called me at work almost got me fired

Looked this company up on the Better Business Bureau website and found that they have almost 300 complaints in the last 3 years about their calling practices.  I also found the following contact information:

I have contacted them via email, customer service message and fax.  We shall see how this plays out.

This is the second time I got a call from them. When I made the call back they actually answered this time, but they wouldn't tell me what they collect for and wanted my name and number. I didn't think this would be a problem, because they obviously had my number having called it, and they used my name in the message, so I told them. After telling them I immediately heard the person on the other side say "Hello?" and hang up, so...now I feel like that was a bad idea.
Caller ID was "419"

When I call them I just get a voice mail, and when it say "voice mail of" the name of the company is just all jumbled. I'm not taking a time to leave them a message if they won't even answer their calls DURING THEIR BUSINESS HOURS.

I got call from this number 1-800-876-6729, they said they are UCB, stands for united collection bureau, responsible for collecting money.

The same thing is happenning with me???

received call from the number and gave a reference number to call them back. i tried calling couple of times and never got answered by a human!

this number has called 30 times this month, at least.

This is a collections call for Medical Billing (hospital, labs, etc.) Cannot speak with a human if you do call back.. I don't get it?! They cll EVERY DAY sometimes twice in one day, always leaving a long computer voiced message with a reference number! VERY SHADEY!

Been getting these bogus calls as well. The company is United Collection Bureau. They claim we owe a medical bill but we dont. I have found that according to the FDCPA if you fax them and or write them a certified letter with a demand to stop all electronic comunications to (insert #) they by law have to quit calling, this does not stop them from sending mail through the USPS but atleast it ceases the calls. If this company fallows the law anyway.
I did some research, called them and asked them for thier mailing address and fax number. At first they were reluctant to give it to me without a ref number but I simply repeated my request for the information and got it from some woman who sounded like she was in India or some other country.

Just type up a request/demand and shoot away. I usually set my fax to resend it about 10 to 15 times just to annoy the hell out of them and to insure they get the message.

I keep getting this call also.  The number shows up on my caller ID as just a 419.  It then leaves a message to call them back at the 1-800 number and use a reference number.  I called and demanded the guy tell me what the name of the company was.  He replied either "UCB" or "UCD" I couldn't tell because of his accent.  I asked what that stood for, and he didn't know.  I said what does your company do?  He replied help you start personal business matters ??
I then told him to never call me again and that if he was with a legitimate company they could find my address and mail me their information.

United Collection Bureau?  Never heard of 'em.  Here's what happened next:

"I need to verify that you are John Wilson."

"I am not."

"Okay, John.  We are calling about your overdue account."

"Excuse me.  I'm not John."

"Is this [some phone number]?"

"No."

"Okay.  Is this [some other phone number]?

"No.  I need to speak your manager, please."

"What is your name and number then?"

"Okay, we are done.  Do not call me again.  Fish elsewhere."

"What is your name and number, Mr. Wilson?"

"Stop reading and start listening.  I am hanging up now."

Report to Police.

check state laws.  In Oh if u send a certified letter asking them not to call and to handle this with written correspondence then they have to stop calling.

Oh my gosh.  I am receiving the same phone calls from 800-876-6729 every day.  I called back and I got transferred to a voicemail with a man's Asian voice that I can hardly understand.  I didn't give them any information.  I'm glad I decided to check on line.  Does anyone know how to stop this???

BTW the collections agency is just another branch of this same company out of Florida.  I will need to go to my local hospital and find the specific name of this billing company.    I was just told by the hospital it is a company out of Florida. My bill was less than a month old, but sent to collections because of their sloppiness.

Aside from the fact they are rude and annoying, this is a legitimate company.  But, in my opinion they do not deserve to be in business.  All their billing companies have different names, according to the state they are in.  Their address is listed as Chicago, Ill, although the firm is actually out of Florida.

My suggestion to all who may read this is to contact your specific hospital, complain and offer to withdrawal your business from them if they continue to contract with this terrible firm.  To put more teeth into it, ask anyone in your community to also log a compliant or gather a petition.  

I showed them their errors and they confess their fault, yet I still get these calls.

I get the same call, only for BC MO EMER PHYS LLP.  One of many names which they are known by.  

This is a multi-pronged company, out of Florida, which contracts with physicians to collect hospital bills.

My experience has been that these people--the billing company--are very sloppy in their record keeping.  Once they wrote a terse letter telling me I did not pay a certainphysician's bill.  I went to my insurance company, which is a veteran's insurance group run by the VA, and they had record of payment in the form of a cancelled US Treasury check.  We called them back and all of a sudden they found the payment after all.  

In another incident, I gave my new house number, because the number had been changed by the city I live in.  They argued with me for along while stating they never heard of a city changing someone's number, and refused to accept that I was telling the truth.  (Whenever someone questions my integrity, I immediately question theirs.)  Anyway, they sent me a bill to the old address number anyway, and when it was returned, they automatically sent it to collections.

Message left on my cell phone vm. Asian lady who cant pronouce my name. Says i have to call her witha reference number. Very distant sounding call, barely can hear or understand her.

I get this call 1, sometimes several times a day or every few days. It shows up on my caller id as "Unknown" or "419". When it does get to my voicemail, there is always a message saying call back at this number and gives a reference number. I don't know who they are and i don't care. But it is annoying. Btw, it is on my cell phone.

These people call my phone every day. Leave a reference # Called them back got a voicemail. Did not leave a message. Comes up as Incoming call thats it. They need to leave me alone.

I just left this A hole 12 messages back to back with 12 different accents and stories. lol. I am going to continue to call and leave messages until he calls back. When I track the number and his location, I will post it here.

I received a call from this # today at 2:30 p.m. leaving me a ref# I called it right back and talked to an guy i could not understand very well we wanted to talk to my daughter who is in college.  Would not give me any reference to the call because he said of privacy act and wanted her cell# I would not give it to him.  She did have a medical bill with michigan emer phys llp I wonder if that is how they are getting the info.  could not understand the name of the company and I asked them 3 times!

We kept getting the robo calls with increasing frequency.  Finally called them back and left message.  Then today called Verizon's unlawful call line (1-800-518-5507) and they were very helpful.  The Verizon agent called the same 800 # and got through to a rep (how I don't know) and rep said they'd remove our # from their  list.  Verizon also said that if this keeps up after a week to call our state attorney general's office. But my hope this is over.

Just got this call this morning. Same thing - gave phone # and reference #. I'm not calling!  Came up PRIVATE on my caller id. Also they called me on a cell that only friends and family have # to.

Every day I get a call from this number with a reference number. When I try to call, I get transfered by multiple machines, and usually to someone's mailbox that's ALWAYS full. I have yet to speak to a person and haven;t a clue as to what this is. But judging from the nature of the message left, I think it's a collection call.

this number called me, and left a number to call back and stated it was for medical bills for someone i don't know. When I called them back they asked for a phone number 3 times then after 10 minutes longer they said they were sorry for the call.

Same here. Bill was lost but paid months ago, and they are just now calling and telling me that if I do not show them proof of payment then they will report to the credit bureau. wtf. if you get "Ronald" beware, he answers the phone but you cannot understand half of what he says, he also wants you to pay with your credit card over the phone. No way Jose.

They Asked Me To Call 1-800-6729 MANY Times Saying About So-called Personal Business and give the ref. #. thingy.  I have no outstanding collections or 'unpaid bills'.  they've caled me many times in the past two months.  when I FINALLY call the #. they give me elevator Music then transfer, the say the person is not in and some french sounding voice saying UCV- and the recorded lady's voice saying,"Sorry the person you are calling is not in and you cannot leave a message and says something about Audix=which is a voice mail term.  GEESH. Called TWICE to see if get same result. YEP!  These people are frauds.

Got this for second time and I called back and was on hold for 5 minutes.  Finally it says call is being answered by Onyx and dumps you into someones voicemail that you can't even understand.  I left a message and said I would appreciate being removed from their call list.
