FWIW, they alter their approach for non-Verizon customers. We've not been Verizon customers for over two years. My son got calls from this number three weeks ago and again today. When he picked up (yes, I know he shouldn't!) it was part way through a recording threatening to garnish his wages if he didn't immediately pay an overdue bill of $374. He was worried I might have missed paying the last bill. I told him it was a scam, not to answer the calls.

A few weeks ago my son got a call from this number on his cell phone. When he answered, he heard the end of a recorded message saying he owed over $300 to Verizon and his wages would be garnished if he didn't pay. We had a family plan with Verizon (I was primary name on account), but left for another carrier over 2 years ago. He ignored it - until he got another similar call today.

He tried to call the number back, got dead air. Called Verizon, who wouldn't talk to him because he didn't have my SS#. I called when I got home. The woman in "Customer Care" checked my long deactivated account under all three numbers. None showed a balance due. This sounds like a scam to frighten people.

I also received a recorded message, upon answering the phone call from this number.  This message directed me to vzw333.com.  Looks like that website mimics the vzw website.  

Gotta wonder why verizon would need a special website to give you a discount.  And you've gotta wonder why verizon would give you a $300 discount in the first place.  I think $300 is large enough for you to become curious about it.

This phone number 800 888 9609 continues to call me.  Please help me to stop this scam.

Like others here, it was for a Verizon scam website. Already logged another phone number that they've called from too.  Have never had Verizon, and Chrome already has the website flagged as a phishing website.

Caller calls frequently.  Don't answer.  Read on web it is a scam.

Got the call last Saturday, lone behold that was Oct 12 like all these other posts.  I took note of the website to claim my $374.  I'm a broke college student so yeah of course I tried to find the website and look it over and everything, but FireFox wouldn't even open the page for me.  So after a google search I find this site.  Crazy how people all over the country are getting the same call on the same day.  I'm in Wyoming.

Two calls two minutes apart.  Did not answer, googled it only to find out it is a scam!  Do not answer these calls!

Have received multiple calls from 800-888-9602 and 800-888-9609 in the past thirty days.

I got a call stating they are trying to collect on a bill.. and that they will be at my house to serve me and that I had one hour to respond...

Got a call from this saying I had a credit on my Verizon Wireless Account - except I don't have nor never have had an account with Verizon Wireless. Hung up on it, called it back and it went to a sex hotline for steamy encounters.

Same as above very much a scam!!!! I called the number back out of curiosity and it's a talk line.

Got 2 calls from 9609 number today,couldn't understand what they was saying and I hung up.I'm in Louisiana

Same calls are coming to me with the last two stirs changing from 9602 to9609.

Two calls less than 3 minutes apart.  Definitely NOT Verizon since they do not call.  i'm in Seattle, so it appears they are now heading north.

I'm in Michigan. I just got the call from this number but didn't pick-up. My husband got the same call after me. I couldn't understand the message so I looked up the number &here we are...figured. I will let my husband and family know that there is a scam targeting verizon users.

I JUST received this call and called it back.  It sounded like a phone sex chat line and googled the number.  I am a verizon customer in MI.  If someone has reported this to Verizon and they haven't notified customers about this scam it'll piss me off.  I haven't

This is a phishing number. They call you and tell you to log onto vzw374.com. Once you enter your correct login info, they redirect you to the real verizon website. Then they log onto verizon with your account info (electronically, and it only takes seconds) and steal all of your customer info and run up huge bills in your name.

They just called me with a 347$ offer.

The computer calls you, & say they are from Verizon. When you call the 800-888-9609 it is a dating sac number.

I received a scam call stating they were taking 374.00 out of my account next month for Verizon. From 800-888-9609

I received this phone call too - I never answer my phone if I don't know the number.  Then I came to this site - so glad I did -  When they don't leave a message in the first place - they definitely wouldn't get a call back!

MESSAGE STATED TO VISIT VZW374.COM TO RECEIVE MY $374......IT COMES UP AS VERIZON WIRELESS WEBSITE WHICH IT'S NOT!

BE VERY CAREFUL!!!! if you call it back it's a "American's Hottest "Talk Line"!!

got 3 calls on my cell, didn't answer any.  Called back from home number and some Hot girls number.

2 calls back to back, no message left.
