} People dont want to pay there [sic] debts so they call it a scam?

No, people don't want to pay debts which are incorrectly calculated, were never delinquent, or never existed. Those are the issues often reported in relation to this "Family Readers" bunch.

Fake magazine debt is a subculture of its own in the land of illegal debt collection. Its business model is not dissimilar to the one guiding fake payday loan debt.

} validation of the debt, hopefully buy me some time til I get paid

That you "know you owe it" is immaterial. The object of validation is not to "buy time" but preserve rights which rogue debt collectors are eager to deny. The worst lawbreakers lie and bully their way from a lack of proof.

The FTC, CFPB, and attorneys general would be my first stops for complaint desks which help the populace. But they can't drop everything to solve your own problem. You'll first need to dispute the debt by Certified Mailed notice. If you do so within your thirty days, as that dunning letter likely details, it's Dach's job to prove you owe and keep quiet until it does. A smart collector stays quiet for good if you've called its bluff.

If true as it sounds that Dach has misrepresented the character or legal status of some old debt, sue them for violating FDCPA and state laws. Ditto if you are contacted against your stated wishes or collection is attempted prior to sending validation.

Well if you know you owe it, then pay it.  Other posters, however, do not believe they owe the debt, so they need to demand validation of the debt.
