These a**holes call 5-6 times a day. It is allways a machine not a person. The request is for "Phillis Boulgon". I have no idea who this person is. The machine says to call another number but then you get a Hosto answering machine.

Some recording asking for someone I have never heard of calls about 2 times a day and even on Sundays and asks for this person with URGENT Business! or Uragent Message! Urgent for who? Go F*** Ur/self Hosto and Buchan! You are bottom feeders and prey on the unsuspecting; uninformed and uneducated debtors. Call me again, and the next thing you'll see is the Constable of Pulaski County, AR. serving your sorry Bottom Feeding firm with a citation.

If you ask these people to take you off the list they just add more names to your phone number and call even more! I tried it twice and now they call like twice a day and ask for several different people.

Someone named Nichol has been calling me for months insisting I owe some "debt".  She doesn't give me much information, but insists I am the debtor. She leaves messages for me to call her with a case number. Because she doesn't listen, I am not returning the call.  She is driving me nuts. A google search revealed they are a collection agency/law office that has a history of this type of phone calls and EVEN worse!

Well, this is becoming more interesting.   My emergency Trac cell phone was receiving calls daily, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day from Hosto's 866-424-8637 and using up my minutes during month of April 2010.   When I posted a complaint before  (on day I brought my husband home from hospital recovering from stroke), it stopped 3 days later, about 4/30/10  That company called twice while I was at the hospital, as I awaited call from doctor.....al our doctors office has my cell phone number.
On June 3rd, these calls started again from same company, using the 800-892-1460 number, to my same Trac phone.   Every day, once a day, at different times, but not on weekends.   I would reply and they would put me on hold or hang up.  Using my minutes.  Back in April they were looking for Connie someone, and I am not that person, when I got thru to this SAME number!!,    I was advised  I would be put on do not call list.
 I've had this number for six years lacking a couple of months.   It is amazing this professional company apparently is unable to acquire the know how, to program their automated systems, in a timely manner (do not call) if they themselves cannot respond to replys, by sincere persons wanting to resolve the issues.  It is rude, unethical, unprofessional.......and now I feel harrassed.  I am contacting the BBB and attorney, if these calls do not stop in the next week, by July 3rd....being a month from date this started the second time around.   I myself had a stroke in 2007, and I am staying "cool" but not too old yet to fight a legal battle......I have plenty of time, being retired many years.

How do these scum bags get cell phone numbers? There should be a law! I think the donot call list is a scam too. I think it only verifies that you have a number instead of protecting your number.

I got a call at the office for an employee who does not work in the office.  It was an automated call, so I called them back.  The man that I spoke with was VERY rude to me.  I told him to please remove our number, as the person that he was trying to contact was not available at this number.  He asked if I could get a message to him and I told him, truthfully, that I couldn't.  He kept insisting that they could not remove this number because it was part of a legal file.  I started quoting FDCPA to him on the subject and he got even ruder with me.

He said that he would tell them to stop trying to contact the employee here, though.  I'll believe that when it actually happens.

I too am being hounded by these vultures!  But I'm confused by some of the answers I're read re: old debt.  I can prove the Statute of Limitations which is 4yrs here in Tx. on an old debt I have has run out.  However, after being passed around from one collection agency to another for yrs, last yr was served at home by H & B referred to may I've read here as bottom feeders, vultures and much much worse.  Anyway, I responded to the suit as directed by way of a letter and proof to the judge.  Thought that was the end of it as I hadn't heard anything (15mths) and that the suit had been dismissed because of the proof I sent the judge.  Wrong, well now I received in yesterdays mail a notice (motion to substitute counsel) from the court stating that H & B has now been replaced by a local vulture, sorry I mean attorney Michael J Scott.  I called the court and was told the lawsuit is still pending and when asked what the court date would be was told "sometime this year".  So my question is can I or can I not be sued by a 8yr old debt even though I have proof which I  submitted  because it seems I am.  Obviously I cannot afford to hire an attorney so when I receive the court date do I take all my documentation as well as my proof and HOPE the judge rules in  my favour and that the vultures dont win because I have no attorney to represent me and am thrown to the wolves.  Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated asap especially from anyone who has experienced this.  Many Thanks.

Hello,
I would like to tell you the situation that I am in.
I set up automatic payments. HBPL stopped taking money from my account. Then sued me for missing a payment.I was given a confirmation code, the call as well as the agreement was documented by my debt settlement company. My paychecks are too low to garnish so my bank was sued. My entire balance was taken not a portion without warning. I don't have money for a lawyer and don't know what to do.

Hello,
My last payment was not taken out of my account. HBPL sued me. Since my paychecks are too low to garnish the entire balance of my bank account was taken. In fact hBPL sued my bank. It's been terrible. Write the court system. HBPL quit taking your payments on purpose in my case they claimed I stopped making payments and were able to sue me. Take action now. I don't know what to do and it's not over yet.

My advice is to record your calls with them.  I'm currently being sue by them. You can also ask them to validate the debt here is a sample of the letter:
Date:      Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Re: Acct # XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is being sent to you in response to a summons sent me on December 3, 2009. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is requested.
This is NOT a request for ?verification? or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you.
Please provide me with the following:
?  What the money you say I owe is for;
?  Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe;
?  Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe;
?  Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable;
?  Identify the original creditor;
?  Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account
?  Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state
?  Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent
At this time I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureau?s (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion) this action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent I will not hesitate in bringing legal action against you for the following:
?    Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act
?    Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
?    Defamation of Character
If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days investigating this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist.
Also during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes any listing any information to a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate when in fact there is no provided proof that it is.
If your offices fail to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit file and a copy of such deletion request shall be sent to me immediately.
I would also like to request, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your offices to my home. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit. All future communications with me MUST be done in writing and sent to the address noted in this letter by USPS.
It would be advisable that you assure that your records are in order before I am forced to take legal action. This is an attempt to correct your records; any information obtained shall be used for that purpose.
Best Regards,
THIS LETTER HELPS I USE IT

WOW, I had a payment arrangment set up as well and then they suddenly stopped pulling out of my account. I am wondering if it would be wise to send them a certified letter to find out why. At least this will be documented that they are the party that did not collect. What ever happened with your case?

I would like to try to put a class action lawsuit together. I am going to court against H&B. I don't have a lawyer. But I am pissed. I tried to pay my debt. I set up an automatic payment to pay my debt, received a confirmation code... H&B did not withdraw the payment. Then they sued me for not paying my debt. I don't want to put too many details and wish to remain anonymous.

5 calls today that my son answered. They would not honor his request to remove our number from the system. He told the the truth. No one by the name they requested has that number, lived here, etc.  I arrived home to hear details of the rude manner he was spoken to and not long afterwards they called again. I was interrupted by Vera after I requested they not call again and attempted to explain the law in my state according to our state attorney general's office. Vera was very rude. Attempted to take control of the conversation w/o letting me plea my case. She told me to "drop the attitude". What a shock! I reminded her I was the one being harassed by her company. I requested the address of the business. She wanted to argue. She hung up on me. I called back and used their tactics on them. It was the third call when she agreed to give me the address and have us removed from the calling list but refused to apologize. I continued to call and use their tactics. At the 6th call she got angry and said in a frustrated tone, "Lady, this is the 6th time you have called!" I replied, "Yeah, and is it getting on YOUR nerves?"  I stopped after that. Our attorney general will start legal proceedings after you send a registered letter and the calls continue. Perhaps you should try that route? I will give it a few days as she said it would be 24-48 hours before the calls would stop. We will see. Vera gave a Little Rock, Arkansas address.

This law firm gives law firms a bad name. They collect debts under the names of Hosto & Buchan, Little Rock, AR and Dallas, TX. Collecting for some of the worst of America?s bottom feeders, Hosto & Buchan is a paper mill for bad suits, phony documents and bogus affidavits. One of their lawyers,  Melvin Thatiah seems to screw up a lot of cases with his copied pleadings in case after case. He is known NOT to be a good litigator and apparently has a problem being in all the courts where cases are filed.

My impression of this organization is one of collection pimps who will stoop to the lowest levels of the sleaze bar to affect a paycheck, based on the list C- bottom feeders, they represent. (yuk!)

You would think that being lawyers gave them some smarts that does not appear to be the case on complaints we receive. Hosto & Buchan, along with Texas collection lawyer; Melvin Thatiah, have filed suits on behalf of a bottom-feeder debt buyer that are TIME BARRED by statute. This means they are too old to litigate, which leads me to believe that debt collector and lawyer Melvin Thatiah are deliberately trying to get judgments they are not entitled to. Furthermore, how bad a lawyer do you have to be to sink to the level of litigating for bottom-feeder debt buyers.

Hosto & Buchan is typical of the bottom feeder?s debt collectors who will take cases from anyone, regardless of if they have the legal documents to validate them, debts that are time barred by statute and all the typical garbage filed by bottom feeders. They are a loose organization of mistakes and bad lawyering.

Keep receiving calls from them - their english is so bad, it's hard to understand who they are or the file number they said to reference.  Finally today after playing it back over and over, I was able to understand the file number and I called.  The person they were looking for is deceased and has been for over two years.  I told her this, and she said I needed to send her a copy of the death certificate.  I told her I would be more than happy to, just send me a request in writing, on company letterhead and I would get it right out.  She then informed me that they were an attorny's office, and they didn't send out letters...(who ever heard of an attorny's office not sending out letters???), and that they would continue to call.  She then informed me that she was disconnecting the call and hung up.  I immed called back, and the same lady answered.  I asked her name, and informed her that this conversation was being recorded.  I then asked to speak to her supervisor, and she informed me that the supervisor was gone for the day, and there was no one else in charge.  I asked to be transfered to her supervisors voice mail, and she said she couldn't transfer me.  Then at this point, she stated that she was also recording the phone call, and she stated that she was goingo to disconnect.  I told her that's fine, but I would keep calling back.

Please be careful, as this company(people) do not seem to be legit. He started arguing with me instead of working to settle the debt! DO NOT TALK OR GIVE INFORMATION TO THIS COMPANY, could not find them on internet with the name they gave me only by the phone number. And than I found this posts, thanks.

I have recieved numerous phone calls from the company Hosto and Buchan, located in AK. They keep asking for a lady who does not live here and I tell them every time this is a different residence. I have asked over 6 times to be taken off their call list. 6 times I have been told I would. But this morning at 6:37 in the morning they called again. First of all no one ... NO BUSINESS should be calling anyone at 6:37 in the morning! And yes you should factor in time zones when you call. But the other issue I had was I had put my newborn down to sleep and the call woke him up! When I told the young man I was going to call and complain, he said "No mam I am taking your number off our list right now!" I could hear him typing away. Why didn't the other 6 callers do that when they said they were?

If the numbers were either (800) 892-1460, or (888) 200-9244 or (866) 460-3848, they belong to Hosto & Buchan.  My senior citizen mom has been harassed by this law firm for a debt which is not hers, but is indeed owed by someone with the same last name.  Believe me, the more research I do, the more dirt I dig up on this firm.  Their day in court is coming, along with potential attorney disbarment.

My 78 year old mother has been receiving calls from Hosto & Buchan for a debt that is owed by someone who has the same last name as hers.  I have been doing some research into this law firm and have come across several lawsuits that have been filed against them for this very thing.  I have a pending file open with the Federal Trade Commission, the Texas Attorney General's Office, and am working on filing a complaint with the Arkansas Attorney General's Office.  I am also looking into disciplinary action against the law firm and its member lawyers through the Texas and Arkansas Supreme Court, which oversees attorneys' disciplinary action.  I have also consulted an attorney who I am discussing a possible lawsuit.  I keep thinking there are more people out there like yourself and like my mom that are needlessly being harassed for a debt that is not theirs.

I'd be interested to know if you've had any success in getting the phone calls to stop.  Any information you can provide would be most appreciated.
