The feds need to change the laws. They charged the account(s) off, no collection possible. Simple. Can't have it both ways. In most cases they cannot even prove you owe anyone. Make sure to send in a letter during the 30 days asking for validation that this is even your 'debt'. Ask for proof of requesting any card(s). Write DO NOT CALL on that request. If they call, report to FTC every time they call.

The feds need to end block party calling as well. Demand that your Congressman do something about this as well.

I recvd a call from an erin johnson. He was rude and threatening. He biggest point was that he was going to verify my my employer. Does anyone know why he would want to do this? he claims he works with amex when i asked to send documentation ie my card member agreement he declined.

I actually work in this office you refer to. Chances are you called off the letter past  the expiration date at the top right hand corner, if its past that date, its no wonder the account is gone. It would have went to a collection agency.
This office however, is AMERICAN EXPRESS- yes it is located in Omaha Nebraska, and yes the building is technically owned by West Asset Management- formerly Omnium Worldwide Inc--- however there is numerous different offices inside, some rented by attorneys, some rented by the US Air Force... and some rented by American Express.( Its a very simple concept if you think about it, someone has to own the building)
You cannot cease and decist your original creditor, Amex is an original creditor, we as Amex collectors have all rights to call you to pay your balance, that is YOUR responsibility. We cannot control the fact that you run from responsibilites and try to skate around them. You did charge the card. You are responsible to repay for it. We follow all laws for collections, and do not threaten..harrass etc. ( Afterall, it is NOT harassment to collect on a debt).

I received a letter from so called American Express,  PO Box 6618, Omaha, Ne,  68105-0618 offering me a settlement offer.  The number I was asked to call before I accepted was 877-486-4966.  I called and spoke with Brandy who said they no longer had my account.  She gave me the number 800-528-4800 and it was United Recovery who are a collection agency and are crooks.   They are misrepresenting themselves and this is illegal.  The person who signed the letter is Brandon Sears, Manager, American Express. Please be aware

Hi, I just got a call from 866 462 5235 claiming to be American Express. They wanted me to fax my proof of payoff of a 7 year old debt to them, when I refused and asked for a mailing address they gave me PO Box 6618 Omaha, NE 68106. Is 7171 Mercy Road their physical address? Should I send them a certified letter telling them to cease and decist along with my proof of payment? These people are very aggressive, and claim since they are actually AE and NOT a collection agency I can't tell them to cease and desist their calls... any suggestions would be appreciated! What authorities should I report them to?
