this terrible economy and have never been late on a payment for anything in their lives (and toss things like divorce and medical hardships on top of that).

Did you know that I am not buying a word of your post.
Did you know I have received calls from collection agencies seeking people I have never heard of.
Did you know that  I have been forced to change my number more than once because of unwarranted calls.

I will say that I sincerely apologize to any and all whom I have offended with my personal thoughts and opinions. I would never discount or discredit those who have been effected by an abusive company or person. I never meant to harm or offend anyone. I hope this will ease your minds, though I am aware it cannot be taken back. Again, I sincerely apologize to all. Also, thank you for opening my eyes to truths I can honestly say I was not aware of. I take it to heart and have revised my own feelings in regards to this. Thank you again for your honesty. I have learned something from this.

} all those "horror" stories people tell about their dealings with debt collectors are inaccurate

Spoken like a lobbyist from ACA International. I guess that means Bart Bryant, Tammy Henshaw, Diana Mey, and Loida Ripdos all had friends who were experts in telephony and audio engineering to help them falsify recordings of vile phone contact with their various would-be debt collectors in the past few years.

Before you mewl, "I don't recognize those people", here's the refresher:

Bryant: Was told by his wife's pursuers "We know your father has been molesting you. Why don?t you have him take his c-ck out of your a-- and stick it in your mouth? You know you like it. Why don?t you have your wife come over here and give us b*** j**s? You?re a loser. Why don?t you jump in front of a train and kill yourself?"

Henshaw: Was called "white trash" and a "deadbeat piece of crap", was warned her daughter's body would be exhumed and hung from a tree, was told that the family dog would be seized and collectors would "shoot 'im up and eat him", was told to expect a sheriff to arrest her at home, and finally was given a death threat: "Are you going to pay this bill or not, or am I going to have to kill you?"

Mey: Was greeted by her collector with "I'm trying to reach Diana the c-nt". The genitalia term was carefully repeated twice more, as the rep wanted to be "sure that [she likes] being gang-banged". This was among a series of calls which spoofed the Caller ID of the local sheriff.

Ripdos: Was told by a debt collector that he was "the stage before the attorney's office" who had already "sent it for legal action to be continued against" her. When asked if he was an attorney, she heard, "I'm the guy who's going to end your life". The man insisted over her protest that he had "every right to tell [her] that".

No, those collection bullies were not provoked by nasty "deadbeats running from problems". Only the agency reps were hostile and out of control while their targets remained civil. Ripdos and Mey *DID NOT OWE* what their respective thugs claimed, as the alleged debts were *not theirs*. Henshaw, unable to meet modest funeral expenses, was still grieving and vulnerable, her daughter having just ended a short lifetime of costly illness in heart failure. Bryant was not the alleged debtor, just the guy chosen to take collateral insult damage. He was also nobody's fool, having once been a legally compliant collector himself.

You want to play the Moral Relativity card? Please do find us *documented* examples of how "debt collectors get abused worse" than any one of the above victims. I had the unfair advantage of having memorized those names. I'll be charitable and give you ten days for your salvo. See you on 08 November.

Holy crapballs, Batman. It's a literate shill !

Unfortunately, though he be literate, he can't seem to tell fact from fiction. The truth is, jerkface debt collectors do exist, and the vast majority of people DO pay their bills. The truth is, in many cases, after 90 days, hospitals send accounts to collections whether you were paying on them or not. Dispute this with me,  I dare you.....but be forewarned that I have a large number of family members who work in the medical field.

ROFL.. nice story there!  But you have not proven anything, not a single one of your accusations.  Please prove anyone here owes anything and/or is not paying their bills/debts.

And yes, not all debt collectors are bad, but the ones who are outweigh the good, especially the extortion scamming so called debt collectors. Deny they exist all you want, but the horror story's stand!  It is you that needs to get your head out of the proverbial clouds..

Once again, where's the proof?

--->Oh, and debt collectors and hear through every single one of your pathetic lies, so be honest, it would go over for you much better .<---

Really? You must have a Chrystal ball and be in the same room there.. ROFLMAO!  Nice story that, but epic fail..

Wow, do you realize that everything you just typed is complete bovine manure.  You just made a vast array of allegations that you can't possibly back up?

1. "The reason those people tell those lies is to make themselves feel better about how badly they behaved and refusal to pay their bills."
Evidence please! Can you read minds?  Which of the behavioral sciences do you have an advanced degree in? (don't think you'd be manning the phones in the boiler room if you did)

2. "I pay my bills so why shouldn't you? "
Can you prove that?  Why should we believe you?  And if that is true, so what, big deal.  Folks around here pay their bills, yet we don't boast about it like it is some big deal.  Do you want an award or something?

3. "Truth is, all those "horror" stories people tell about their dealings with debt collectors are inaccurate and mostly just outright lies."
Again, prove it.  Many of us would be glad to provide you with links to dozens of cases of illegal threats and abuse done by collectors

You are just another boiler room shill, with diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the mind.

Also, you aren't very smart if you think you would get away with this stunt here.  You are about to get OWNED.

Debt Collector
Debt collectors get abused worse than the consumer in most cases. I used to work for a collection agency years ago and the consumer doesn't get cussed out or yelled at, and if they did then they are complete morons for not getting an attorney involved to fle suit. The reason those people tell those lies is to make themselves feel better about how badly they behaved and refusal to pay their bills. I pay my bills so why shouldn't you? If you consume a service, for crying out loud pay for it! Nothing is free, yet everyone thinks they are entitled. Truth is, all those "horror" stories people tell about their dealings with debt collectors are inaccurate and mostly just outright lies. If you make the effort to work with them, they are more than willing to work with you. Grow up people and be responsible. Stop ducking out and making costs go up for the rest of us because the supplier's can't recover monies due to them. What a bunch of lazy slackers some people are. Oh, and debt collectors and hear through every single one of your pathetic lies, so be honest, it would go over for you much better :) oh, one more note, they don't WANT to waste their time barking up the wrong tree so if it truely is a wrong number, they are more than happy to remove it. Just got off the phone with them and I'm glad I called so she won't waste her time and I don't have to keep dealing with phone calls.

Apparently this company is called Chapman Finances.  I believe they are debt collectors, collecting for a debt for a laboratory test.  Its very strange they dont leave their name on the message and just leave just their number.  They are calling for my son who hasnt livd in this house for 6 years and the number they are calling on is an old number that we never use anymore.  My son called them and ask them to send him the bill so he can view it.

Twice a day everyday for the past three weeks and two days... very annoying... I work and turn my phone on vibrate now when they call cause I am ASLEEP or spending an evening with family before going home!
They need to get their "stuff" together!

You would think that after 5 months of no response to their calls they would get a clue, but no, they just keep calling and leaving messages on my voice mail. Voice mail says right up front who the number belongs to, and it is not who they are looking for. This outfit is just plain lazy. They do not put any real effort into actually trying to find the debtor, they just repeatedly call the phone number listed on the debt form, and probably expect whoever has that number to tell them where to find the debtor.

Debt Collector
This is Chapman Financial, a debt collection company out of Spokane. Alot of times they take debts from PacLab, and other medical Lab companies. The people are actually really nice, and seemed to work pretty well about a payment plan. Just call them back and they will let you know what account it is. Belive me, working with them is much better than being sued.

I have received countless calls and even a text from this number but no voice messages.  I am a young college student with no current debts and have had this phone number for a year now so I am very confused and frustrated with the whole situation.
