I received a call from Pentastar Staffing.  They were calling to offer me employment opportunities.

I received a call from Harris and Associates two days ago, telling me I owed for a payday loan I had not repaid.  I could pay a reduced amount in three installments.  I gave them the number of a debit card, but after reading all these posts, i will not load the card and will ignore future phone calls.  thanks everyone for alerting me to this scam.

Tracy Smith from Harris and Associates has called me 05/24/11, 06/08/11, 06/22/11, 06/30/11, 07/06/11 and this morning at 7:41 a.m. (which is a violation in itself as it was before 8AM).  Anyways, each message she references a case number and says that I am in contempt of deposition and that it is a very serious matter.  I must return her call as soon as possible, before they process their paperwork and I am served at either work or at home.  During one of these calls, I did call back and told them they need to send me a letter validating the debt they state I owe.  They e-mailed it to me.  Another violation.  The debt validation must come regular U.S. Mail and must contain supporting documentation of the original debt, which it did not.  They did have an address on the word document that they typed up.  I sent them a certified letter, return receipt to that address and it came back as undeliverable, vacant, unable to forward.  Major SCAM.  I have reported them to the BBB, the Attorney General and the FTC.  She has also called from the following numbers:  888-418-7405 and 800-207-3454, so this must be a new number that she has conjured up.

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION.  HANG UP ON THEM!!!  THEY ARE A FRAUD/SCAM SO CALLED COMPANY (HARRIS & ASSOCIATES) TRYING TO SCARE YOU SO THEY CAN SCAM YOU OUT OF MONEY.  IF YOU THINK YOU MAY OWE ANYONE...ACCORDING TO THE BBB, FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, AND DA'S OFFICE THEY HAVE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO YOU ABOUT WHO YOU OWE IT TO.  WHEN I ASKED THEM WHO I OWED SOMETHING TO THEY JUST GAVE ME THIS RANDOM NAME AND I ASKED FOR AN ADDRESS AND PHONE # THEY REFUSED TO GIVE IT TO ME.  WHEN I ASKED FOR THEIR ADDRESS THEY GOT REALLY HOSTILE AND KEPT TRYING TO MAKE THREATS.  WHEN THEY DO GIVE ME THEIR ADDRESS IT IS NOT CORRECT.  I ASKED THEM TO E-MAIL ME AND THEY E-MAILED ME STATING I OWED A COMPANY $386.00.   NOTHING ABOUT THE COMPAY, NO PHONE #, NO ADDRESS.  THEY ARE THREATING SEND MY CASE TO COURT AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY 300% AND PLUS COURT FEES.  I REALLY WISH THEY WOULD SEND ME TO COURT TO THEY CAN BE ARRESTED FOR FRAUD.  I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH BBB, THE ATHORITIES, AND FEDERATED TRADE COMMISION.  THEY STATE THAT THIS IS A SCAM AND THEY ARE TRYING TO CATCH THESE PEOPLE.

in addition to what I just wrote, I noticed that some of you have been getting harrassing calls like this for a while now too and this isn't the first one. I contacted the FCC for help and they sent me a letter yesterday telling me where to address this concern because what they are doing is not legal. Please make your complaints here too with every type of call like this that you get.

in addition to what I just wrote keep in mind that a collection of a debt is considered a civil matter and a warrant CANNOT be issued for your arrest.

The fact that there is no information out there for this number is proof to me that they are using this line for their scam. It appears that they call from this line one or two days a month and then don't use it again. they are using the pay day loan scam and scare tatics to try and get money out of you. DO NOT give them any personal information!! They are liars. I was recently taken for $300 over this scam and I have nothing to show for it. The people disappeared after telling me that I had around $10 left to pay and after the last payment I would receive a letter in the mail. I never heard from them again. They didn't take the $10 and they didn't send me any kind of letter. If they are calling you please post what they say to you to help keep others informed. These people are a-holes. I am so sick of this scam. You would think that they would give it up by now. I mean there are so many people trying it and it's beyond stupid. This "Harris and Associates" is the FOURTH different place to call me. I was called by another man first and they had me scared and I gave them my information and they told me that they would charge me every two weeks until the amount was paid. After a month had gone by they still hadn't debited my account once and were telling me to keep the funds available because they were having trouble with their card procesor? What kind of place has the same trouble with their card processor for a month? They called me several more times and I told them to F off cause at this point I realized I was being scammed. They had given me the time that I needed to research this myself and I couldn't find a loan that I owed money on. After them another lady called. She seemed very legit. She was probably using the internet to create sounds though cause it soumded like an actual call center. (I have further researched the loan scam and found out that a lot of them are calling from computers and it is a fake computerized voice.) I made payments to this second group for a month. They took me $300. They told me that I would receive a letter in the mail releasing me from complaint and I never heard from them again. According to them I still owed $10 at the time and they were going to take it out 2 weeks and they disappeared. Then I had a new man call me 3 weeks later and start all over again with me going to jail. I told him he was a loser and to get a real job like everyone else. THEN this week I started being harrassed by this HARRIS group and I am sick of it. I am fully monitoring my credit now and I will not be scared by them anymore. I want to share this info with all of you so that you can pass it on to the a-holes the next time they call you.

Received a call from Harris and Associates from some guy named David Simmons stating that a claim had been filed against me and I needed to contact them ASAP and gave me a case number. This has been going on for months @ a time these certain agencies calling w/ crap about claims being filed against me and giving case numbers! Crazy!

i had a voice mail from these people at harris and assoc. 800-896-4780 something about a civil suite filed against me. i am so done with people trying to get something out of me. i don't have any money. i am in bankruptcy already. i will gladly give them my attorney's name and number.

Received a call from Harris and Associates stating that a claim against me had been filed against me  and that I needed to contact them ASAP. I have never received anything in the mail from a collection agency and  they also said that they serve me with a summons to appear at home or my place of employment.

Thanks for replying to my initial post Lynn. Ms. Parker just called my place of employment again. And left a case number. I still have yet to receive anything in the mail, a call on my personal cell phone, the number does not bring up any kind of law firm when searched online, ANYTHING. Which leads me to believe this is a scam. People are ridiculous!

I received a call from "Harris & Associates" the  woman who called needed to take English 101.and take a course in Consumer Rights La.  Shethreatened to file a civil and criminal case against me, and serve me at my place of employment, then said  said I left her no other choice, Um... excuse me she has lots of choices the first one is to realize debt collectors can not call your place of employement or serve you there, and if the debt is a real they must give you written documentation this is the law. The other thing is nobody would give out their personal information over the phone to a stranger.  Yes this a scam, beware!  I have no idea who these idiots are, they obviously have incorrect info, nope I'm not frazzled either.

Called me at my place of employment (not my personal cell phone). Told my co worker it was regarding a "civil matter" and she gave me a case number. Her name was Tina Parker. I would usually be very frazzled by something like this, but I know there have been a lot of scams going on and she did not call my personal contact number, aren't there privacy laws?, and she did not state where she was calling from, also I have yet to receive anything in the mail...
