I want to let you know that no one, I repeat NO ONE, can attach social security wages. Ever. Please rest assured in this fact. I also worried that my payment could be attached at one time, for a debt that also was not mine. I did some research and discovered that social security can not be touched. Good luck with everything you're going through.

This collection agency is in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  Debt collectors have to follow the rules like not making up stories or misidentifying themselves or threatening to take your money.  When they call you, if you choose to talk to them, make sure to tell them that you are recording the conversation. Second,  say you are disputing the debt and ask for proof of the debt, including the name of the creditor, any and all invoices, etc.   Then ask for the name and address of the company they are calling from and the first and last name of the person you are talking to. (If they send you proof of debt then send a certified letter telling them not to contact by phone at home or at work anymore).  Then tell them that this is their one and only verbal warning not to call your home again. Then hang up.  If they call back, hang up or better yet, don't answer the phone.  No one can take any money from you without a court order.  If you have never been served with a summons and complaint, then the chances are pretty good that there is no court order.  If you believe there might be one, you can call the court and ask the court clerk to see if there are any court cases with your name on them.  All debts have a statute of limitation on them that is usually only 2 or 3 years.  These collection agencies are well aware that most people don't know the rules behind the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act otherwise they would not attempt such stunts -- because you can sue them for three time the amount of the debt plus attorneys fees.  Do a google search on the Act so you can arm yourself against these predators. Remember NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR MONEY WITHOUT A COURT ORDER.    If by chance, they do get a judgment against you in court, try to work out some arrangements with the attorney and also empty you bank account because they can get an order to get the money in your bank account without notifying you until the day it happens.  Also, don't open your doors to strangers, including a sheriff's deputy, unless you are prepared to get served.  Hope this helps.

This is a collection agency out of Pueblo Colorado.  The message they left is that they were calling to "verify employment".  I called them to see what the call was about.  They freely gave my social security number, but wouldn't tell me what debt they were collecting on.

If you want to teach this collection agency a lesson, report them to your state Attorney General's office.  They are required to identify themselves as a debt collectors, and they are not doing that... therefore they are breaking the law.  By giving out social security numbers, they risk giving private info to an unauthorized third party.  If enough people report them, the Attorney General will sue them.  Report them to the Federal Trade Commission as well.

Here is the company's info:

Some female rep telephoned my house and told my wife that I had a garnishment coming and they wanted employment verification, luckily I was talking to my wife on her cellular telephone at the same time.  The rep provided my social security number and instructed me to contact Mary Adams, a paralegal with Huntington National Bank (Ohio) about this garnishment, in an hour because she was currently tied up in court.
I proptly looked up the telephone number in google and found this website concerning this collection agency.

My suggestion:  Obtain a credit report and become aware with whom you may owe.  If a debt is attempted to be collected and it does not appear on your recent credit report tell the persons on the other end of the telephone to go pound salt.
You will never speak directly to a lawyer or a papalegal in connection with these matters....if they claim to be an attorney ask for their Bar Association number then look it up.

Jessica called and left a message for employment verification. When i called back the transfered me to a paralegal saying i had a wage garnishment coming and needed to verify my information. they told me a social security number that was not even mine. Don't trust these people. Someone needs to sue them for giving out social sec. # that aren;t really the people they are calling.

Congress passed the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in 1978, faced with an overwhelming number of complaints about debt collection. The act regulates third party debt collection agencies, not original creditors. Individual states may have additional consumer protection laws.
So for more info about the laws check this site out http://www.ehow.com/about_4795372_collection-agency-laws-rules.html and there are many others out there to help you understand your rights.

Received a call from this number on my cell. I was at work, on the phone, so I didn't answer. "Jessica" left me a message that she was trying to verify my employment. Really?! Calling ME to verify MY employement?! I knew right away it's a scam. Will not call back or have anything to do with these thugs. I see they've tried to scam other people into paying "unsettled or past due accounts" -- DON'T FALL FOR IT. Just HANG UP! These a$$holes need to be in prison.

I got a call from Jessica 8/18/09. She said that my wife & ex husband didn't pay a bill 20 years ago. Because my wife and I tried to buy something together, Jessica said I was responsable for this 20 year old debt that she say's is in judgement by some court. Jessica said they will go into my bank account and take out the moneys owed. I told Jessica that I nor my wife knew anything about this owed bill. She said she mailed the info to me but I never seen it. I disputed this action and asked for the info. She tried to settle a 6000 debt for 800.
I get a disability check that goes directly into my bank account. I can't afford a lawyer. I read other peoples info on these people, but still afraid they will attach my account and pay something That isn't even mine. If anyone who knows the law on this subject, could you please help and contact me at rlp592008@yahoo.com or call me 865-286-5037. I can't afford any amount of money taken for it is the only thing I have to live on and it isn't much. I appreciate any help. If this is just a collection agency, they are harrassing me and my wife. I have a sevier heart condition and this isn't helping. If I could sue them I would for harrassment and for attempt to murder someone. My wife just finished having brain surgery last month and also isn't helping her any. Please help, help, help.

These people just called us treating to garnish our bank account and threaten that my house payment and everything would be taken till the debt with paid in full. We told them we wanted proof of judgement and they wouldn't give it to us. Look them up on line (google) these people are big trouble. They have like 3 different names they go by, do your resarch and don't pay them anything.

Diana is who starts the conversation, then they get the "Lawyer" handling the case. It is all a scare tactic don't fall for it. they have lawsuits out all over for them.

These guys are such a joke!  I call, and ask for Jessica, and low and behold, the woman who answered was her (even though her voice sounded very different).  This company contacted me about 1 1/2 years ago, and insisted I had a judgement against me.  I asked for a copy of the judgement (which they have to provide by law) and I heard nothing from them until today.  They used the same old employee verification line on me, but I luckily knew the scam.  Forget these losers, they are a collection agency, and will not garnish wages, period!  I very abbruptly told her not to call again, and used a nice four letter word to seal the deal.
