First of all - you're responding to a poster from 2011. Secondly, it's always best to call the number on the back of your credit/debit card. Looks like you're the "fool".
And yet 2014-05-27 00:27:19 Unknown
Here you are responding to a 3 year old post that probably not going to even see the response and hasn't been posted in since 2012.. who's the fool now?
Bob 2014-05-27 00:24:59 Unknown
Not true... I did indeed call the number on the back of the card, and was assured that the 1-800-892-8349 was indeed a line used by Bank of America. Thanks for inciting panic fool.

These are scams plain and simple If it were the Credit Card co. 1) They would know your name and address you by it 2) The number on the back of your card is the ONLY number to call 3) The people on these message boards who tell you that it is the bank is bull s#@# That is a trick to get people to call the number! If your not sure just call the number on the back of your card. I have called the Credit card company and they assured me that it is a scam because that is not their number and and if there were an issue it would be on file and that there was no issue with my account.

This number calls me everyday and leaves a message. It's getting really old.
Mad as a Hornet 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
I called the number. I had to punch in my telephone number. It was a card access number and there was NO reason for Bank of America to call me. I asked the operator to take my name and number off the list and never to call again. And I am going to report this pratice to the attorny general of New York
dk 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
Started getting the same calls . ID says out of area then I get the message to call the #. Definitely identity theft scam!!! Also, they are just calling random #'s so if you return the call they know they have a legitimate # that they can add to a list that they sell to telemarketers/scammers. DO NOT CALL BACK !!!!
tyra 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
caller just leaves a message to return the call.
tired of these people calling me 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
yeah, its totally old.
who the f*** are these people?
Sdizzy 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
Just got one, no explanation, no name of who.
tiggedge 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
If you google it, you get hits for MBNA credit cards. I don't have one, so they must be lying that it is "not a sales call or a solicitation". Or they have a wrong number, which sucks for me since they call everyday.
Lina 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
I called them and asked who they were; they said Bank of America!
Customer 2011-06-06 20:58:38 Unknown
It is a Bank of America number. I called tonight and was really worried that it was a scam and that I just gave my identity away. Therefore, I called Bank of America from the number that is on my bank statement and tripled checked with their loan department and that number is legit.
RT 2011-01-19 22:19:21 Unknown
I received a bogus email too and called the number on the back of my card. You can report the email to abuse@bankofamerica.com. Only the phone number on the back of your card is ever legitimate.
FRAUD!!!!! 2010-07-22 15:12:04 Unknown
I actually got this number in an email, asking me to call in response to comments or inquiries I had supposedly made on a BofA card.
I have made no inquiries or comments. In fact, I don't even have a balance!
FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD!

Elite Recovery Services, Buffalo New York. Called my husband's number stating that they were a lawyer and were taking him to court over a debt of my brother who is in a nursing home with multiple sclerosis and has been there for four years. They stated that my husband was listed as the next of kin. I have never given the nursing home or my brother my home number, which is listed in my husband's name. Neither my husband nor I are responsible any debts incurred by my brother. I did a reverse look up of the number and found out the name of the company.

Yeah -- they just called me and left some bizarre card services message. I called back wondering wth. So I did call but I was not about to give any info -- plus I don't know the account number if I have no idea who is calling! So I hit 0 and waited on the line for a person, who only after I asked him what company is this, did I find out it was Bank of America. I told him I'm not giving him info when I don't even know what it's about. He then asked me if this was my home phone # and I agreed and he pulled my info telling me I missed a payment last month. (Which sadly was true.) Jees first time missed a payment and they call you with weird messages.

calls everyday and weekends gives hours of operation eastern time to call back. If they don't have the balls to identify themselves in a professional way then they can stick it. If this is legit, then they should know better with the way ID theft is now days. This type of business is not acceptable.

THAT PHONE NUMBER IS A SCAM ARTIST. YOU NEED TO REPORT THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND YOUR LOCAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE. WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT CALL THAT 1-800-892-8349 PHONE NUMBER. THEY CLAIM TO BE AN AFFILIATE OF BANK OF AMERICA, BUT THEY ARE NOT AND ARE FRAUD. IT IS SO IMPORTNAT TO NEVER CALL THAT PHONE NUMBER. IF YOU HAVE, AND YOU GAVE THEM YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, YOU'RE PERSONAL SECURITY IS SHARED WITH THOUSANDS.

Update - I talked with bank of America - this number belongs to the Line of Credit for Bank of America. They are trying to collect on past due loan payments. So if you are past due , that is the reason for call. However, I did complain about how unprofessioanl the call center is and that the 4-or 5 phone calls a day was very annoying. I also express my concern that if this was the image BofA was going for, then I would be changing bank very shortly - I have been with them for over 20 years. I'm sure they will do nothing -
SSA 2008-04-09 17:36:08 Unknown
They have been calling three or four times a day. Crazy.
mkz 2008-03-25 18:38:21 Unknown
Called about 2 times a day for 3 days in a row. Now it is excessive. They call every 4 hours or so. The number comes up UNKOWN. But then tells you to call 800-892-8349 back. Called and got the "Welcome to Card Services, Please enter your account number or social security number." Like I am some person just waiting to have identity theft. Finally waited it out and talked to an operator who will not give you any information until you give her your name. Didn't give her my name so she got rather rude with me. Would not tell me what company she worked for. Putting a complaint into the Att. General.

OH, and they have called me everyday since! Including Sunday!
als 2008-03-19 17:44:24 Unknown
I got a call from this number as well. I started getting them on Saturday when I called my credit card company to tell them that I would be making a large purchase on my card. So I figured it was just them varifying it. I called back when I got the "Recorded" message. They wanted me to put in my social number and the last digits of my credit card number! First off they didn't even identify what company they were from (hum) and second of all if they are a credit card company the KNOW your number. They also have you on hold until someone will be avaliable to assit you. I think this is completely a scam! Do not enter anything
Tonya 2008-03-17 22:33:14 Unknown
I got this number too! 800-892-8349. I think it is a scam!
Derek 2008-02-25 22:44:10 Unknown
It's definitely a scam. I finally was home to have the opportunity to answer the call which comes up as "unknown" on my caller ID. Normally, I do not get any "unknown" callers and had been getting this unknown caller for about two weeks including weekends. When I answered the "unknowned" caller today on the 2nd ring, there was no one there. I held on for about twenty seconds and then heard it click off. I would bet had my voicemail answered the call, it would have left the usual recording to call "card services" ASAP only to get a machine when you do call back that asks for your account number or full nine-digit social security number. If this turns out not to be a scam, I'd be very surprised!
debbie 2008-01-31 17:51:47 Unknown
Bull! It's a scam, plain and simple! do not answer these calls and do not give any information to them! No collection agency or credit card company would ever just leave a recording with no identifying information on your voice mail, and they would never, ever, ask for personal id information as they'd already have it! Do not fall for this!
